In my assignment I will write about different electrical and non-electrical methods for communicating in a business using examples of the methods they use for different types of audience.

Audience requirements

Audience requirements are needed to be taken into consideration when presenting or delivering a presentation to a group. For example you need to take into consideration;

Age and attention span
You need to consider how old your audience is, as if you are talking to someone who is young they won’t have the attention to listen to what you are saying or be easily distracted, you would think about the way you spoke to people and change to suit your audience Gender
If you are talking about a specific product that you know won’t appeal to your audience they won’t listen to what is being said and overall won’t have an interest, making sure you know a bit about your audience will benefit the business as it will show to the audience that they took the time into researching before presenting their product.

Ethnicity/ religion
Making sure you use the correct words and making sure you don’t offend their religion or culture. Dressing correctly an example of this is if you know your audience’s religion is one where women have to cover their bodies, then it is your responsibility to respect this and wear the correct clothing, also if you have an opinion about their religion or views then it is best to keep it to yourself and you don’t want to cause offense to potential customers.

Special needs including disability, reading/hearing/learning impairments
You will need to take into consideration if someone is in a wheelchair is the room easily accessible, is their room to accommodate the wheelchair and people still get in and out, if someone is deaf having a signer there if they can’t understand lip reading and if they can making sure you speak…...

...receive feedback – Looking at people lets them know that the receiver is concentrating on the content of their speech. When eye contact is not maintained, this might indicate lack of interest. Communication may not be a smooth process if a listener averts their eyes too frequently 2. To let a partner know when it is their ‘turn’ to speak – This is related to the above point. Eye contact is more likely to be given continuously by a listener than a speaker. When a person has finished what they have to say, they will look directly at the other person, which gives a signal that the arena is open. If someone does not want to be interrupted, eye contact will be avoided. Good eye contact is an important practice for anyone counselling a client 3. To communicate something about a relationship between people – When you dislike someone, you tend to avoid eye contact and pupil size is often reduced as well. The maintenance of positive eye contact signals attraction or interest in a partner Facial Expression Your facial expression says a lot about how you are feeling. While you might be giving a confident pitch to investors, your facial expression might betray any nervousness or uncertainty that you are feeling. Some speakers like to practise in front of a mirror, but you will probably find it more natural to record a short presentation. Keep an eye out for anything you do that you think your audience might find distracting. For example, do you wrinkle your brow when......

Passing an argument by reference is a two-way communication from the main program to the module and it allows modification of the variable in the calling program 7. Global variables make a program difficult to debug because any statement in a program file can change the value of a global variable. ...EC142 Unit 3 Assignment Chapter 4: # 4, 7, 9, 10 4. What effect would a rule stating that university students must lie in university dormitories have on the price elasticity of demand for dormitory space? What impact might this in turn have on room rates? Answer: The effect of the price elasticity of demand would be more inelastic for adding the rule in the university. The room rates impact would increase as students oppose to follow the rules while they are in that University. 7. You are chairperson of a state tax commission responsible for establishing a program to raise new revenue through exercise taxes. Why would elasticity of demand be important to you in determining the products on which the taxes should be levied? Answer: If I were the chairperson of a state tax commission responsible, I would select the products that were price inelastic, because the tax increase will increase the tax revenue. Elasticity of demand would be very important to me considering that “the higher tax on a product that has an elastic demand will bring in less tax revenue.” (Econ pg. 86) In this case, goods and services such as cigarette, liquor and phone service are the helpful to excise taxes because these are the products that have not decrease in demand when an excise tax is levied. 9. Because of a legal settlement over state health care claims, in 1999 the U.S tobacco companies had to raise the average price of a pack of cigarettes from $1.95 to $2.45. The decline price of...

Distinguished-level: Describe the risk relationship between stocks, bonds, and T-bills, using the standard deviation of returns as the measure of risk. Answer Proficient-level: Risk is defined as the volatility of an asset’s returns over time. Specifically, the standard deviation of returns is used to measure risk. This computation measures the deviation from the average return. The idea is to use standard deviation, a measure of volatility of past returns to proxy for how variable returns are expected to be in the future. Answer Distinguished-level: Stocks and bonds have very different risk-return characteristics. In general, while stocks are more volatile than bonds, over the long run, stocks are expected to yield higher returns than bonds. By varying the mix of stocks and bonds in a portfolio, an investor can achieve her desired level of risk exposure. However, the level of risk in a portfolio depends not only on the risks of individual assets, but also on the movements of the individual assets in the portfolio. 2.
