Junkets offer complimentary air fare and lodging and entertainment at RRC for customers known to wager large sums. The entertainment division consists of restaurants, lounges, catering, and shows. It books lounge shows and top-name entertainment in the theater. Although many of those people attending the shows and eating in the restaurants stay at RRC, customers staying at other hotels and casinos in the area also frequent RRC’s shows, restaurants, and gaming operations. Tqm - Interesting Info I Found on the Net

...to the fore. There is a missionary zeal in implementing TQM and getting ISO 9000 certification. Competitive environment demands a better quality of product or service at lower rates. Only those organizations which manage productivity and quality on a continuous basis are in a position to compete in increasingly competitive global marketplace. The impact of poor quality on any organisation leads to: (i) low customer satisfaction and low market share; (ii) low productivity, revenue and profit; (iii) low morale of workforce; (iv) more rework, material and labour costs; (v) poor quality of goods and services; (vi) high inspection cost; (vii) high process bottlenecks and delay in product shipment; (viii) higher work-in-progress inventory; (ix) high analysis and repair costs; and (x) high material wastage and scarp. Quality is a customer’s determination and is certainly not a manufacturer’s determination. The modern view of quality is that products should totally satisfy the customer’s needs and expectations on a continuous basis. This new concept of quality calls for : (i) well designed products with functional perfection – right the first time (ii) prompt satisfaction of customer’s expectations, (iii) excellence in service4 and (iv) absolute empathy with customers. 1.2 HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT The development of quality activities has spanned over the entire twentieth century. Curiously, significant changes in the approach to quality activities have taken place......

...have more robust legal protections of their interests—legal protections motivated apart from human interest in the enjoyment of wild animals as “property”. So far the death toll with respect to wildlife does not have shockingly high numbers, As of June 25, there had been 1,539 dead animals found in the spill zone including 1074 dead birds, 417 sea turtles, and 48 dolphins and other mammals—but these numbers likely do not even come close to reflecting the actual number of deaths. As NWF senior scientist Dr. Doug Inkley explains, these numbers tell only part of the story as the effect of the oil on marine life remains hidden beneath the massive plumes of oil that are hundreds of feet deep, making it impossible to capture the full scope of the spill’s impact. “We know we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg with those that have been washed up onshore and tested.” Of course the timing also couldn’t have been much worse as now is the time of year when most nesting occurs: "Right now is nesting season for brown pelicans, roseate spoonbills and a host of other birds," said Inkley. "Knowing that it only takes a drop or two of oil to kill the developing chick in an egg, I could not help but feel a great sense of loss…It is going to take years, maybe decades for the fish and wildlife in this region to recover." "Words like 'tragedy' and 'disaster' do not do justice to what is happening”, he added. Clearly it couldn’t be more urgent that we......

When I Grow Up: an Analytical Study of the Interpretations of Children on Pop Culture Elements Found in Selected Tv Commercials

...When I Grow Up: An Analytical Study of the Interpretations of Children on Pop Culture Elements found in Selected TV Commercials “TV takes our children across the globe before parents give them permission to cross the streets.” - Joshua Meyrowitz BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Advertising is a form of mass communication strategy created to promote the purchase of a certain product, message, or service in the market. It carries the messages that come to you from the people who pay for the media (Biagi, 2001, p. 227). It is also an act of popularizing something through mass media to attract the attention of the consumers, audiences, or mainly the public for higher sales and marketability. Tracing through the history, evidences of advertising is said to have started thousands of years before when people started trading things for survival. Thus, the rise of technology, industrialization, and capitalism triggered the success of advertising in the heightening state of competition worldwide and in every aspect; from commodities, to people and politics. The industrial revolution, according to some historians, is the root of commercial advertising (Campbell, 2002, p. 387). Because of the continuous occurrence of new products in the market and there is a need to sell them off instantly, businessmen tried the concept of large scale advertising to sell more. Over the time, manufacturers realized that if their products were distinctive and became associated with quality,......

Steps in Being Found in Search Engines on the Internet

...10 Steps to Being Found on Search Engines Does your organization show up on the first page of results in search engines like Google or Yahoo? The content and structure of your website can have a dramatic effect on how easily potential constituents can find you via search engines. This article explains how.  Let's do an experiment. Go to Google and type in the most commonly used version of your organization's name. Do you show up first in the resulting list of sites? What if you type in a short phrase describing the type of work you'd like to be known for? Do you show up in the top page of those search results, too? Your placement on search engines like Google or Yahoo Search is important. At a minimum, it should be easy for your current constituents to find your site using your organization's name. Showing up on the first page of search results for key terms — for instance, something like "Cincinnati women's shelter," if that describes your organization — can also make a huge difference in your site traffic, not to mention in potential donors, volunteers, and clients' ability to find and connect with you. You don't have complete control over where and how your Web site shows up in search engines, but you have more power than you might think. The process of site tweaking and outreach that's used to enhance your search engine placement is called search engine optimization (or SEO for short). While SEO is often described in ways that make it seem like a mystical art form, in......

...divided into three basic components: a sender, a channel, and a receiver. The sender will initiate the communication process by developing an idea into a message. This is also known as encoding. The sender will then transmit the message through a channel, or a method of delivery; think of things like e-mail, phone conversations, instant messages, face-to-face discussion, or even a text message. The message then moves through the channel to the receiver, who completes the communication process by interpreting and assigning meaning to the message, which is also known as decoding. Now, since most communication exchanges involve a continued dialogue between senders and receivers, afeedback loop was added to the communication process. Although I know some of you wish your spouse would forget about this at times, the feedback loop is a critical component in the communication process because it ensures a message was properly received and interpreted by the other party. In the workplace, feedback is especially significant so that a manager can be certain the messages that he or she sends are, in fact, received and interpreted correctly, eliciting the appropriate action from subordinates. Can You Hear Me Now? ORGANISATIONAL COMMUNICATION Organizational communication, or the sharing of organizational information, remains a vital and critical tool when trying to create and maintain a competitive advantage. Without organizational communication, it would be extremely difficult to......

...this growing trend is sort, the Deloitte 2007 Global Security Survey of top global financial services institutions states the following and I quote “Information security is no longer a technology-focused problem. It has become the basis for business survival as much as any other issue”. The survey also found that 81% of respondents, many more than in studies of previous years, feel that the issue of security has risen to the level of the C-suite or board as an issue of critical concern. Information Security Governance is a framework predicated on principles and accountability requirements that encourage desirable behavior in the application and use of technology. Results from the present study indicate 81% of respondents have a defined information security governance structure (e.g., defined responsibilities, policies, and procedures) while 18% are in the process of establishing one [Deloitte 2007]. The evolution of technology has had its impact on virtually every business or private aspect of our lives. From privacy to liability issues, the impact of technology on business is only limited to imagination. Unauthorized access to paper documents or phone conversations is still an information security concern, but the real challenge has become protecting the security of computer networks, especially when they are connected to the Internet. Most large organizations have their own local computer network, or intranet, that links their computers together to share......

The result will be new ways of making decisions, backed by the availability of information. The option of being online and traceable at all times has also led to the emergence of a new generation of consumers, who demand new products and services based on ubiquity and interconnection. These shifts in production and consumption patterns are changing the relations between all the agents in the system. There is a whole host of new opportunities to design and offer new products and services and make more efficient use of existing assets, creating a fertile ground for entrepreneurs. The dynamic of change of the technologies involved in the Internet of Everything is particularly interesting. In many fields, successful new solutions will turn their backs on traditional models of evolution, based on standards set out by large corporations or supranational bodies. Instead, they will consist of “cheap hacks” promoted by entrepreneurs who are capable of identifying efficient problem-solving alternatives and distributing them efficiently thanks to permanent and ubiquitous connectivity, enabling......
