1. The common safety issues related to food purchase, storage, and preparation.

The common health problem is food borne illness known as food poisoning. Food borne illness every year gets one out of six Americans sick by eating or drinking contaminated foods. When purchasing foods consider recent food recalls when shopping for groceries. Inspecting your foods before you purchase them like meat, poultry produce, and cheese needs to have proper color and no signs of dirt. Storing the meat, cheese, and poultry in the refrigerator or the freezer as soon as you get home from grocery shopping. Cleaning vegetables with a scrub brush is very important. Meat and poultry does not have to be rinsed. When preparing a meal make sure to have different cutting boards and knives for vegetables and meat. Also, making sure anything you are cooking reaches the safe inside temperature is very important.

2. Describe some illnesses or problems the safety issues might cause, and ways to prevent the illnesses or problems.

According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) there are many different diseases causing microbes or pathogens that can contaminate foods. There has been a discovery of more than 250 different types of food borne diseases, which cause viruses, parasites, and bacteria. All the types of food borne diseases have different symptoms, the toxin enters the human body through the gastrointestinal tract causing nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramps, and vomiting. The challenges in food safety can continue to increase because of changes in food production and supply, increase number of multi-state outbreaks, changes in the environment that leads to food contamination, new toxics, and different contaminated foods such as prepackaged foods such as raw cookie dough, peanut butter, and bagged spinach. The germs responsible for food borne illness are E.…...

Purpose of Brochure

...Purpose of Brochure The main purpose of the brochure is to inform potential customers about the business, and what sorts of products they sell. Panel 1 – This panel is essentially the most significant as it is the first part of the brochure that potential customers will see. Panel 1 contains a small amount of text, with four images and a bold, eye-catching WordArt title. I feel that it is purposeful because the images represent the products which are sold within the shop, and the text offers a brief overview of what sorts of products the shop sells. Panel 2 – The purpose of Panel 2 is to provide the potential customers with details on how to contact the business, should they want to. It contains the address of the business, an email address, and a telephone/fax number. There is also a map of Llangollen showing where ‘Cottage Cards and Crafts’ is located. Panel 3 – It informs potential customers about the business, with minimal text so that it does not look overloaded with text (which could put people off viewing it). It also contains 3 images of Llangollen within panel 3, which are purposeful because ‘Cottage Cards & Crafts’ is located in Llangollen. Panel 4 – The purpose of panel 4 is to convey a small amount of information about lovespoons. There is also 2 images on that panel; one of lovespoons and one of a welsh dragon. They are purposeful because ‘Cottage Cards & Crafts’ sell welsh lovespoons. Panel 5 - This panel contains a combination of text and......

Psychodynamic Theories Brochure

...Psychodynamic Theories Brochure PSY/405 There have been several theories throughout the years, and they all have their strengths and also their limitations with explaining an individual’s behavior. Theorists like Freud, Adler, Jung, Klein, and Horney, all have unique personalities and life experiences that integrate into the various psychodynamic theories. According to Feist and Feist (2009), “All theories are a reflection of their authors’ personal backgrounds, childhood experiences, philosophy of life, interpersonal relationships, and unique manner of looking at the world”  (p. 7). Freud’s Theory According to Freud, the personality includes three parts, known as the id, the ego, and the superego. The desire driven id places demands on the ego for wants, needs, sex, and immediate satisfaction. There are certain needs that drive people, for example, hunger, thirst, fatigue, sex, and others. When looking at the ego, it operates on the reality principle, which means it will help any individual interact and socialize with the real world. Then there is the superego that holds a person’s morality based on what the person takes in from his or her parents and from others in society. Adler’s Theory Adler’s theory is based that a person’s need to be successful or superior derives and or comes from the person’s internal drives (Feist & Feist, 2009). Adler’s theory also states that a person’s personality and behavior is how the person will see and or perceive the......

Job Fair Brochure

...Assignment: Job Fair Brochure Bus/210 John Chandler 04/14/2012 Katurah Allen This discussion will describe the structure, business model, and culture of a selected business. There will be a justification for why each element was selected, and an explanation of how each choice of elements will impact the chosen business. A business model is like any other model; it represents and summarizes how whole businesses do business. The business model explains, in summary, the fundamental nature of the business and how the business makes money, without having to share complexities of strategies,” processes, units, rules, hierarchies, workflows, and systems” (Business Model Designs and Innovation, 2005, p.1). For example, the business that I choose is a Geriatric Health Club and Daycare. The company makes money by offering wellness and exercise services to senior citizens all over the Merrillville community; for a reasonable amount of money. The fundamental nature of the club is to encourage the elderly, ages 55 and older, to continue to live a healthier and active life, by offering leisure activities, social interaction with their peers, nutrition education, and exercise (Business Model Designs, and Innovation, 2005). The business model was chosen because research, indicates that “High-intensity resistance exercise training is a feasible and effective means of counteracting muscle weakness and physical frailty in very elderly people. In contrast, multi nutrient ......
