Converting a Fraction to a Decimal
Do the following steps to convert a fraction to a decimal:
For example: Convert 4/9 to a decimal. * Divide the numerator of the fraction by the denominator (e.g. 4 ÷ 9=0.44444) * Round the answer to the desired precision.
Rounding Decimals to the Nearest Hundredth
Rounding decimals is very similar to rounding other numbers. If the thousandths place of a decimal is four or less, it is dropped and the hundredths place does not change. For example, rounding 0.843 to the nearest hundredth would give 0.84.
If the thousandths place is five through nine, the hundredths place is increased by one. The decimal 0.846 rounded to the nearest hundredth is 0.85.…...

Why Its Wrong

...: Why it's Wrong How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live? Imagine not having any say in whether or not you want to have a life. Well babies don't have a choice in their mother’s womb. If a woman decides to abort her baby, they can't do anything about their life being taken away from them. Their whole future is demolished. I believe abortion is wrong when committing it for a selfish reason. One reason why abortion is wrong is because there are many other safer solutions. In the article, Why Do More People Choose Abortion Over Adoption?, Kristi Burton Brown stated: “In the USA, there are approximately two million infertile couples waiting to adopt, many times regardless of the child’s medical problems such as Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, HIV infection or terminally ill. Dr. Brad Imler, President of America’s Pregnancy Helpline, confirms the challenge of waiting couples by stating: Only 1% of the Helpline’s annual 40,000 clients inquires about adoption.” Putting him/her up for adoption will give them a better chance at a happier life rather than abortion. The solution for a baby should not be death. If it was for a selfish solution, you're sacrificing a life many other families would love to raise as their own. Another reason why I don't support abortion is because it can harm the mother as well. You are highly risking the mother's life and affecting her. Not only does it have an effect on the USA but, it affects other countries as well like Spain.......

Righ and Wrong

...accepted the ruling of the courts. And for him to escape he would be sending the wrong message to his peers. He would be telling them that all of his ideals and believes really had no meaning to him and that all this his search for the truth was just a big lie. Socrates's argument proceeds from the statement of a perfectly general moral principle to its application in his particular case: * One ought never to do wrong (even in response to the evil committed by another). * But it is always wrong to disobey the state. * Hence, one ought never to disobey the state. And since avoiding the sentence of death handed down by the Athenian jury would be an action in disobedience the state, it follows Socrates ought not to escape. The argument is a valid one, so we are committed to accepting its conclusion if we believe that its premises are true. The general commitment to act rightly is fundamental to a moral life, and it does seem clear that Socrates's escape would be a case of disobedience. But what about the second premise, the claim that it is always wrong for an individual to disobey the state? Surely that deserves further examination. In fact, Socrates pictures the laws of Athens proposing two independent lines of argument in favor of this claim: First, the state is to us as a parent is to a child, and since it is always wrong for a child to disobey a parent, it follows that it is always wrong to disobey the state. (Crito 50e) Here we might raise serious doubts......

Cheating - Is It Wrong?

...To answer this question, one must first define “cheating” outside of a dictionary. At the core, to “cheat” is to obtain an advantage that you wouldn’t normally have. The method by which the advantage is gained doesn’t matter as much as the reason for the advantage. Digging a little deeper, a person or team may encounter a situation that they are unable to overcome with their current skillset, or that the time constraints do not allow them to resolve. In these cases, they may turn to outside assistance to achieve the objective. Is that wrong? It may or may not be, depending on the specific situation. Case-in-point: a student must complete a trigonometry exam in order to graduate. While the student received high marks in every other class, and has managed to complete the trigonometry homework without extra assistance, they struggle with the time constraints of tests and exams. Given no time constraint, they have always been able to complete the work. To help with this, they jot down notes from every section of the course material in a single sheet and bring it with them to the exam. In most cases this would be considered “cheating”, because the student is using something that they were not provided at the time of the exam, even though the notes do not specifically reference the exam materials. The rise of technology has further clouded the barrier between “cheating” and preparedness. In a computer-based classroom, there are monitoring tools that allow the......

Leadership Go Wrong

...Enron, Hurricane Katrina Examples of Leadership Gone Wrong Poor crisis leadership was on display after Hurricane Katrina and during the financial crisis The New Orleans masses who huddled in the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina, the Enron retirees who lost their life savings, and the laid-off workers buried under the economic ruin of financial companies all live with a simple truth. Just as spectacularly as great leadership can spark success, failed leadership can bring down cities, businesses, and economies. The collapse of major financial companies starting with Bear Stearns, the stunningly botched reaction to Katrina, the inept federal response to tips about Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme, and the financial sleight of hand that brought down Enron are only the latest examples of leadership failure. "We keep making the same stupid mistakes, generation after generation," says William Baker, who holds a doctorate in industrial psychology and is the journalist in residence at Fordham University. Many of the most stunning leadership disasters have common ingredients, such as executives who lack integrity and build organizational cultures where dissent isn't heard. "Leadership is not position. It's moral authority. Moral authority comes from following universal and timeless principles like honesty, integrity, treating people with respect," says Stephen Covey, author of several bestselling books on leadership and self-improvement, including The 7 Habits of Highly......

Abortion: the Wrong Choice

...Abortion: The Wrong Choice Tammy Edwards COM/172 September 15, 2010 Sunny Rowland Abortion: The Wrong Choice Nearly half of all pregnancies among American women are unintended, and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion (Guttmacher Institute, Incidence of Abortion, May 2010). Abortion should be made illegal, because a fetus is a baby, no person has a right to take another's life, and an unborn baby cannot make the decision to live or die. A Fetus is a Baby While some view abortion as something people should be able to choose, others say abortion is a great evil, which is destroying the moral fabric of society Cline (2010). Many of the arguments turn on the status of the fetus: Is a fetus a person? A fetus is indeed a baby. From the moment of conception, a fetus is alive and growing inside the mother’s womb. For this reason, the fetus is a baby and considered a living, breathing being. If this were not so, then why is there a law in the state of California that if a person murders a pregnant female, that person is then charged with two counts of murder instead of just one Simon (2004)? This is true no matter how far along the mother is, one day or nine months. Therefore, this makes the fetus a real person. No Person Has a Right to Take a Life No person has the right to take another person’s life. Many skeptics say that the Bible does not say anything specifically about abortion. That there are no references to women seeking to end pregnancies,......

Nothing Wrong

...Erin Moya Creed Writing & Rhetoric 20 October 2014 Nothing Wrong They never told me how hard it really is. They sold me on the false idolatry, the romantic notion that the world was so vast and sublime that I can, one day, make it my own. They made me believe in all this ideology that we no longer need. We’ve evolved from the so called “American Dream”, yet, we still do not realize that the real American Dreams lives inside us, and the one we fetishize is merely just a twinkle in the eyes of our great grandfathers. The world was served to me on a silver platter, and once I realized it’s actually just a two dimensional image on a bright little screen, it became this intangible thing that I’m supposed to devote my life working towards until the day I meet my impending, inevitable fate. But why? Why is it that I’m to do whats expected of me, and not actually what I want to do? Why is it that I have to spend my life working towards something that I won’t even be able to enjoy if I get there? Why is it that at seventeen years of age, I had to make the conscious decision to put my future self into debt, for the majority of my adult life, just to get a piece of paper that says I’m finally ready to join the real world. But even then, the ink on that paper drips with the venom of a lie. No one is ever ready to join the real world. They tell you to chase your dreams, but what they really want you to chase are deadlines. And they tell you follow your......

Is Cheating Wrong

...Is cheating wrong, that is a question I ask myself every day. Many people ask this same question. Some people think this question is too easy to answer. This question has many views. I think this is a great question to ask. I think cheating is wrong because not only are rules being broken but the only person you are cheating is yourself. The best thing to do is do the work put the effort and hard work in and not cheat. The reason you only cheat yourself is because you are the only one that doesn’t know the answer and other people do. This works for sports and school. This works for sports because if for example you use performance enhancing drugs not only are you cheating yourself but rules will be broken and consequences will be taken for this. Also you ruin your credibility as a person, and you could be known as a cheater for this. This could lead to not playing for the team or suspensions and fines. Also punishment can be brought upon you for cheating from the organization that you are playing the sport for. This works for all types of school work. Let’s say that you cheat on all of your homework assignments and get a hundred on all of them. After all the homework has been completed you have a test on what the homework was on. On the day you receive your test you earn a failing grade. This failing grade was earned because you cheated on all the homework assessments and you did not know what the homework was about. So if you cheat you are only cheating yourself. ...

Is Cheating Wrong?

...The act of cheating is considered taboo in society as we know it today. Cheating on school exams, in sports and in relationships are almost always frowned upon, thus, portraying the “cheater” as the bad guy, and his act morally wrong. When it comes to cheating to get ahead in your education, the only person you are hurting is yourself. For example, a student has to write an essay on a specific topic, but because of a full schedule including sports and music lessons, along with poor time management, the student finds himself sitting at the computer the night before the essay is due, completely drawing a blank when it comes to beginning the essay. It is easy to go on the internet, search for the topic and then find several websites dedicated to essays on that topic. The student using another person’s essay as their own will only hurt them in the long run. They may be caught and punished for plagiarizing, as there is a multitude of software available to detect plagiarizing. A teacher gives the assignment to measure the student’s understanding, ability, and comprehension of the actual act of writing the essay. It is with these assignments that the student can learn and perfect good writing habits, a skill that is taken with them into adult life. Cheating in sports has been happening for a very long time. As far back as 1919, cheating was recorded in the baseball World Series; the cheaters then became infamous for their cheating behavior rather than their performance on the......

Universally Wrong

...UNIVERSALLY WRONG Dionne Harris SOC120: Introduction to Ethics & Social Responsibility (ACG1318A) Instructor: David Jung May 13, 2013 The idea of what is moral has been a debated question for many years. With all the different cultures and beliefs in the world, there is no real understanding of what should be considered wrong as a whole. In the article “Some Moral Minima”, Lenn Goodman argues that there are a number of areas that he considers morally wrong for the universe. My belief is that there are areas such as murder, rape, terrorism and physical abuse that are just wrong period; however in certain circumstances those areas may be justified. In the article Goodman states that everyone should be free to live without being subject to inhumane treatment (Goodman 2010). Many cultures hide behind relativism as a justification for committing immoral acts. According to our textbook relativism is “the view that one's beliefs are conditioned by one's culture, society and or community"(Mosser,2010). A person’s background and up bringing shapes the way that individual views morality. Goodman believes murder is wrong because ‘it destroys a human subject (Goodman 2010). I have to agree that Murder is wrong although there are a few ways to justify certain forms of murder. . Regardless of what you believe, no one has the right to maliciously take another person’s life. Goodman goes on to say that war is wrong but it is necessary in order to protect the life of......

Wrong Man

...wrong man THE MAN had no useful work, only vagaries of various kinds. Therefore it surprised him to find himself in Paradise after a life spent perfecting trifles. Now the guide had taken him by mistake to the wrong Paradise-one meant only for good, busy souls. In this Paradise, our man saunters along the road only to obstruct the rush of business. He stands aside from the path and is warned that he tramples on sown seed. Pushed, he starts up: hustled, he moves on. A very busy girl comes to fetch water from the well. Her feet run on the pavement like rapid fingers over harp-strings. Hastily she ties a negligent knot with her hair, and loose locks on her forehead pry into the dark of her eyes. The man says to her, ‘Would you lend me your pitcher?’ ‘My pitcher?’ she asks, ‘to draw water?’ ‘No, to paint patterns on.’ I have no time to waste,’ the girl retorts in contempt. Now a busy soul has no chance against one who is supremely idle. Every day she meets him at the well, and every day he repeats the same request, till at last she yields. Our man paints the pitcher with curious colours in a mysterious maze of lines. The girl takes it up, turns it round and asks, ‘What does it mean?’ ‘It has no meaning,’ he answers. The girl carries the pitcher home. She holds it up in different lights and tries to con its mystery. At night she leaves her bed, lights a lamp, and gazes at it from all points of view. This is the first time she has met with something......

Is Cheating Wrong

...Is cheating wrong? Why yes it is, and it’s something that shouldn’t be done. Cheating can take on many forms whether it’s cheating in school or in a relationship. It says a lot about a person and whether you can trust them or not. It strips away your dignity and your sense of self accomplishment. The consequences or the price you pay can not only affect you but can have a lasting effect on someone around you. When I was in high school, math was a great challenge for me, for whatever reason I had to study all the time just to make a decent grade on a test or homework. It was very discouraging when we would take a test and someone sitting next to me, would ask me what the answers were to half the test questions. It would make me so mad. I missed out on having fun with my friends and going to do things just to make a somewhat decent grade and you want to rely on me to coast you through? You have to put the work in. You’re not always going to have someone around to get you through the tough times. Did they really earn their diploma or did you earn it for them? Even in college the same thing happens. If you’re going to school to become a doctor and you happened to be mine after it’s all said and done, I want to know I can trust you to treat me accordingly, after all my life may depend on it. I love the feeling of accomplishment when I work really hard at something and it pays off. A cheater can never really feel that. Relationship cheating can also be very devastating...

Bad and Wrong Decisions

...Is There a Difference Between Wrong Decisions and Bad Decisions? Even the best leaders aren’t perfect decision-makers, it’s true that a wrong decision is different from a bad decision. A wrong decision is your best guess when you have no way of knowing. A bad decision is the wrong call with the facts staring you in the face. Bad decisions are unforced errors. Why Do Good Managers Make Wrong/Bad Decisions? Managers tend to rely on past experience that seems useful, but is actually sometimes dangerous. A second reason has to do with self-interest. Most people don't realize self-interest operates at a subconscious level. We're not even aware of how self-interested we are. Also we call prejudgments. Good Managers make prejudgments about their businesses that sometimes turn out to be wrong. The fourth reason one is what we call attachments - attachments to people or places or things. Another reason is some good managers lack clarity of purpose. A lot of managers also don’t see the opportunity that is in front of them. Also some managers don’t trust themselves in the decisions they are making. How Can Managers Improve Their Decision-Making Skills? Here is a list of ten ways of how a manager can improve: 1. Cost-Benefit Analysis 2. Narrow Your Options 3. Evaluate the Significance 4. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff 5. Do Your Research 6. Get a Well-Informed Opinion 7. Practice Conflict Management 8. Plan Ahead 9. Take Charge 10. Don’t Dwell on Mistakes....

The Wrong Decision for the Right Reason

...The Wrong Decision for the Right Reason I sat there thinking it was a joke. No way could my parents do this to me. How could they abandon me like this? This was definitely not happening. My parents were kicking me out. Yes I probably made the wrong decision by being disrespectful but it was to stick up for my mom which was for the right reason. Before I go any further in this story let me explain my brother’s condition. My little brother, Colt, was diagnosed with mental retardation. He was really far behind in school and his social skills were horrible. My mom knew something was wrong and fought to figure out what was wrong since the day he was born and to see what she could do to make it better. My dad was and still is in denial. My mom decided to quit her job to try to help my brother catch up and live the most “normal” life possible. I’m very protective over my brother. Anyone is protective over their siblings but when you find out they have something wrong, like mental retardation, you’re even more protective. I would tolerate anyone bulling my brother or ridiculing my mother’s decisions about my brother. We were eating lunch at Applebee’s. It was my mom, my dad, my dad’s two friends (Brian and Danny), and me. We were all talking and having a good time. Although I didn’t really care for Brian and Danny I could tolerate them. Also keep in mind my dad, Brian, and Danny are all police officers, which means they seem to think being rude is hilarious. Danny and Brian......

Abortion Is Wrong

... Babies Lives Matter Kristen Trussell Medtech College Instructor Bouzouma EN140 25 January 2016   Abortion has become a highly discussed topic in our country from people believing its right and others believing its wrong. Annually, an estimated 43.8 million babies die from abortion worldwide (World Health Organization/Guttmacher Institute, published 2012). That is approximately one baby being aborted every two seconds In many states, abortion has been banned after 16 weeks of pregnancy and many doctors will not perform an abortion unless of a medical reason. Some small clinics such as Planned Parenthood will perform these abortions. When going to these clinics there are pro-life and pro-choice groups usually standing out front with signs. Pro-life groups favor greater restrictions on abortion. They argue that a fetus is a human being with the right to live, so abortion is murder. Pro-choice groups argue that a woman has certain reproductive rights especially the right to choose whether to carry a fetus or not. My own is that I think if there is nothing wrong with the fetus when the woman goes to her ultrasound appointments and nothing shows up and there’s no medical problems with the woman then she should keep it. One of the most common reasons a woman chooses to abort is because they want to delay a pregnancy because they are too young. However, in some cases a woman becomes pregnant from being rapped and decides to abort the baby. They do not want to live with the......
