Riordan New DSL/Cable access services

T1 service uses a fiber optic line sometimes copper, it carries 24 digitized voice channels or data at a rate of 1.544 MBPS. It plugs into the phone system if its only being used for voice calls, if data is being used then it plugs into the network’s router. By moving from high-end T1 services to DSL/Cable access services, Riordan monthly network communications cost will be reduced. With download availability up to 18Mbps per circuit, you could move Active Directory, Exchange services, file sharing, digital training and database services over multiple links to cloud computing, reducing both operating and network access services costs. DSL/Cable with the Cisco 1800 series makes sense. Download speeds of 18Mbps, Internet access at all locations would run faster than traditional T1 services. The savings will not only be on hardware and network services, but also the ability to expand data center options in order to reduce costs while increasing productivity in all locations . T1’s are more reliable, only in part because they are at lower speeds than DSL or Cable. The interesting thing is that almost all T1 service is HDSL. T1 service for most copper installation since the 1990’s has moved from expensive repeaters and careful cable studies to what is called High capacity DSL, or HDSL. T1 outage repairs need to be under 4 hours for 95% of all T1 outages that’s required by the FCC. Competition from DSL/Cable G3/G4 cellular, WiMAX; market failures for business class DSL/Cable is unacceptable if market share are to stay stable or grow. The Federal Reserve has moved from T1 service to Cisco low end routers with DSL. Fast food industries discovered that T1 service to each store was cost prohibitive and also moved from T1 service to DSL/Cable business service. The Cisco 1800 series can provide 100Mbps of firewall inspection, 40Mbps of VPN services and 50 VPN tunnels at the same time without Wi-Fi for around $800.00. This change could be the difference in paying $550.00 per circuit to $85.00 per circuit.…...

...Riordan Manufacturing will use a repurposing method by adding a shrink wrap machine in the middle of the assembly line this will increase productivity by eliminating the movement of packaging to other departments. This new process will save time and money by shipping the fans out faster to the buyers. The old process transferred items to different departments that decreased time by stopping the process by moving the items. It required an additional person to move the fans manually the old way that required extra labor. Repurposing will increase the assembly process and make it more efficient and quick. Repurposing will allow labor cost to go down because employees will be reduced by three employees saving the time bringing items needed closer and connecting packaging and assembling in the same line. A full-time inventory stock employee will be needed to make sure all items are available when needed to restock. The restocking will be done when items reach a certain level and in a timely manner. The current process required additional labor to move the items but this process will decrease the labor and hours it takes to get the fans through the assembly line. The packaging department will be eliminate and added to the assembly line. A bar code sprayer will print bar codes on each package after it goes through the shrink wrap machine. These new changes will help the current process with time, labor, and money. The current process transferred fans from the assembly line to......

...Currently Riordan uses a very conventional, antiquated process for inventory management. Most inventory checks are done through a printed form and then handed off to an Inventory Clerk for data entry. This process consumes time and allows room for human error. To enhance the inventory management at Riordan Manufacturing, implementation of a barcode scanning system and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) system is recommended. This system will provide full automation of inventory tracking from the receipt of raw materials to the shipment of finished products. This will reduce human error, accelerate the movement of inventory, and reduce stock-out. In addition, it will solve Riordan’s supply chain problem by implementing a shorter and more efficient supply chain process. Riordan Manufacturing’s objective in implementing a new inventory management process is to increase revenue and financial stability. Automation of the inventory management system will lessen human discrepancies/errors thus minimizing lost revenue/cost.
