...Coleman, was recorded September 9th, 1971. Coleman’s album Science Fiction consisted of a variety of songs that were very different, that included Civilization Day. Some important elements of what we’ve learned were evident in this song. The musicians combined collective improvisation with solo improvisation. He referred to this improvisational concept as harmolodics, a shortened form of the words harmony, melody, and motion. The alto sax, trumpet, and non-walking bass were used to create this piece in different parts of the song. Coleman has been criticized for playing out of tune, but this is one other way for Coleman to “play outside” which was what he aimed to do. The photo I chose to associate with Coleman’s song is one that represents chaos, crowd, and conjunction. It is a photograph that was taken on May Day in NYC in 2010. Thousands of workers and immigrant laborers took to the streets to celebrate May Day, demanding rights for those “who toil in the sun”. The message in Manhattan was delivered with bullhorns and drums. Their voices and fight were echoed by millions of workers around the world, from Havana to Berlin and Istanbul. The issues were the same: more jobs, better working conditions, higher wages and decent health care. In the photo, we can see an extremely crowded NYC street. There are so many people harboring the streets that it looks as thought there is no space to move. Similar to the photo, the music has beats and rhythms that crowd one another......

...Classical Indian Music It is undeniable that the music of a people is embedded in their culture and traditions, and so is the Indian classical music. The tones and sounds of the Indian music bear influence from the Hindu religion and their culture. Instrumentation and notation has been quite unique unlike the Western music. Ravi Shankar is among Indian musicians who have revolutionalized the classical Indian music and has won three Grammy Wards. Although Shankar interacted with other artists from other cultures, his music reflects on the Indian musical traditions. The classical Indian music is reputed style of music which even today espouses the aesthetics of the ancient times despite having had influence from other genres of music (Massey & Massey, 1996). The classical music of India is categorized into two; the Hindustani music which is from Northern Indian region and Carnatic music from Southern India. Massey and Massey (1996) argue that a common similarity of the two genres is that they employ one raga per song and the music has heavy improvisation element. Raga is what may be compared to mode or scale in Western music. The difference is evident because Hindustani music has the heavy influence of Persian music as opposed to Carnatic music and vocalist element is emphasized in Carnatic music than in Hindustani music. The Indian music is characteristic of tala which is considered as rhythmic pattern enhanced by drums called the tabla and the accompaniment the stringed......

...The word 'science' is derived from the Latin word 'scientia' which means knowledge. Therefore, science is about gaining knowledge either through observing, studying, experience, or practice. Entire knowledge acquired through science is about discovering truths, finding facts, uncovering phenomenon hidden by the nature. Observations and experimentation, in science, support in describing truth and realities through systematic processes and procedures. For me, science is an intellectual set of activities designed to uncover information about anything related to this world in which we live. The information gathered is organized through scientific methods to form eloquent patterns. In my opinion the primary objective of science is to gather information and to distinguish the order found between facts. What Science Means to Me as an Upcoming Scientist Science exposes several ideas along with significant themes so that I could test them independently and without any bias to arrive at solid conclusion. For this purpose exchange of data and materials is necessary. I am able to generate real and tangible facts supported by reliable evidence. Work of scientist is based on theoretical science. It means, in theoretical science, there is only a sign, just a hint on which discoveries could be made, facts could be found. While studying science I am always working for determining truth, based on my perceptions, judgment, observation, experience, and knowledge collected through several means...

...Paper #1: Music World History 4th period Music has been around since the Paleolithic age and has evolved through the years, entertaining almost every person alive. Like said in the thesis statement, music has been around since the Paleolithic age, as time went on music evolved. There are many different variations of music. The variations tend to revolutionize throughout the ages. The different genres of music consist of pop, rock and roll, hip hop, rap, jazz, and many more. Everyone’s taste in music is different, it could depend on their personality or their mood. Music can be used in so many different ways. It is amazing how music is a part of everyone’s life, even though they may not know. I consider music to be the anchor for all entertainment. Music can be played by many different instruments. It can be played by almost anything from pens, guitars, drums, electronic devices, and basically almost every item in the world. Like I said in the previous paragraph; I consider music to be the anchor for all entertainment. I say this because music itself is entertaining just listening too, but music also gives “spice” to things. It’s like a cherry on top of an ice cream sandwich, just think of a movie without music. I don’t think that is even possible for someone to make a movie without music. The first black and white motion pictures were actually just music and well, moving pictures. I think that music helps many people, it can be used as a stress relieve. Music can......

People will soon be asking you to teach them new skills and vice versa. This can be in any field: gymnastics or sports in general, art, music, trivia, computer programming—you name it. ...THE HISTORY OF MUSIC The Middle Ages 450-1450 Characteristics of Music Music comes from the Ancient Greek muses, who were the nine goddesses of art and science. Music actually began around 500 B.C. when Pythagoras experimented with acoustics and how math related to tones formed from plucking strings. The main form of music during the Middle Ages was the Gregorian chant, named for Pope Gregory I. This music was used in the Catholic Churches to enhance the services. It consisted of a sacred Latin text sung by monks without instrumentation. The chant is sung in a monophonic texture, which means there is only one line of music. It has a free-flowing rhythm with little or no set beat. The chants were originally all passed through oral tradition, but the chants became so numerous that the monks began to notate them. Music in Society Towards the end of the Middle Ages, about the 12th and 13th centuries, music began to move outside of the church. French nobles called troubadours and trouveres were among the first to have written secular songs. Music of this time was contained among the nobility, with court minstrels performing for them. There were also wandering minstrels who would perform music and acrobatics in castles, taverns, and town squares. These people were among the lowest social class, along with prostitutes and slaves, but they were important because they passed along information, since there were no newspapers. Links to......
