... Knowledge Area Module VI Contemporary Issues and the Ethical Delivery of Health Services Student: Harold Taitt, harold.taitt@waldenu.edu Student ID # A00293212 Program: Ph.D. Health Services Specialization: Health Management and Policy Faculty Mentor: Dr. Robert Hoye, robert.hoye@waldenu.edu Faculty Assessor: Dr. Jim Goes, jim.goes@waldenu.edu Walden University May 10, 2013 Abstract Breadth Component In this age of rapidly evolving technological advances, many of the legal and ethical issues that are challenging the delivery of health care and the health care profession are new. As we confront the legal, moral, and ethical aspects of health care, we are seldom faced with decisions that require or are resolved by simple right or wrong answers (Edge & Kreiger, 1998). In the Breadth component of KAM VI, I focus on several ethical theories and how those theories influence the way ethical issues and concerns are addressed and managed in the allocation and delivery of health care services. I critically assess and evaluate those theories, concepts, and derivative principles as they impact important decisions and the implications of those decisions within the context of social change and with special emphasis on health care management and policy. In addition, I discuss the key assumptions on which the selected theories are constructed, compare and contrast the writers’ interpretations across theories, and conclude by providing a critical commentary on the merits......

Schedule Vi (Annexures).

...format called Schedule VI. In this view a notification was published in the Gazette of India vide GSR no. 414 dated 21.03.1961. Government of India globalised the Indian economy. In this course several foreign companies have extended their business operation to India and vice versa. For marketability of shares the listing has been made worldwide. But reporting pattern is different between the countries. United States follows US GAAP (Generally accepted accounting policies) whereas other part of the globe follows International Accounting Standards (IAS) but India follows Indian Accounting Standards (AS). To bridge the gap between the policies a thought came up to bring International Financial Reporting System (IFRS) which will be globally acceptable. But due to major differences between IFRS, US GAAP and IAS, the countries are not able to put their consent totally. During this discussion India Government has agreed to implement IFRS with effect from 01.04.2011. But Committee consists of ICAI, ICWAI and Ministry could not come to a conclusion to wipe out the major differences between IFRS and AS which was very much required for implementation. Major differences are CBDT (Income Tax), SEBI (Reporting structure) etc. Due to this, Revised Schedule VI idea has cropped in via media to IFRS which Government of India feels a path towards IFRS. 2.

Justification of Protection of Intellectual Property Vis-a-Vis Trade Secrets

...Justification of Protection of Intellectual Property vis-a-vis Trade Secrets PAPER V Submitted By: SARTHAK KAPILA ROLL NO. 48, P.G.D.,I.P.R. – 2014 Justification of Protection of Intellectual Property vis-a-vis Trade Secrets Intellectual property pertains to any original creation of human intellect such as artistic, literally, technical or scientific creation. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) refers to the legal rights given by the State to the inventor/creator to protect his invention/creation for a certain period of time. These legal rights confer an exclusive right to the inventor/creator or his assignee to fully utilize his invention/creation for a given period of time. Countries have laws to protect intellectual property for two main reasons. One is to give statutory expression to the moral and economic rights of creators in their creations and the rights of the public in access to those creations. The second is to promote, as a deliberate act of Government policy, creativity and the dissemination and application of its results and to encourage fair trading which would contribute to economic and social development. The term ‘Intellectual Property’, denotes rights over intangible object of the person whose mental effort created it and refers to a loose cluster of legal doctrines that regulate the uses of different sorts of ideas and insignias. The subject matter of intellectual property is very wide and includes literary and artistic works, films,......

How Did Henry Vi Guarentee Loyalty

...* How did Henry VI guarantee loyalty? After defeating Richard III at Bosworth, Henry VII faced many difficulties in holding on to the power he gained. Many Yorkist’s disliked Henry VII while others believed they had claims to the throne that should be addressed. During Henry’s reign he made sure that the nobility’s power was reduced to reduce the threat of Henry himself being overthrown. Firstly, Henry VII passed special laws called attainders. These allowed people to be declared guilty of treason without a trial, often leading to execution. Henry believed that the execution of the family member would cripple the family for good. Also, the property that was owned by the family of the guilty person would be absorbed into the crown, increasing Henry’s land and wealth. This brought in extra finance to the King. Henry believed that nobles were a threat to him, and if they got too wealthy they could pose a threat to the throne. Henry largely abandoned Edward IV tradition of rewarding loyal people with rewards such as land, because he didn’t want to increase the power of nobles, and instead aimed to control people’s loyalty through fear. Therefore by using attainders, not only was he reducing the land and power nobles had, but he was increasing the possessions of his own, therefore making himself more powerful. Therefore Henry’s use of enforcers could have deterred nobles from wanting to become too powerful, because they knew the severe consequences that could......

Management Styles: American Vis-a-Vis Japanese

...Japan and the U.S. share a low-growth economy configeration and their management styles are beginning to merge. Management Styles: American vis-a-vis Japanese Charles Y. Yang THE JAPANESE STYLE of management has in recent vears been drawing a great deal of attention from American managers because of its apparent ability to insure organization stability in the face of unexpected external changes. At the same time, a slower rate of economic growth in Japan is compelling Japanese executives to .search for improvement iu management efficiency by focusing their attention on the American type of management. FALL 1977 This trend to draw on each other's strengths in order to better cope with growing external pressures is significant because both eountries now share a similar socio-economic situation characterized by a low rate of economic growth, a high degree of vulnerability to external variations and an advanced stage of technological development. A comparative analysis of the quality of management must first determine what is to be measured. 23 If the criterion is profit performance, most of the major Japanese companies compare favorably with leading American firms, and that is where the comparison ends. What is more meaningful is to measure the extent to which the underlying factors have contributed to profit perfonnance in the past, and how they will continue to function in the new socio-economic setting. These underlying factors consist of......
