Road Trips

...Thomas1 Travis J. Thomas Ms. Janet Call English 112 October 6, 2013 Out of all possible road trips – the best one is by car. The moment when you finish packing, put everything inside the, sit inside it, buckle up look at your family sitting next to you, smile and…go! And then begins the most wonderful part of the road trip. It is not the place you are heading to – it is what you see from the opened window of the car. The best part is when you leave you home before the dawn. The DAWN! I really like to meet the first flashes of the awakening new day. Long before the dawn when you look in the direction of the east you see how the sun informs the world about its arrival. It paints the dark sky with its beams and the last stars disappear. I love to meet the sun, while driving out a road trip in a car. I am amazed by its game and its morning flashes of the sun rays. First, you notice a crimson-red stripe on the horizon. Then, the stripe becomes orange, pink and eventually the sun fills everything around. And it always seems like for the first time in your life you see a green leaflet, the trees, which grow right next to your car window and a light gaze over the nature which waking up to meet a new day. Thomas2 Two seasons of the year are perfect for a road trip – spring and autumn. Spring is my favorite season of the year. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful time of the year. Because when you are sitting in a car on your way to your destination - you open the car......

Buxton Trip

...accomplishment of the assigned outdoor activities in the Buxton Residential trip. Although, the module was meant for learning from those outdoor activities to develop one’s managerial skills, I have seen it as a continuous learning process that started from my under-graduate course, where I had the opportunity to come across some theories of leadership and team management. According to Knowles (1975), “We must learn from everything we do; we must exploit every experience as a learning experience…. It is a lifelong process.” Keeping all these in mind, the PASS module has arranged its courses accordingly and thus gave us the opportunity to go through various outdoor tasks in Buxton Residential, with the help of which we can analyze and assess our personality to work accordingly in an organization. Also, the indoor task of Poster Peer Assessment did the needful in understanding what team work is in an organizational background. The purpose of writing this essay is thus what we learn from this module and accordingly how can we improve on it, so that we could fit properly in our respective career jobs in the world of management. According to Schein (1980), group can be psychologically stated as a number of people who communicates with one another, mentally conscious about each other, identify each other as a cluster or group and corresponds objectively towards attainment of pre-determined goals. Within the first few days of commencement of our course, we were divided into 3......

Next, we all took a turn and pulled one out of the sack the trip ideas that were pulled trip to the Wallowa Mountains, trip to the Oregon coast, and then Yakima, Wa was pulled from the bag. Once I saw what my mum and my son pulled, my paper got tossed over my shoulder. The challenge now were to pick from the two options trip to the Wallowa Mountains or the trip to the Oregon coast. We ponder on what the Oregon coast and the Wallowa Mountains offered in actives, accommodations, and weather in late March. We were down to trip to the Wallowa Mountains and the Oregon coast. As we looked at these two, we noticed these were just a few of the more common spring break trips. These two place Oregon coast and the Wallowa Mountains are still far from being a like each other. Then my family was curious about other things such as accommodations and the weather in late March. The weather in Oregon can be unpredictable in late March at the Oregon coast also at the Wallowa Mountains. The weather can be sunny one moment to down pour rain. The Oregon coast often in late March can be foggy and stormy with high winds. Then the Wallowa Mountains in late March can be very cold to a sunny warm day, even at times get traces of snow. During some storms on the Oregon coast hotels may lose power. Although losing power would not matter camping. When the Wallowa Mountains have......

This report is made for Mr. Indrajith Aponsu who is our Microeconomics lecturer. In this report I and my group members have gone in death of the process that we learnt at the tea factory. The process that we learnt briefly and the main points, we have discussed it in detail during this report. Furthermore, we enjoyed the entire trip and I think we are really fortunate to learn about tea. To learn a subject like this is a once in a life time opportunity. This opportunity will not work to all the people. We drink tea in large scales, but we don’t realize how this is processed and graded for consumers. Though we don’t get a chance to taste the highest grade in Sri Lanka it is good that we saw how the tea is processed in a factory which is situated in the south. As we all know the highest grade is exported to all the European countries and other countries all around the world. Finally we take this opportunity to thank our instructor for taking us on this trip and also for joining with us to go on the trip. History of Sri Lankan Tea The Sri Lankan tea history goes back to 1824 where British brought the very first tea plant from China. This tea plant was planted in the Royal......

A Trip to France

...We calmed down and followed our parents around. After some time, after seeing where all the princesses lived, we came to the conclusion that Disneyland wasn’t as fun as we had imagined it would be. We saw the princess parade and a place where you could see animals like horses, chickens and rabbits. I think that was the highlight on that trip. Anyway, sometimes it doesn’t matter what you do, but who you do it with, so I would say that I was very lucky to have my sister with me. Of course my parents were to have a bit of ‘fun’ too, so they chose for our family to take a guided trip on a boat. I remember we sailed past Notre Dame. At the time I only knew the building from the Disney movie, so I think I was expecting a man jumping around on the top of the building or something. Another thing I remember was that, when the guide on the boat first mentioned Notre Dame, all the Chinese people raised and for some seconds I only noticed the sound of their cameras. My parents found them quite funny, maybe because the Chinese are known for taking pictures of everything. Pictures of things many people would consider unimportant. Suddenly the boat trip was over. I realized I had fallen asleep. I don’t think it had anything to do with me being tired; I simply believe I was extremely bored and I couldn’t find anything more exciting to do. We got off the boat and walked to the Eiffel tower. When you see the Eiffel tower in TV or in pictures, you don’t get overwhelmed by its size, like......

Trip

...like to talk about today was my visit to Mount WUYI which is located in Fujian province. Last winter vacation, my family and I decided to go to Hainan. Unfortunately, we were informed that Hainan was hit from typhoon 2 days before our departure. As the city repaired damaged, there were still powerful following storms threatening this region. Out of a choice, we canceled our trip. However, it was not often the case that my family and I could get time together to have a holiday trip. In order to fully enjoy our vacation as we planned, we changed our destination to WUYI city. Due to the sudden change, we failed to buy train tickets and had to drive there on our own. It turned out that visiting places like Mount WUYI is perfect for self-driving. It was estimated as a 3-hour driving so we rented a SUV and switched drivers on the way. Each of us were responsible for a part of the highway, and whenever we saw something fascinating, we just pulled over the car to have a closer look at it. I guess those are the merits of renting a car and going on a trip with family. Mount WUYI, a very popular scenic area in China is famous for the natural conservation of numerous ancient plant species and wildlife. The popular activities there include hiking and drifting. The first day we rode a raft down the streams. The raft we took was tied by bamboo, and there were two men using long poles to steer the craft down the water. When drifting smoothly on the streams, we were impressed by the......

Disney Trip

...Where Dreams Came True The 3000 Festival Disney was an action packed adventure full of music, performance, roller coasters, and Mickey Mouse. The trip could not have been better planned and executed by Mr. Band Teacher and our tireless chaperones: Doug, Amy, Nate and Laura , Terri Dona , Don and Renee l, Holly, and Dave and Lorri . Best of all, the students managed to follow the rules and have the time of their lives. We began our journey with performance Friday, where we not only toured Disney’s Hollywood studios, but performed our concert Music and Marching music as well. Our afternoon concert performance in regal black concert attire took place within an extravagant Disney performance hall. After the 50+ performers of the wind ensemble and symphonic band played, an upbeat professor spoke with us about our performance in a short clinic. What an indescribable feeling? Later that same evening, the band dressed in their favorite uniforms marched through Disney Hollywood studios! As we marched past the giant blue Wizard Mickey Hat, massive spot lights hit the Marching Band. This march was a great moment for the entire band, a fantastic final march for this year’s graduating members. The following days Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were full of Disney parks, and band members collectively stormed every attraction throughout the Magic Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, and Animal Kingdom. Sunday evening, however, was quite Blue. After a sumptuous, pleasant dinner at Bubba Gump’s,...

Four Day Trip

...Lindsay Hodley Mrs. Thomas AVID: Period. 5 April 24, 2012 I had a wonderful opportunity to attend an AVID road trip. I was allowed to visit eleven colleges and universities. I had a great time those four days and it was very helpful. Since I am the first of my family to attend college this gave me a small feel of the schools. I had the most amazing time with friends and volunteers. When we first got here it was very fun and we got to visit many places. What I enjoyed the most was having to change the way we acted. We had to be more professional, byt being more respectful at the colleges and the hotels that we stayed at. I had no idea that these sort of things had something different to do with ones self. I do believe that coming here has inspired me to be more successful in life. I have been the oldest daughter in the family and I do feel the pressure of having to go through all this. Colleges can be done differently and the way that things have changed really gave me a different feel of the school. I also enjoyed the students that shared this experience with me. Most of us got even closer and now I can call them my second family. Since we had to be in hotels together and be in a bus the whole way it was interesting how people can act throughout the days. I know that I really missed my family, but at the same time I was having the time of my life. Not to mention that in our tours since my teachers had older students tour us around, some let us go inside their dorms. I......

Choir Trips

...Lynsey Chapman Comp 1 Instructor: Newell Essay 2 Choir trips to New York City and Orlando During my four years in high school I participated in choir. Because of insufficient funds our school isn’t able to send both our band and choir each year, so our choir had a chance to go on a trip every other year. My sophomore year we went to Orlando Florida, and my senior year we went to New York City. While both trips were fun, the Florida trip was more focused on the competition and the New York trip was more sightseeing. To raise money for the trips, we had to do many fundraisers. These fundraisers included That’s my Pan, where you can choose what kind of pan you want, the color of the lid and also the design and saying on the lid. There is also personalized utensils you can get and cutting boards. We also sold pizzas, candy, chocolate, and cookie dough. We also had a car wash to raise money. On the Florida trip it was nice to have more freedom to go where we wanted to go. During that week, we stayed at one of the hotels on Disney world grounds so we were able to get up when we wanted and take a bus to which resort we wanted to go explore. During the Florida trip, we spent most of our time at the resorts but we slept in when we could. When we went to each of the resorts, to be safe we had to be in a group of three or four people. If something happened at any of the resorts during the whole week, there were a couple chaperones assigned to be at each resort. When we were in......

A Trip to Dubai

... We went on a number of trips outside the hotel including a trip to “Ski Dubai”. If you had told me ten years ago that I would be skiing in Dubai I would have said that something drastic had happened to the climate. Instead they have built the world’s largest indoor ski centre which has real snow and even a working chairlift! I spent a whole afternoon skiing down the slopes with my dad while my mom sat on the chairlift and enjoyed hot chocolate in the restaurant halfway down the slope. At the bottom of the slope was an area for children where they can play amongst snow figures and have the mandatory snowball fights! During our stay we also travelled to the Atlantis Palm, Dubai. This is an ultra-modern hotel based on the end of the manmade Palm Island. To give you some idea of the scale of the island it took us 15 minutes to drive from one end to the other.... and the traffic was pretty clear! At the Atlantis we saw their huge indoor fish tank which was host to innumerable fish, rays and sharks. Some of the suites have walls of glass up against the tank and so you can get a nice shock when you wake up in the morning! Other places that we visited and enjoyed were the local markets and a boat trip on Dubai creek. We also had a fantastic lunch at Jumeirah Beach hotel which is just opposite the world’s only 7 star hotel the Burj Al Arab. We were meant to go on a jeep safari in the desert but it was raining and so we couldn’t. Dubai gets about 3 days of rain a year and we......
