SELF-IMPROVEMENT

I believe that the most valuable concepts to influence my personal developmental plan are adaption innovation (AI) theory and team roles. I learned from the electronic cognitive preference estimator that I am moderately adaptive on the continuum. I prefer more structure being moderately adaptive compared to someone who is an innovator. It is important to know where I am on the continuum and to understand my preferred approach to problem solving. I learned that from the electronic assessment that I am an executor for team roles and pride myself on the ability of completing objectives professionally.
Effective leaders that understand and who can manage this diversity should end up with the best possible solution for Problem A if they can keep their team away from Problem B. For example, if I am aware of my preferred style and where others on my team fall on the continuum, I should be able to effectively manage conflict and obtain optimal performance out of everyone. It is also just as important to understand and see how others view me in relation to where we all fall on the continuum. For example, the further two people are on the continuum the greater the chance may be for conflict to arise, but also chance for greater diversity.
I found the discussion of Problem A versus Problem B to be very interesting. Problem A is the task or problem that needs to be solved. Problem B can occur when two or more people are present to solve Problem A. Problem B is the conflict that gets everyone’s focus off of the common objective which is to solve Problem A. When teams are allowed to become completely consumed with Problem B then Problem A will never be solved. I plan on applying the AI theory concepts to ensure my future problem solving teams are able to identify and overcome Problem B, thus guiding my team to remain focused…...
