Week 5 Discussion questions
Please respond to the following: * Provide at least two pros and cons for each of these scenarios. 1. A supermarket was interested in determining its image. It dropped a short questionnaire into the grocery bag of each customer before putting in the groceries.
This strategy comes with its pros and cons that could be looked into pretty deep. The thing I found most interesting is the obvious element of only getting the opinions of people who already shop there. They are asking people who already see their store with a good image because they chose their store over the competitor. Their survey wouldn’t get real information because it would be more informative to go to other grocery stores and try to hand out surveys asking what they like about that store and what keeps them from going to your grocery store. 2. To assess the extent of its trade area, a shopping mall stationed interviewers in the parking lot every Monday and Friday evening. Interviewers walked up to persons after they had parked their cars and asked them for their zip codes. Pros, non verbal cues are noticed and are helpful in studying the purchase behavior of customers, and the interviewing environment is controlled by the researcher of the shopping mall. Cons, there is no incentive to the customer for completing the survey and they may not take the time to do so and, it might annoy customers that are carrying their purchases out to their car.

3. To assess the popularity of a new movie, a major studio invited people to call a 900 number and vote yes, they would see it again, or no, they would not. Each caller was billed a two-dollar charge.
Two pros of this situation would be that people would give a yes and no answer. People would give the correct answer because it’s nothing to think about. Another would be collecting two dollars from everyone that…...

...and may really be great for an overall economy particularly if an economy is in an economic downturn because it results in the economy is growing. Moreover, if one is to look at government debt they may observe that government debt is generally internal and it is owed to the government's citizens and doesn't necessarily have to be paid back. Personal debt is what I see as blocking an overall economy with the latest illustration of the housing industry. Basically, people went so far into debt that they couldn't afford what they signed an agreement for thus negatively effecting every aspect of the housing economy till it was gravely crippled which dominoes into many people losing jobs and also the issue drastically increased. Discussion Question - Week 6

...Introduction This week study module is all about my learning styles and how best I make use of my ability to learn, as a student on the MBA program. It is true that I might have a distinctive learning style. This particular learning style might have an impact on how well I am coping in my studies. It is particular true that some might learn best through audial information and others through visuals. Even so, there exist many different theories that were presented to us this week that describes how we as students prefer to learn best. Preferred Learning Style Carl Jung (1875 – 1961) developed a theory on learning style that categorises people in terms of different learning personality patterns. He highlighted two important processes that are important in learning, 1) how we take in information and 2) what we do with that information once it is in our brain. He called the first perception and the second judgement. This theory led to the ‘Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator’ (MBTI). However Kolb (2005) believe our learning styles comes from ‘genetics, our life experiences and demand from our current environment’ (Kolb, 2005). Four different learning styles were also developed and the theory of experiential learning and learning style inventory. In reading the four different styles by Kolb, I can easily associate my learning to ‘The Accommodator’. This style can be attributed to those strong in experience and experimentation. I am a doer and this style is for those that enjoy doing...

I would also cover workload, setting priorities, getting help when needed, and setting reasonable goals. The selected vendor I would use would be in the form of an informal presentation. Open ended discussions and participation would be encouraged. Feedback would be solicited at the end of the training. ...HRM 530 Week 8 Discussion Week 8 #1 "Employee Development" Please respond to the following: Propose three ways that a mentor and a new employee orientation can assist employees with their career development. Evaluate the following criteria, in order of importance to you, in regard to the workplace: material wealth, success, career satisfaction, and work-life. Determine whether or not you believe there is a way to balance them. Provide two suggestions on how this could be done. Support your position. There are several ways in which a mentor program and new employee orientation can assist employees with their career development. In my current position, we have a mentor program that last for the first six months of a person’s time on the job. During that period, they are paired with a seasoned peer that is responsible for some on the job training as well as aiding them with navigating the corporate culture. This is important because it aids in helping a new employee feel a part of the organization. Employees who feel a part of the organization often feel more passionate about their work. Another reason a new employee orientation is important is because it introduces employees to corporate policies and procedures. Policies and procedures are basically the rules that an organization abides by. Often times, being able to introduce these at the onset of employment help an employee to understand what role they play in the organization, and also give insight into the......

Week 1 Discussion Question

...Discussion questions “Marketing is managing profitable customer relationships” (Armstrong & Kotler, 2011, p.4).  In marketing you want be able to get new customers, while also still satisfying your existing customer.  Word of mouth marketing from customers is business’s best and worst thing for a company.  If customer was impressed it makes a company look really good, but if customer was not impressed you could also lose customers because of what another customer said.  The end of day goal in sales is to profit through sales volume, and marketing’s end day goal is to profit through customer satisfaction. I do think that marketing and sales should be included as part of the sales organization within a company.  Marketing gets the customers in door, so then the sales team can sell the correct product to the customer.  Marketing and sales need to work hand and hand, to make sure marketing is getting the right people in the door to get the product.      Armstrong, G., & Kotler, P (2011). Marketing: An Introduction (10th ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice Hall. Planning is very important in marketing because you have to know how to market your products.  A market plan is made of strategic and tactical plans. “The marketing planning process consists of analyzing marketing opportunities, selecting target markets, designing marketing strategies, developing marketing programs, and managing the marketing effort”( Kotler & Keller, 2012, p15).  A market plan......

Cja394 Week 5 Discussion Question

...#1 Take a look at this link regarding the DHS and social media. What are the arguments for DHS to monitor social media and what are the arguments against? What are the impacts upon civil liberties having a government agency monitor your actions? Are the monitoring activities providing security? If so, is it worth losing civil liberties? As students of criminal justice, these are questions you should ask when questioning such policies. This article provides a window into what the government may be paying attention to, versus what their real goals in monitoring the sites may be. I think that to monitor these sites is a necessity as this is usually the very first place that breaking news is released and in the case of a real emergency, the appropriate officials will be aware of what is going on and can mobilize the correct response. Arguments in support of the monitoring relay this same sentiment. Arguments against the monitoring highlight the impact this may have on our right to freedom of speech and to some extent our expected right to privacy. Are the monitoring activities providing security? Yes, I think so. After the events of 9/11, not single statement against the government or any of its agencies should be taken lightly. I think that we do have the right to free speech, but today is a much different day than it was even 20 years ago. Social media has become a terrorists’ recruiting tool and monitoring activity online is in the best interest of the Nation and our safety...

Post your response to the following: What is DNS? How do users benefit from it? Provide a brief description of the DNS process to resolve a URL to its IP address. DNS stands for Domain Name System and essentially operates like a phone book. It keeps a list of computer names and IP addresses. Instead of typing a numerical address into his or her web browsers address bar, a user can input the name of the computer (www. hotmail. com). The request is forwarded to the users computers DNS client, and from there to the DNS server, which then forwards the user to that specific address. For users who are not mathematically inclined, it is easier to remember and input the name of a computer than it is to remember and input all of the numbers and decimals in an IP address. Also, there is no reason for DNS to rely on TCp because usually, only a single data packet is used to send......
