Composition Rough Draft 1 There are many people who have impacted my life and have inspired me to lead the life I live today. Among these people is my step-father, who came into my life at about the age of nine. Essentially, he has taught me how to be a man, and how to handle situations in such a way that a real, mature man would. He is one of the most dedicated and hardworking people I have ever known, and has shown me by example how I should act, work, and respect others. If it were not for him, I may or may not have some of the great qualities that he has imposed on me, merely by leading by example. My step-father stepped in at a crucial time for my family, and I learned to love him, especially for all the support he has always provided for us. He is the perfect example of the "Right Person, Right Place, Right Time," and my life would be much different if it were not for him. The moment he stepped into my life is the moment I would describe as a Kairos. This Kairos has shaped and molded my life into what it is now, and I can thank him for playing such a vital role.
One factor of this Kairos is the ethos aspect. Through a showing of incomparable work and dedication, my step-father has exhibited rationale for me to follow his footsteps. A great level of respect and trust was placed into his hands when he came into my life, and he guided me by showing me how I should act and work, not by simply telling me what to do. I was asked to join him for a day of labor one weekend and I figured I might as well, just to score some spending money. I never fully understood what it took to work like a man, and I feel as though I always reaped the benefits that came with the money that he would make, without fully knowing what it was like to work for the money. After that day, my view was completely altered. Not only does it take a tremendous amount of physical…...

...Personal Responsibility Rough Draft An individual’s personality is made up of many different parts including personal responsibility. This can arguably be the most important part of one’s character because it can reveal who they really are. My level of personal responsibility shows to others the importance I place on every facet of my daily life. These can range from my ability to cope with rapid change, the importance I place on my education, and my level financial responsibility. These daily events, along with many others, require a great deal of personal responsibility. I believe that taking responsibility for my obligations not only shows others what kind of person I am, it also boosts my self-esteem and puts me at peace. Most people, including students, teachers, and others who work with deadlines know the relief that can only be felt when a large assignment or project is completed. Being responsible for my assignments, tasks, and other daily burdens rewards me with a strong sense of accomplishment, followed by peace of mind. Obtaining a college degree is undoubtedly one of the truest tests of endurance and dedication. Though most undergraduate students obtain their degree in four years, it can be completed in as little as three years. This is a prime example of benefiting from a strong sense of personal responsibility. A successful college career is the ultimate test of responsibility, consisting of strict deadlines and difficult exams with little to no......

...situations. For most people an online education will offer much more than a traditional education simply because of the level of difficulty, convenience, environment, and flexible schedule. Online education is just as hard as learning in a traditional classroom. Many people need the human interaction between teacher and student in order to succeed in the course. Both types of environments can be considered engaging, although the online environment requires class discussion and participation. Traditional school does not offer any type of flexibility when it comes to attending class. Online classes allow the students to log on and do any homework when it fits right with their schedule. ...Career choices pros and cons Last year I decided to go back to school to change my career. For the last nine years I have been in management running restaurants, one of which being my own. I can honestly say I will never want to work in a restaurant ever ever again. I chose HVAC as the profession that I thought would benefit my family the best; especially since it is either roasting or freezing in Fresno. Working with my hands has always interested me and I've found that I am a mechanical person when it comes to figuring things out. There are a few different paths I can take with HVAC, some of them paying more then others. That really is the goal to make as much money as possible so my family is comfortable. One direction is to get my contractors license and be a independent contractor; the other is to work for a company and start out at the bottom. There will be pros and cons to both but I'm leaning towards one more than the other. As a contractor I would be in charge of my own schedule but I would have to schedule my own work and could not depend on it just coming to me. As an employee I could work full time and not have to hunt down work, though I would be locked into a schedule without the ability to change it. If I work for myself the profit margin can be much higher, though I would have to be responsible for a lot more with edd, taxes, state board, etc.. When working for a company the only thing I would be responsible for would be the quality and efficiency of......

...Course Project Author Note This rough draft is being submitted on September 13, 2013, for N234/CET2810C Section 01 Microsoft Exchange Server course. Course Project When dealing with one main building and six surrounding offices it’s best to decide to keep it as simple as possible. By locating everything in one place, since everyone is on the same domain there’s no need to have more than one of anything except when it comes to redundancy. By adding more mail servers and a more domain controllers it has allowed you to have a backup solution in place in case of server failure. All sites will send and receive messages through the Edge Transport Server this will help control the flow of messages coming and going from the internet. The edge transport server also plays a huge role in protecting the users from spam and viruses. Then from within the hospital, deployed inside of the Active Directory Forest the Hub Transport role much like a mail sorter will be handling all flow of messages from within the domain. Also this is where transport rules and journaling rules are applied and it makes sure all the right recipients receive their mail. All messages going back out through the internet to any recipient of one of the six locations will first have to be relayed by the hub transport server to the edge transport server. All messages being submitted to the transport hub server will be SMTP. Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is used to send messages over the internet or from......

Essay 1 Rough Draft

...Gary Riley Riley 1 Savannah Sipple ENG 101 26 November 2015 IDENTITY Whenever someone asks us who we are, our first natural response is going to be to tell them our name. Then, if they do not know you, your next response would usually be to begin naming some of your relatives in hopes that they might know some of them, which then might give one a better understanding of who you are. The next question is usually, "Where are you from? Followed by yet another popular question, which is, "What do you work at?" These are the main questions that we as a society base someone's identity on. Take me for an example: My name is Gary Lee Riley, I am from a small county in Southeastern Kentucky, and I am a part time farmer while also a full time on-line student. However, if one were to ask you who you really are, this can promote some deep thought into what really shapes us into the person who looks back at us when we look into a mirror. Beginning at birth, we start learning how to be a human being, and our surroundings is our teacher. We learn to walk and talk and pretty much everything else by watching others, such as parents and siblings, yet we learn to do it "our way," because everyone is unique and "puts their own spin on things," so to speak. If one were to assume that identity is what we are......

...Once ethics and values are defined, it seems a simple enough task to use them. A great thing about people is the fact that they are all different. Each person has different backgrounds, experiences, and opinions. A lot of these experiences are what create the adults, professionals, and students they are today. To define an individual’s ethical code are sources which include parents, own experiences, and society. Parents can be a major source for ethics and values because they are there from childbirth to another eighteen years. “The people you spend the majority of your formative years with are going to be the biggest influence on you” (Hodge, 2010, para.1). This statement can be agreed with because the majority of people have similar opinions about colleges, sports teams, and politics as their parents. Having ones own experiences will be another influence on creating a code of ethics and values. If a person grows up with poor life choices and even poorer morals then the result will typically be poor beliefs. The author, Cody Hodge, states “we all have to use our own time on the Earth as a guide and us that when we are making decisions in life especially at work” (2010, para.3). Society has a funny way of determining what is right or wrong. Laws and codes are set up for this purpose but it is not society that chooses which laws or codes to follow. Starting a new job and entering a new workplace will make an employee aware of what acceptable behavior is and what is...

...great deal of my time thinking about the power of language—the way it can evoke an emotion, a visual image, a complex idea, or a simple truth. Language is the tool of my trade. And 1 use them all—all the Englishes 1 grew up with. Recently, I was made keenly aware of the different Englishes I do use. I was giving a talk to a large group of people, the same talk I had already given to half a dozen other groups. The talk was about my writing, my life, and my book The Joy Luck Club, and it was going along well enough, until I remembered one major difference that made the whole talk sound wrong. My mother was in the room. And it was perhaps the first time she had heard me give a lengthy speech, using the kind of English I have never used with her. I was saying things like "the intersection of memory and imagination" and "There is an aspect of my Fiction that relates to thus-and-thus"—a speech filled with carefully wrought grammatical phrases, burdened, it suddenly seemed to me, with nominalized forms, past perfect tenses, conditional phrases, forms of standard English that I had learned in school and through books, the forms of English I did not use at home with my mother. Just last week, as 1 was walking down the street with her, I again found myself conscious of the English I was using, the English 1 do use with her We were talking about the price of new and used furniture, and I heard myself saying this: "Not waste money that way." My husband was with us as well, and he......
