ESPN First Take - Stephen Curry Will Win MVP Over James Harden, LeBron James & Russell Westbrook ?

First Take - ESPN Topics - ESPN 2 - ESPN.com

First Take is an American morning sports talk program on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD. Two back-to-back two-hour episodes air each weekday from Monday through Friday, with the live episode airing from 10 a.m. ET until noon, followed by a repeat.

Skip Bayless (born December 4, 1951) is an American sports columnist, author, and television personality who is best known as the star (with Stephen A. Smith) of the ESPN2 show, First Take.

Stephen Anthony (A.) Smith born October 14, 1967), more commonly known as Stephen A., is an American television personality, host, radio host, and former sports journalist. Smith is a commentator on ESPN First Take, where he appears with Skip Bayless and Cari Champion. Smith also currently hosts The Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco Show on ESPN Radio New York 98.7 FM and is a featured columnist for ESPNNY.com.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the pre-eminent men's professional basketball league in North America, and is widely considered to be the premier men's professional basketball league in the world. Association Most Valuable Player (MVP) is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given since the 1955–56 NBA season to the best performing player of the regular season.

• Determine the issue that is being discussed and the conclusion that is drawn on that issue.

The issue being discussed is what player in the NBA season of 2015 will win the NBA's Most Valuable Player Award. Specifically what was discussed was will Stephen curry of the Golden State Warriors win the award over his athletic contemporaries James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Lebron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder. All of the players mentioned are great candidates but the conclusion that both men came away with was let's wait and see although they believe Stephen Curry and James Harden are the most deserving of the lot.

• Explain the reasons that are given for that conclusion in the example that you identify.

The reason this was brought up was for the fact that according to ESPN.com Forecast Panel poll it had Stephen Curry as the player the nation believes would win the 2014-2015 NBA MVP race at 80.5% of the votes. James Harden received 18.3% the second largest on the poll and Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook came in with 1.2% of the votes.
Addition information used is based on what they have seen from these players throughout the NBA season.

ESPN stats state that Westbrook is averaging 27.5 points per game, 8.6 assist, 7.2 rebounds, field goal percentage 42% and team record of 43-36.
Harden averages 27.5 points per game, 6.9 assist, 5.7 rebounds, field goal 44% and team record of 53-26
Curry averages 23.9 points per game, 7.8 assist, 4.3 rebounds, 48% field goal percentage, and a team record of 64-15

• Finally, explain whether or not you were convinced by the argument. If you were convinced, explain why you found the argument strong or sound. If you were not convinced, explain why you found the argument weak and lacking.

I feel their arguments were not convincing because it truly didn't leave an outcome, the stance was more of a "let's wait and see approach and also feeling that two of them probably deserve it". This was not much of a significant stance that I would have expected from the analyst. They should have picked "their" MVP winner and gave more concrete facts as I did above but also include the reasoning's of strength of schedule, injuries, and players around each individual to well round out the argument itself.

Preparing employees to recognize and respond to social engineering techniques requires training, awareness, and accountability. By reviewing and following the employees organizational security policies through training, they can determine the appropriate response to whether or not they should provide sensitive information requested from them through social engineering. ...Should abortion be legal? PHI-103 Legalized Abortion Abortion is not an easy decision. In society today abortion has been a very important issue for thousands of years. Everyone has their own opinions and views about abortion. There are two different types of views, the pro-choice activists and there are pro-life activists. Whatever side one decides to take, the argument seems to be pretty equal. For every point supporting abortion there is a counter-point stating just the opposite. The Pro-choice activists believe that it is the woman’s right to choose whether or not to give birth. There are people in our society who believe that abortion should be illegal. For the people who oppose abortion are called the pro-life. A woman should have the right to do as she will with her body and whatever may be inside. Abortion may not be an easy decision but why be against women who make the choice to have one. For thousands of years women have had abortions and many more continue to make the choice of having an abortion for many good reasons. If the government tries to outlaw abortion it will only force women into doing them in a dark and that can be very dangerous to their health, embarrassing, and expensive. Legalized abortions helps protect a women’s health, decreases the world’s population and keeps women from having unwanted pregnancies. Many women had died or have been severely hurt before abortion was legalized. Doctors would perform back alley abortions and at a pricey......

...Pro 595 Week 2 Discussions Key Risk: 1. Key risks that exist for any project are risks that impact the scope of the project, the schedule of the project and the cost of the project. The timeline involved with these risk would follow the course of the project itself and would need to be determined early on to avoid major problems, delays and increases in budget to that particular project. If the project scope is impacted due to risk, the schedule of the project can and will change which therefore could increase the cost of the project and make it no longer feasible to pursue. Delays or changes in schedule for planned risk or even unplanned risk do not necessarly impact the scope, however it does impact the cost of the project. Risk associated with cost impact both schedule and scope of the project because if the project cost more due to risk the project may need to be scaled back and have items removed and the opposite can happen as well, additional items may need to be added and impact the timeline or schedule that was already planned for the project. 2. Risk should be categorized based on which risk is more likely to occur or probability, then its severity. For example, at a construction site, the likely hood that bad weather will occur should have a high probability but it can have a severity that ranges from low to high depending on the season and the type of weather that can occur at that time. Bad weather itself can cause delays to schedule and the overall......

...An Abortion Argument Barbara Santorelli PHI 103 Instructor Cornell Horn September 30, 2013 An Abortion Argument Abortion is a hot issue in the United States today. Abortion is currently legal in all 50 states however; some states have a 20-week ban law. This law bans all abortions after 20 weeks of a woman’s last menstrual period and only allows for exceptions in cases where a woman’s life is threatened. Folks on both sides of the isle on the abortion issue are extremely passionate about their views and opinions in regards to the right to abortions in our country. Although there are many individuals and groups that disagree on this issue, abortions should not be legal since the act of abortion is the killing of innocent human life and having an abortion is also a great risk to the health and life of the woman that is having the abortion. There has long been a big debate among abortion supporters and those who oppose abortions, as to just when it is considered that human life begins. It has been a question for centuries whether the unborn is truly a “person”. If we consider the unborn to be a “person” then the unborn should also have an inalienable right to life just as everyone else does. Human life has many stages; a human embryo and the human fetus are early stages of human life. According to Lugosi (2005) historically common law determined that when a pregnant woman feels “quickening” which is the movement of the baby, this is evidence of life (Para.......

Noting how previously “legitimate” forms of judgment and prejudice, over time, correctly came to be observed as unfairly and immorally damaging towards definite classes of people, Singer argues that the time has come for a similar pledge to the rights of species that walk on four legs instead of two. ...Critical Thinking Journal Brien Derrick PHI 103: Informal Logic Prof. Michael Rings December 22, 2014 Initially after reviewing the week 1 requirements and the introduction to the “Critical Thinking Quiz” I was confident of my knowledge, that confidence was quickly removed after taking the quiz and missing 8 of the 25. I was a little down on myself and will admit that the quiz was much tougher than I initially thought. After taking the quiz and watching the videos several times I believe that this course is trying to teach students different ways to comprehend not just this course but others as well. If successful those students can carry that knowledge forward with them in their personal and professional lives, hopefully making a difference along the way. Philosophy was and still is used as a way to understand the human nature and the reality of the way we live (Mosser, 2011). There is no reason why we as humans could apply some of the tools provided in this course to better our lives and the people we encounter daily. One of my goals for changing critical thinking and reasoning skills would be to improve my knowledge, I believe that to a certain extent philosophy could help me to become a better father, teacher, and student. Another area that would be beneficial is Logic and Reasoning. My current place of employment is very entertaining one reason is because the people that I work with are for the most part very enjoyable and the other is because no one......
