Why can’t we just be friends

It was the spring of 2015. Fifteen year old Zenda and Wendi were walking along the beach in Sydney, Australia looking for a good spot to spend the day. Once they found a spot, they began to unpack their towels, sunscreen and the volleyball for the day. Once they both are unpacked they agree to tan for about 30 minutes. While they are tanning, Zenda smells hot dogs.
Zenda tells Wendi, “Dude! We should go get some hot dogs when we finish tanning.”
“But Zenda, i want to go swim when we finish tanning. Can’t you wait like an hour and a half?” said Wendi
“No, I didn’t eat before we came” said Zenda "Please??????"
"No it's not my fault you didn't eat before you came. I told you to eat before we left." said Wendi
“I know but i thought i could get away with it. But obviously not.”
“You know sometimes i wish i could see thing from your point of view, but i can’t get my head that far up my ass.” Said Wendi
“My head is not up my ass, but your head is up your ass.” said Zenda
Wendi did NOT like that remark once so ever. “Can’t we just work this out the proper way and talk like normal human beings?” said Zenda
“NO!!!!” said Wendi “I HATE YOU”
“WHY JUST BECAUSE I WANT TO EAT BEFORE WE GO SWIMMING?” said Zenda “Why can’t we just be friends and work through this?” “NO, I’m going swimming.”
“Fine then i’ll go get myself some food” said Zenda
“Actually you know what, Zenda?”
“What Wendi?”
“Why don’t you go and your food and ill tan for a little while longer. Then when you finish we can go swim together”
“You know what Wendi, That is a great idea. I will be right back.”
When Zenda got back Wendi was doing right what she said she would be doing. When Zenda finished eating she decided to apologize to Wendi. “Wendi?”
“Yeah Zenda?”
“Im sorry for insulting you. Do you forgive me?” “Yeah i do and im sorry i insulted you also. I was just mad. Will you forgive me?”
“Yeah Wendi, I do”
After they apologized to each other and Zenda finished eating they went swimming and when the end of the day came they were both so tired that when they got home they both fell asleep immediately.

Why We Should Recycle

...Why People Should Recycle I am not a big earth first person but I do believe in recycling because I work at a local recycling center and I think recycling is a good thing. In fact I think everyone should recycle to make the earth a better place as a whole. A few good reasons why recycling is a good this is, the more people recycle, the less room is filled in landfills. Also, when people recycle they are reusing materials, therefore saving resources. Another good reason is that when you recycle often times you get paid back the C.R.V. that you already paid for in the grocery store. If everyone recycled think of how much more space there would be in landfills across the world. There is only so much room on this earth and we are using a huge portion of it for our trash. Clearlake, California alone on a busy day can bring in 80,000 pounds of trash to the local dump. I know this because I work at the local dump in Mckinleyville. I also see a lot of people that throw away their recycling for the simple reason of being too lazy to sort it. I watch bag after of bag of plastic, aluminum, and glass get thrown into the bin which we haul straight to a landfill in Anderson, California. If everyone in Mckinleyville recycled there plastic, aluminum and glass they could save thousands of pounds a day from going to the landfill. I think people are not informed that waste is a big problem in this world. But in fact conservation is an issue, and resources and energy aren't too plentiful.......

Reasons Why I Cant Look a Person in the Eyes

...The Reason Why I Can’t Look a Person in the Eye In grade nine, during semester two I had gym last period. It had been a long day, I was exhausted and I just wanted to finish this class and go home. To make everything so much worse we were going to be playing a game that I absolute hated. Soccer-baseball. Both classes were standing in one large circle, while the teacher with boorish brown eyes, was in the middle yelling out instructions. Her voice echoed throughout the huge gym, as she was saying “Everyone has to pick a partner!” and so on. So I looked over to my good friend faith with glamorous green eyes. And mouthed “want to be partners”, and she mouthed back “sure”. So I smiled to myself, until I caught the glimpse of the boy standing beside me, just staring at me, with considerable, confused, brown eyes. Now you see this boy was supposed to be very popular, everyone knew his name, (but I seemed to have forgotten) and everyone thought that he was funny. Even I chuckled at his resistance to a teacher’s demand, his English presentations, and his sarcastic comments during class. So of course I looked back at him into his eyes, and then whispered impatiently to him “what do you want?” he looked at me all wide eyed and pointed at himself. At first I didn’t understand, and then I realized he must have thought that I was taking to him, when I asked faith to be partners. So I shook my head and mouthed “No”, then pointed to faith. His gaze followed my......

Why God Is Our Friend

...you feel that way? C: It’s just so much work! It seems like every other day we have to go to the meeting. And every time I go to my parents with a problem they tell me I have to pray to my father Jehovah. I thought my Dad is my father…how can I have 2 fathers? K: That’s a good question. Let’s see what the Bible says. Let’s read Matt 6:9. K: So, the scripture says Jehovah is our Father in the heavens. Are people in heaven human Cecily? C: No, they are spirits, we cannot see them. K: Right, so since we know that Jehovah created all things including humans, let’s see how Jehovah earns the title Father. Isaiah 64: 8. K: So Cecily, I’m sure that you have played with clay before right? C: Yep, you can make all kinds of things with clay. K: That’s right and so just like you can create anything out of clay by using your hands to mold and shape it; it’s the same way that Jehovah used his hands or “power” to create all humans. So, since he molded us or made us, he is called our father because he created us. C: Oh yeah, that’s right. I remember reading in the Bible story book about the first humans that Jehovah put on earth Adam and Eve and how he made them out of dust. K: Very good that’s right! So, would your Daddy be here on earth living today if Jehovah God had not created the first human man Adam? C: No, I guess he wouldn’t. K: That’s very good thinking Cecily. So, now let me just share one more scripture with you to help you see why it’s so important for your......

Why I Cant Be German

...We children of immigrants always diligently answer such questions. Pleasing Germans is important. Immigrant parents teach their children this lesson at an early age. My grandfather arrived in Hamburg to clean the shipyards as a "guest worker" in the early 1960s, so German integration questions have a long tradition in my family. At the office parties thrown by the savings and loan bank where my father worked, he was always praised because his Turkish wife was allowed to dance, wear short skirts and drink whiskey. My parents received the highest praise bestowed by the Germans: "You're different from other Turks, aren't you?" Different Turks. I had "different Turks" phrases that I repeated again and again. They went something like this: "My parents made out even before they got married. Yes, they were even together for seven years before they wed. They were not promised to each other; their marriage was not arranged. They wrote each other love letters and held hands, on the Bosporus, without a marriage certificate. Yes, they were allowed to go to the movies." These were stories to prove that we were "different Turks." Modern Turks. Nice Turks. Almost Germans. But becoming a German wasn't that easy. When I arrived in the fifth grade, I never raised my hand -- I simply blurted things out, and I did it often. I was disruptive. It was a clear case, at least in the opinion of my homeroom teacher, Frau K., who invited my father to drop by for a talk. Frau K. had prepared for...

Cant We Just Get Along

...Why Can't We All Just Get Along? I recall an incident back in my Middle school days, when I was on the playground during an afternoon recess. My friends and I were intensely involved in an emotional game of basketball. I had been playing miserably, so after my fourth brick, I spiked the ball, super bowl touchdown style against the solid pavement. It began a long process of ricocheting off the walls of the covered area and amidst its air born flight it somehow managed to collide with the jawbone of a rather thuggish looking 8th grader. At this time, an ominous dark cloud of rage began spouting from the disgruntled upperclassmen's nostrils. A large crowd began chanting, "Fight! Fight! Fight!" That was slowly forming around us like vultures circling to pick at the bones of the unfortunate loser. Realizing that the odds of me emerging alive from this mess weren’t very good, I began to think of a strategy that would enable all my major organs to remain intact. I decided to use humor to defeat this barbaric beast. I must have ridiculed and made fun of myself over 200 times. I told him that even if he passed out, in a full body cast, and suffered from leprosy, he still could wipe the floor with my feeble body. I told him if he didn't disfigure me, that I would offer to be his own personal reusable toothpick for as long as he wished. Violence and nonviolence are two very effective ways to solve problems, but for people like me whose brains are stronger than their......

Why Can't We Be Good?

...PHI 106 Assignment #1 Why Can’t We Be Good? “Our society simply has no generally acceptable solution to the ethical dilemma of abortion. So here is a test for us. This is ethnics. We are in front of a painful and Momentous question of right and wrong. How shall we try to think - to think, and not just wrangle - about it?”(“Why Can’t We Be Good?”, pg.63) I believe that everyone has an opinion about a certain situation whether it’d be right or wrong. Giving an opinion about a certain subject brings out the emotions that a person feels. Morality is another word for someone’s opinion about what is right or wrong and it goes back to what a person feels. For instance, many people discuss abortion and whether the solution harms the fetus or not, no one is sure. My opinion about abortion is that it is a form of murdering and lessens the value of human life and can cause long term damage to women or health risk. People who are pro-life consider abortions to be inhumane and believe they should be outlawed. As, viewed by people who categorize themselves as pro-life, it is seen as the murder of an innocent life. Plus, abortion lessens the chance for adoption if the child is born and sadly women that choose abortion usually do not have the financial resources to support the child. There are also, other safer forms of birth control. But I also, believe that in any situation if a woman is raped or abused, she should have the rights to do an abortion is that is the......

Why Don't We Complain?

...Jordan Swaim 9/21/2014 S/R Why Don’t’ We Complain? In the essay, “Why Don’t We Complain”, written by William F. Buckley Jr., the author explains some situations that he was involved in where no one would complain to fix an uncomfortable situation. He argues that Americans would rather face the inconvenience such as sitting in miserable heat on a train or not having your lunch tray collected on a plane. Buckley writes this essay as a result of constantly finding him accepting the inconvenience of life that could easily be fixed if he were to just speak up. The first theory Buckley stated is that everyone expects someone else to complain instead of them. You can’t go around expecting someone to always do the job for you. You need to speak for yourself. If no one is ever willing to say something, then how is the problem ever going to be solved? I felt that this problem was one if the author’s powerful points in this essay. One example he used, was one day when he was on a train and the temperature was very uncomfortable. It was 85 degrees on the train but below freezing outside. He knew that everyone was suffering from the heat, including himself, but no one ever said anything about the temperature being changed. He then said, “It isn’t just they who have given up trying to rectify irrational vexations” (pg. 77). People always expect someone else to stand up and complain about the situation. The second theory that Buckley explained was that people are afraid to state......

Why We Hate Hr

...expect HR to be of assistance to them and help them with their issues at the workplace. When this does not happen due to one reason or another, the HR is seen as the Bad party which is just working against employee interest. In reality, the fact is that the HR is neither on the side of the management, nor on the side of the employee. The purpose of HR is to meet its role in the organizational strategy. When we talk of strategy, many a times, HR gets ignored because of a feeling that HR cannot be responsible for anything strategic. The most well known function of HR such as recruitment, compensation, training etc. are seen as administrative work. To be really effective, HR needs to plan its employee recruitment, training, growth and development strategic considering the organizations strategic goals. The fact that a low attrition rate is the goal for HR in any organization is indicative of the fact that it is in the interest of HR to keep employees of the organization, happy. To change the perception among employees, HR personnel should first strive to ensure that employees understand the purpose of HR and what it can and cannot do. Rather than take the blame for all communication to the employees, HR should ensure that the employees realize from whom the communication is being made and that HR is just the medium for the communication. Many times, HR fails to communicate the reason for its policies and decisions and as a result takes the blame from employees. HR personnel......

What causes so many students to squander their future? In her 20s, Diana dreamed of becoming a scientific illustrator. She had not yet attended college, so she was thrilled when she received an acceptance letter from an undergraduate graphic arts program in New York City. But her excitement gave way to anxiety during the first days and weeks at her new school. Fretting about her performance, Diana sought out her professors for comfort and advice. She found them aloof and difficult to contact, however, because none of them posted office hours. When Diana reached out to the chair of the art department, he either was unavailable or expressed little interest in her concerns. Diana's academic fears were unfounded--her first semester grades turned out to be quite good. But lacking contact and support from her teachers, Diana felt lonely, dejected and lost in the crowd. She was so disillusioned, in fact, that she abruptly dropped out of college--and never went back. Now 38, Diana teaches English as a Second Language part-time for an international language school. Her pay is $10 per hour, and she has no opportunity for advancement. ......

Why Didn't We Know?

...A whistle-blower’s lawsuit alerts Galvatrens to deep flaws in its system for uncovering misconduct. How should management and the board respond? HBR CASE STUDY Why Didn’t We Know? by Ralph Hasson COPYRIGHT © 2007 HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL PUBLISHING CORPORATION. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. It was 9:30 in the evening of what had been a very long Friday when the phone rang in Chip Brownlee’s home study. On the line was Arch Carter, the lead director of Galvatrens, the Houston-based consumer products company that Chip had led as chairman and CEO for the past ten years. “I just got your voice mail,” Arch said. “The parts about a lawsuit and accusations that we manipulated our sales numbers certainly got my attention. What’s going on?” “At this point, I don’t know much,” Chip responded, “but I wanted to give you a heads-up. A former divisional sales manager has filed a lawsuit against the company, charging he was wrongfully terminated because he tried to report an illegal scheme to inflate sales.” Chip had received a copy of the lawsuit that afternoon. As he’d read through the complaint, he’d gotten a whole new perspective on the multiple departures that had rocked Sales dur- ing the past four weeks. The plaintiff was Mike Fields, who had left Galvatrens three weeks earlier. He claimed that he’d come across a plan devised by Greg Wilson, another divisional sales manager. According to Mike, Greg had proposed shipping goods to a few of his bigger customers, billing them, and booking the......

Why We Buy

...Page 1 Martin Lindstrom’s Buy•ology and Paco Underhill’s Why we Buy should be required reading for all business related major students. In Paco Underhill’s book he really digs in to and investigates that will make a person purchase on product from another. Paco Underhill is like the frontline specialist. On the sales floor is where he rules changing and adapting to consumers needs and wants. He is able to tell you why a product in one store is selling but not in another. Or why products that have huge advertisement budget have not really left the shelf. Now where Underhill is on the sales floor in his book, Martin Lindstrom digs into the minds of the consumers in his book Buy•ology. By doing this Lindstrom is able to identify why we purchase the products/ services we do. Now one thing that I really learned in Lindstrom’s book is that we lie. Consumers lie time and time again, not only are we lying to each other or surveys but to are selfs. Either that or we are to scared to tell the truth to anyone. In one of Lindstrom’s studies he was testing a new show for a U.S. audience that was already doing great in the U.K. The show was called Quizmania, to see how the audience was going to react to this show before it was even aired Lindstrom arranged at test of two hundred people. They had three shows for the group of two hundred to watch Quizmania, The Swan, and How Clean Is Your House? Now going into this study Lindstrom already new what people thought of both How......

Why We Broke Up

... Begin Reading Table of Contents Copyright Page For Charlotte—why we got together —D.H. + M.K. In a sec you’ll hear a thunk. At your front door, the one nobody uses. It’ll rattle the hinges a bit when it lands, because it’s so weighty and important, a little jangle along with the thunk, and Joan will look up from whatever she’s cooking. She will look down in her saucepan, worried that if she goes to see what it is it’ll boil over. I can see her frown in the reflection of the bubbly sauce or whatnot. But she’ll go, she’ll go and see. You won’t, Ed. You wouldn’t. You’re upstairs probably, sweaty and alone. You should be taking a shower, but you’re heartbroken on the bed, I hope, so it’s your sister, Joan, who will open the door even though the thunk’s for you. You won’t even know or hear what’s being dumped at your door. You won’t even know why it even happened. It’s a beautiful day, sunny and whatnot. The sort of day when you think everything will be all right, etc. Not the right day for this, not for us, who went out when it rains, from October 5 until November 12. But it’s December now, and the sky is bright, and it’s clear to me. I’m telling you why we broke up, Ed. I’m writing it in this letter, the whole truth of why it happened. Why We Hate Hr?

...Why We Hate HR In a knowledge economy, companies with the best talent win. And finding, nurturing, and developing that talent should be one of the most important tasks in a corporation. So why does human resources do such a bad job From: Issue 97 | August 2005 | Page 40 | By: Keith H. Hammonds Well, here's a rockin' party: a gathering of several hundred midlevel human (Yo, Wayne Newton! How's the 401(k)?) They are here, ensconced for two days at faux to confer on "strategic HR leadership," a conceit that sounds, to the lay observer, at once frightening and self contradictory. If not plain laughable. Because let's face it: After close to 20 years of hopeful rhetoric about becoming "strategic partners" with a "seat at the table" where the business decisions that matter are made, most human aren't nearly there. They have no seat, and the table is locked inside a conference room to which they have no key. HR people are, for most practical purposes, neither strategic nor leaders. I don't care for Las Vegas. And if it's not clear already, I don't like HR, either, which is why I'm here. The human force that blindly enforces nonsensical rules, resists creativity, and impedes constructive change. HR is the corporate function with the greatest potential the one that most consistently underdelivers. And I am here to find out why. Why are annual performance appraisals so time henchman for the chief financial officer,......

Why Do We Sleep

...Comp 1 Why do we sleep? Why do we sleep, how is it necessary? It is well known that you have to sleep. If you do not sleep you will die in a week or so. With that being said what does sleep do? We know it makes you feel alert and energized. Is it just evolution at work to keep us out of harm’s way at night? Is sleep our body’s way of conserving energy? Is it a way for our brains to imprint memories, and be creative? Does it clean our brain out? Do we actually need eight hours of sleep? Or is it a mix of a few reasons? Sleep is defiantly an important function in our bodies or we would not get so tired at night we just can’t stay awake. Our brains have a region devoted to letting us know when to sleep it is our biological clock. It knows when we should be awake and when we should sleep and you cannot change it knows that when the sun comes up its time to be awake and a few hours after dark it is time to sleep. But what does sleep do other than have you lay still and have dreams? Is evolution the reason? Are we safer by not hurting ourselves at night or worse getting preyed upon? That fact is debatable. By not moving around you won’t hurt yourself. And the predators will not find you as easily. But there are other things to worry about. What about natural disasters like fires, floods, tornados, and earth quakes? I would think being conscious would be more helpful with these situations even if you are not moving around. So I think we can rule out the evolutionary......
