Stressful Days

What do you do when you’re stressed? If I’m starting to feel overwhelmed or as if I can’t handle all of the pressure that I’ve been dealt with, then I tend to either vent to my friends or family, listen to music, or I avoid or alter out unnecessary stress. Everyone has different ways that they cope with stress and these ways I find help myself the most. I cope with being stressed by venting to my friends and family due to the fact that they can add their input and help guide me in the right direction to my happiness again. If it’s self-inflicted stress, then they can help me get out of that with constructive words of criticism which if I’m stressed, is typically needed. I find that my family and friends almost always know what to says. Also, I like venting to my friends because they have a way of comforting me that sometimes my family cannot. They know what makes me calm down, and what also makes me smile and happy again. If my friends and family are knowing that I’m stressed they know very well how to not make me feel alone, because sometimes that’s all you want is someone to be there for you. It’s also not healthy to keep things bottled up inside for too long, and the people closest to us are what help us get by when we are in times of need. Another way that I find helpful when I’m stressed is to just find a place to seclude myself, such as my car, or my room, and just surround myself with music. I like listening to music when I’m stressed due to the fact that more times that not, the music can often relate to your situation. I enjoy listening to music while I’m exercising to motivate me, and I also enjoy listening to music when I’m just laying in bed about to drift asleep. I also truly enjoy listening to music because it’s something I love- I honestly don’t know if I could go a day without listening to music. I find that listening to music is a not a luxury either, its a necessity to help with my stress. There are so many different genres out there as well, depending on what you prefer listening to, or what is relating to your particular situation. Also it was scientifically proven in the PubMed Central experiment indicating that listening to music impacted the psychobiological stress system, meaning that music actually does have an impact on the human body, and a positive one at that. Lastly, I found that the most useful way for me to cope with my stress is to avoid unnecessary stress or alter the situation. If I find that I’m getting overly worked up about a situation then I look to see if it’s a specific person, and if so, then I remove them from the situation and for the time being. If they’re persistent with stressing me out, then I will completely remove them from my life; I truly believe no one deserves negative people in their life. If I can’t avoid a stressful situation, I’ll try to alter it, such as trying to manage my time better. That’ll require me to be able to my assignments, maintain a social life, keep on work, and also try to squeeze in enough hours of sleep. It’s better to plan ahead and don’t do anything you know you don’t have time for, that’ll add more stress. Don’t take a backseat on your own life, deal with your problems as they occur and don’t bottle up your emotions.…...

Day Trippin Song Writing

..."The Easy Way Out" by Emma Schwartz “Day Tripper,” was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Lennon sings the lyrics exquisitely. The vocals was sung by Lennon and McCartney. However, Lennon had the original idea for the melody after using LSD for the first time and work together with McCartney to finish it. I, for the most part, like the jingle because I think it has a catchy tune and an upbeat melody. This song gives me a feeling of buoyancy, like a trip or floating. Acid was beginning to play an active role in their music and they began to sing about the experience. Day Tripper is a jargon term for somebody who failed to entirely embrace the hippy existence, for the Beatles they involved the life but kept it concealed and only showed the well turned-out image side of themselves. This part of the song reminds me of a life filled with stress and drama. Stresses of being isolated because of the Beatle-mania fever with fans. Problems that they needed an outlet for, but yet you know they are tripping on the drugs to escape their stressful mayhem in life, they are justifying their actions. Although they see themselves as round-the-clock trippers, “fully committed drivers, she was just a day tripper.” they was someone who was committed only in part to the idea, the drugs took them on the trip to release themselves. Everyone has their own concerns in life, they want to escape from the real world, so I believe individuals relate to these lyrics. “Got a good reason, for......

Day to Day Effects

...Extra Credit 1 Every day, every minute, in fact every second, we are interacting and building connections with everything we see and do. For this assignment, I want to focus on my encounter with Starbucks staff. I probably am one of the biggest Starbucks fanatic anyone will every encounter. I love the thrill of going to Starbucks, and anticipating and thinking about what my new Starbucks concoction will be. Reflecting upon my Starbucks experiences, I have come to a conclusion of whether we know it or not, our unintended communications turn into a relationships that we fail to see. To test my thinking and prove it valid, I went to the Starbucks that I have been going to for years now. Here goes my thoughts, “What do I order? What am I feeling today? What is the new drink that came out?”. As I walked in, I examined the same feeling of thrill and excitement that rushes upon me. As I wait in the long, almost endless lines at Starbucks, I especially examine other people’s orders and get inspired for my order. As the line lessens, I am finally able to reach upon my decision of my order. Instantly, the woman taking my order my order found me quit familiar and said, “hello, how’s your day today? Would you like chai latte or caramel macchiato?” and I found it surprising on how she knew exactly what I want. Reflecting upon the situation, I realize how going to Starbucks often, I run into the same people, the same staff and essentially built a relationship that we don’t realize.......

Groundhog Day

...The movie Groundhog Day, is labeled as a comedy, but in fact it is a story about love, a story about Phil’s transformation based on love.  Phil his character is forced to repeat the same day over and over again. He goes through many phases in this movie and in the end changing his persona. When analyzing love, it becomes apparent that much has been written about it. In fact, love has been broken down into different phases such as Eros, Philia and Agape. Being trapped in Groundhog Day has significant effects on Phil’s practices of these three kinds of love Eros, Philia and Agape. One significant effect on Phil being trapped in Groundhog Day is his practice of Eros. According to the article, “Conceptions of Love”, Eros love can be divided into two definitions. One part of Eros is the “physical” attraction and the sensual desire towards someone. The other part of Eros states that with contemplation it can become a more romantic emotion and even appreciation of beauty itself. In terms of Eros being about physical attraction and desire, being trapped makes Phil’s practice of Eros exploitative. As seen in the movie, Groundhog Day, Phil abuses his entrapment to control the women he desires. He exploits people ruthlessly with no regard of their feelings. Phil seeks only the physical, sexual attraction and his only goal is to satisfy his pleasure. For example, when he picks up this woman in the dinner, named Nancy, he says he loves her and sweet talks her into having sex because he...

A Day of Nothing and a Day of Activity

...A Day of Nothing and a Day of Activity From what I can recall, I did nothing of particular interest on February 8, so I shall elect to skip talking about it. To make up for the lack, I shall write an excruciatingly long entry for today. As is typical of an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai, I awoke only to begin my journey over to my Japanese class. In class, we played 'Who's Pen Is This?' in order to practice our previously learned grammar lesson. Next, we planned a pretend trip in order to practice another grammar lesson. Finally, we learned a new grammar point before departing. My next activity was to wait 40 minutes so that I could meat Saki and Chiaki again for lunch. This time, I brought my laptop along so that I could share photographs from back home. While waiting, I was joined by Wayne, a Chinese student who I had previously met, and Keisuke. At first, Keisuke swore that Wayne was a Japanese person, but after some effort to convince him otherwise, he believed that he was not. Come 11:30, I took my leave from the boys to join the girls in the cafeteria. Since it was rainy and drab awful outside today, Saki and Chiaki were waiting inside the cafeteria instead of the outside area where they usually wait. After getting food, we ate and talked some. Once finishing, we made our way to the CIE lounge so I could plug in my laptop and begin the show. A wise move plugging it in, I might add, as the presentation lasted about four hours. I began by showing pictures of my......

Freshmen Day

...How would you describe your experience in freshmen day? Last day we the first year students have a special day which is the freshmen day, and for me it was fun and exciting. It is composed of nstp students in Monday class to Saturday and I belong to the Thursday group. I say that the day which is the freshmen day is fun because of the happenings that we encounter, like the beat boxers or the one who uses their voices to create mixed sounds and it was so fun to hear. The excitements are not just the beat boxers it is also the one marine engineering student who impersonates the voices of some well-known personalities and cartoon characters, it was very entertaining because he does not just copy their voices; he gives the crowd the perfect voices of them. The other things that I encounter are the different kinds of singer because when ceremony doesn’t have singing it is quite boring. I say different kinds of singer because the singers have different ways and on how the way they sing their song and on how they act in the song, some singer’s songs rock music, having a partner to blend the song and the solo singer. I also encounter one singer that impersonates also a known character in an animated movie and I think that the crowd enjoys her singing and she is the only one who have “standing ovation”. Also, the freshmen day is not complete when it doesn’t have parlor games. It is also enjoy but not all of us managed to join because of every group from Monday to Saturday have......

Day-to-Day Stress

...Day-to-Day Stress Omar R. Hameen GEN/200 May 17, 2011 Barbara Alston Day-to-Day Stress In the following paper I would like to talk about a problem that causes stress my daily life. I will describe how to gather information to help me solve this problem and where the information can be obtained. In this paper I will talk about my experiences and how I deal various forms of stressors at home and in social settings. Daily stress Stress is a term used by many, is severly misunderstood, and often used to describe a negative condition or emotional state. It is our biological way of dealing with sudden changes in our life. The biggest stressor for me is fatigue.   Most days, my morning starts around 10 a.m.   By 11 a.m., I’m hurrying to the store to grab an energy drink then back home to work on school assignments and apply for jobs online.   At 12 a.m. I start my “work day”, which typically requires cleaning, preparing my daughter for school, and taking care of any outside work that needs to be done.   I usually find myself leaving home at 5 p.m. and heading to pick up my daughter from daycare.   Whether we go to the park, play some type of sports in the yard, or go on a bike ride; I spend the next 3 hours running around behind my 4 year old daughter, using my last bit of stored energy. When our playtime is done we head inside to do her school work and other learning activities.   Spending family time is important, so usually its dinner and a movie until...

That Day

...Life Changing Experiences By: Olivia Son Growing up in the country you could always find me outside playing with my friends or relatives. We would literally go outside the moment we woke up and would not come back inside until bedtime. Between riding four-wheelers, jumping on trampolines, and having mud fights you never knew what we might me getting into that day. I had my share of bumps and bruises along the way but I would not have changed a single minute of it. We all grow up thinking that we are invincible until something happens in your life that changes all that. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. It was a hot summer day just like any other and I was your typical fourteen-year-old girl who wanted to spend all her free time hanging out with her boyfriend. This day was no different. I woke up that morning and of course could not wait to spend time with him. Therefore, I rushed through breakfast and did everything that my mom had asked me to do before he was allowed to come over. Finally, he was at my house and we were deciding what we might get into. It was so hot outside so we decided that we would go swimming and ride my four-wheeler. We figured we would going four-wheeler riding first that way if we got dirty we could just jump into the pool when we got back and wash off. So we changed into our swim suits and headed out. Looking back wearing only a swim suit and flip flops to go riding might not of been the best idea but it was something......

Stressors on Top of an Already Stressful Disease

...prognosis. The trauma of hair pulling also increases the risk for scalp infection. Sometimes repetitive hair pulling can cause problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, and neck/back strain. Perhaps the most common serious medical complication of trichotillomania is avoiding medical care for other illnesses because of the shame associated with hair pulling and the fear of its discovery (http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C609743.html). More about my client My client lives with her boyfriend and twenty-five year old daughter, and has a stressor on top of her hair pulling. Her boyfriend is an alcoholic and a drug addict and states he party’s every night and consumes at least two three drinks during the week if it’s not every day it’s every other day. The client states that the boyfriend is a major stressor but she loves him, and states that he helps her with the bills. Client states her first sign of this disease started in childhood though when she started picking the skin around her nails and leave the skin bare or as they say “mother-in-law” if you are familiar with the term, it’s the skin around the cuticle. Well she would go beyond the cuticle sometimes. But as we were speaking the client’s boyfriend and daughter was a great stressor to her not only did they give her stress but I would personally classify this relationship of client and boyfriend as unhealthy and abusive. The client wasn’t really getting into her boyfriend’s alcohol problem she was to......

Good Day vs Bad Day

...GS1145 Bendall Short Answer 5.1 Good Day vs Bad Day Breckinridge School of Nursing Barbara Walker Abstract Anyone working as a nursing assistant has chosen a very challenging path. Poor compensation, workplace politics, short staffing, conflict between coworkers, irate and difficult residents, miscommunication, heavy lifting and the loss of those for whom we care all make for a tough work environment. I definitely have locked myself in the linen closet to get myself together moments. So, why do I keep coming back? Why do I stay? First of all, I embrace the challenge. I thrive on it. In my life, it is a rare and beautiful thing to be able to bring order to chaos rather than the other way around. I work at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital and I have to say, the patients inspire me every day. We have a variety of patients; with cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, dementia, brain and spinal cord injuries and just knee or hip replacements that still laugh and love and find joy in nothing short of amazing. It’s such an incredible gift to be a part of their lives…to walk them through the tough days and celebrate with them during their triumphs. They have shown me the uselessness of the word impossible. They all touch my heart, and I hope I touch their heart too. Good Day vs Bad Day I have to say that I’m proud of the work that I do. Nursing assistants come in all shapes and sizes. We are both male and female. Our Physical appearances are different...
