I would love the chance to spend one hour shadowing a person in my dream job. My dream job is to become a dental hygienist. I know it is a lengthy, competitive process, but rewarding. If I had the opportunity to shadow a dental hygienist, I would attempt to retain and learn all the information possible. I would not show up unprepared. Before hand, I would call the office and schedule the shadowing hour. I would also point out that I would love to be able to shadow the dental hygienist for the most part, but also would like to shadow the dentist. They are similar fields and it is never a bad idea to explore other areas of dentistry. I would have a bag ready with any useful items I could use. I would have a notebook with a couple pens to take notes with. I would dress myself in a presentable matter because it is an office. I would show up 10 to 15 minutes early to show that I am serious about shadowing and ready to learn what I can. The first question I would ask the dental hygienist is for what reasons do they love their job? Most people would not want to be in a career they will be doing the rest of their lives where the only reason they like it is because of the money. I would love to hear the reasons he/she has for choosing dental hygiene as a profession.
The second question I would ask is how challenging was dental hygiene school? I know college will not be easy, but being able to hear from someone who has gone through it would remind me that I need to be serious about dental hygiene and be able to…...

Personal Essay

...Personal Essay: Twenty and Serious I was 19, and it was my first week on the job as marketing director for a leading financial services organization in North America. Our awkward exchange was one of many I've experienced as a young woman in a big job. People expect a much older-looking person, not a girl who could pass for a college sorority sister, to be speaking to them about life insurance or finance. I guess I have always looked young for my age. When I was a freshman at a community college, people mistook me for 16. Now that I am almost 21, bouncers still eyed my ID suspiciously checking for validity even at an 18 or older event. Looking younger than your years is a bonus when you're over 40 (or so I hear) but a bummer when you're a 20 year old kid like me, especially a kid who landed a dream job and is trying to command some respect. Before I started my career, being mistaken for someone younger was no big deal. But during my first job as a Marketing Director, I quickly realized that looking "too young" could be a curse for me at work, one that would keep fueling my insecurities even when I landed a position of authority. In my first marketing director job, I had an encounter that scarred me for years. An older woman I was meeting with about our finance services looked me up and down and squealed with amusement: "Well, don't you look all of 12?" Her voice dripped with snobbery. It was hard enough being the lowest person on the totem pole in the office, but having my...

...There are some teachers who are going to require you to write a 250 word essay. Actually, it is a very short essay for that matter but for some students, it may also be a burden to have a word limit in writing. Let us take a look at the scenarios that you need to understand to compose a well developed essay. For some students, it may be limiting to have a word factor quota in writing an article. There are some individuals who can tell more out of a topic and that having 250 words will not suffice to tell everything in their minds. That is why you need to have the skills in budgeting the words that you have to write without sacrificing the ideas that you have to deliver. There are different essay types that you also need to consider so having a word limit cannot simply be an easy task. Still for some students, a 250 word essay may mean too much because there are also some people who do not want to waste their time writing. No matter what the essay structure may be, these types of people are not really eager to translate their thoughts to written form so they think 250 words simply equates to too much work. Anyway, you need to understand that having this kind of limit will eventually benefit the students as they improve their discipline, being responsible and being resourceful individuals. ...An essay is usually a short piece of writing. It is often written from an author's personal point of view. Essays can be literary criticism, political manifestos, learned arguments, observations of daily life, recollections, and reflections of the author. The definition of an essay is vague, overlapping with those of an article and a short story. Almost all modern essays are written in prose, but works in verse have been dubbed essays (e.g. Alexander Pope's An Essay on Criticism and An Essay on Man). While brevity usually defines an essay, voluminous works like John Locke's An Essay Concerning Human Understanding and Thomas Malthus's An Essay on the Principle of Population provide counterexamples. It is very difficult to define the genre into which essays fall. Aldous Huxley, a leading essayist, gives guidance on the subject: Like the novel, the essay is a literary Abstract This article will examine the reasons why it is important both linguistically and psychologically to build a vocabulary quickly when learning a foreign language. The article asserts that very little can be achieved or learned in a foreign language with a small vocabulary and that by building a sizable vocabulary quite quickly one can soon be able to function adequately. Job Shadowing

... Job Shadow Student Reflection Essay Job Shadow Experience Essay For my job shadow I chose my orthodontist Dr. Barinaga because he is the person that would give me good hands on experience on the path to becoming an orthodontist. The job shadow site was very clean with a friendly atmosphere looked like I was in a house. Dr. Barinaga is people person he is very kind hearted and is friendly to all his patients he is a hard worker always adjusting the braces for all his patients that come in, and also filling out a lot of paperwork for his patients, he also helps out around the work site to see if any of his assistants need help. What I liked most about job shadowing Dr. Barinaga was that I got the opportunity to see how he puts braces on a patient’s teeth and also how he removes. the braces. I also got the chance to be in the lab room where they create molded teeth models of their patients and use the models and this machine that heats up a plastic disk then they put it over the teeth model to create plastic retainers for their patients. During the job shadow I didn’t find to dislike anything about the experience, it was great learning experience for me I really appreciate Dr. Barinaga for giving me the chance to observe and job shadow him in action this gave a lot of knowledge of what to expect when becoming an orthodontist in the future. What surprised me the most while job shadowing Dr. Barinaga was that all his assistants were women, but they are all really nice and......

Job Shadowing the Career of an Accountant

...Job Shadowing the Career of an Accountant Emily A. Youngblood Northwood Inc. Abstract This paper was written in accordance of a job shadow I recently conducted at Northwood Inc., of an accountant manager named Denise Nass. Questions that are asked include why I am interested in this career, my previous knowledge, what I learned, the positive and negatives of this career, and my strengths and weaknesses. I’m interested in this career because of the creativity, “number-crunching”, and the environment. From previous accounting classes I know that accountants produce financial statements, budgets, and control inventories. I went to Northwood for a day and observed the actions of Denise and the other accountants in the department. I found that accountant involves many management aspects such as strategic planning and problem solving. I realized that accountant managers receive great pay, benefits, and work in a focused environment. On the other hand, it was very obvious that accounting can be quite boring and difficult to deal with individuals who are very different from yourself. My strengths include being very organized, have patience, can deal with different personalities, and have great problem solving skills. The only weakness I can see associated with this career is how easily I get stressed out. JOB SHADOWING THE CAREER OF AN ACCOUNTANT Since I was in high school, I always knew that when I was older I wanted to become an accountant. I was never really sure what......
