Final Project: Profile Report “Psychologists seek to explain how we perceive, learn, remember, solve problems, communicate, feel, and relate to other people, from birth to death, in intimate relationships and in groups, to understand, measure, and explain the nature of intelligence, motivation, and personality, as well as individual and group differences (Morris & Maisto, 2005, Ch. 1, p. 4, para. 1).” There is much to be learned from ourselves and others. This paper will compare and contrast the responses of the interviewee with myself concerning the learning and memory processes, the Myer’s Briggs test and personality, attitudes, and motivations providing a profile report of both. The person I interviewed is a 26-year-old, white (Italian/Scotch/Irish) female. The highest education level she has reached is a high school diploma. She is currently employed full-time, married, with one child.

The learning and memory process: The interviewee remembers information more accurately if she observes the behavior being performed rather than reading how the behavior is performed. For example, if she were told to paint a picture by following directions by observing someone or reading them, she would remember better by observing someone painting a picture than by reading the directions on how to do it. She paints a better mental picture by seeing something done. When she reads a word, she does not look at each individual letter; she thinks of it like a picture. She only has to drive a route once to remember how to arrive at a destination because she keeps visual memory well. She believes that she remembers visuals well because she pays very close attention to detail. She does not usually need to rehearse information to retain it. If she read about…...

Profile

...English 134 24 January 2012 The Man Behind the Camo, by Kelly McBride, is a profile that focuses on the author’s younger brother, Scott, and his experiences with the concept of manhood. McBride goes about this by describing past events like childhood traditions and activities that she shared with Scott, and then providing her own commentary and thoughts on the matter. McBride’s detailed recounting of her personal experiences helps make this piece a well-written profile because it effectively gives the reader insight into Scott’s childhood as well as their relationship as brother and sister. This firsthand source (memories written onto paper) helps the reader to feel as if they were really there, and makes them more aware of what the actual events were like and how they helped McBride come to the conclusions that she did about Scott and masculinity. The author uses both quotes and detailed imagery to portray her brother in this profile, a combination that both appeals to the senses and works very well to describe events. McBride uses quotes to emphasize or confirm the memory that she is currently describing, which helps to lend the reader a hand and give them a real example of the subject while helping to align the author’s train of thought and the story. For example, when McBride is recalling Scott’s first venture into manhood in the form of football she quotes him saying “’All of my friends were doing it that year. Football is just kind of the ‘guy’ thing to......

Career Profile

...Interest Profiler quite a while back. I do not recall the testing method, but while viewing the results I do recall the impression it left on me. According to my results, I was assigned conventional, social, and realistic aptitudes. I agree with this assessment; the description seemed to describe the needs in my current career. According to the profile, “conventional occupations frequently involve following set procedures and routines” (University of Phoenix, 2014). In my role as a trainer and Continuous Improvement, this was my job description exactly. The Social Aspect perfectly aligns with my strong communication skills and mentoring roles I have adopted with many employees. The last of the profile indicated ‘realistic’ aptitude, which lends itself to “practical, hands-on problems and solutions” (University of Phoenix, 2014) which is also the goal of Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement. I cannot say I agreed with the career matches, but in all other aspects, the profile was correct. The Career Plan Building Activity: Competencies was completed a while ago, and I cannot recall the questions it uses to assess to competencies. The report does not provide detail, but I can comment on the results I have available. The highest competency listed was writing, followed by applying expertise, adapting to change, researching, logical thinking and cooperating. I am pleased to see research and logical thinking were listed in my skill set. In my opinion, these core......

Finally we will explain the common decision-making models and described which one the we used to decide on the personality profile. This particular assessment has been repeatedly used on the workforce to originally test employees who possessed a variety of clinical disorders (Occupational Medicine Journal, 2013, p. 361). This type of profile contains about 58 “behavioral oriented items related to work attitudes, habits, and behaviors” (Bolton, Roessler, 1986, para. 3). It uses a four point scale to determine strength, employment asset, adequate performance, and performance inconsistency, which could lead to problems down the line according to Bolton, Roesler (1986). This 58 item profile forms 11(11) “rationally derived scales (Tyerman, & Young, 2000, p. 15): • Acceptance of the work role • Ability to profit......
