First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people, 2even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior, 4since he wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all, revealing God’s purpose at his appointed time. 7For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle – I am telling the truth; I am not lying – and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8So I want the men to pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without anger or dispute.

Conduct of Women

9Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing, 10but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God. 11A woman must learn quietly with all submissiveness. 12But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man. She must remain quiet. 13For Adam was formed first and then Eve. 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, because she was fully deceived, fell into transgression. 15But she will be delivered through childbearing, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with…...

Something

...-One Walking into school after months of not showing up was like walking into a nightmare. I forgot the smell and the peeling paint and the tiled floor. I forgot how the people talk and walk and stare. But being here again, it comes back in huge explosive waves. I feel sick. All I’ve been feeling lately is sick. I search for my locker. All the numbers are wrong, jumbled and unreadable. Asking would mean something is clearly wrong. I hold onto all my books, my backpack pressing hard on my shoulders. The bell rings and it is louder than I remember. I clench my teeth. The sounds resembles nails on a chalkboard, at least to me it does. Every day for two months I went to history class at this time in Mrs. Waters’ room. And now, I have no idea where it is. “Edith,” a girl’s voice says. I turn. “Yeah,” I say to Clara. Clara is the sweetest person on the planet. For the longest time I thought she was super fake because how can someone be that nice all the time. But she just is. “You have Waters still, right?” “Yeah,” I say. She loops her arm around mine. “I’m glad they didn’t change it.” “Me too,” but I don’t really care. Pulling me around corners and through different hallways we end up in history class. The room looks familiar, but a faraway familiar. Like a dream or déjà vu. She sits in the front row right next to the teacher’s desk. I escape to the back, the corner, right next to the window. Clara looks around and then moves to the seat in front of me. “I get it,”......

Be Yourself Be

...20 December 2011 Be Yourself Every morning at 5:00 a.m. my alarm rang. I had gotten accustomed to waking up to the sound of pots being gathered, plates and cups being assembled and sometimes shattering glass. That was a typical early morning. My mother was getting ready to open the restaurant as she did every morning for the early birds. Her restaurant was an annexation to our house. While my siblings were still asleep, I would crawl out of bed and head to the kitchen to give her a hand. Being in the kitchen to help cook was the highlight of my day. Parents in general inculcate to their children at an early age, the differences between genders. Before a child is born, his or her parents have in most cases chosen the color of clothing based on his or her gender. Society has predetermined that the color blue represents the male sex and the color pink the female. White and yellow are known to be unisex colors. The same gender categorization extends when it comes to selecting toys for children. Trucks and cars are known to be for boys whereas Barbie dolls are known to be for girls (Zhumkhawala). Children are not only influenced by their parents’ behavior in reference to gender, but also by their social environment. Individuals who are raised among brothers and sisters can observe the ways that their parents would try to make a clear distinction of gender identities between them. The authors of Parenting and the child’s world state that parents play an important role in......

Eating Yourself Beautiful

...Women’s health Final Research Paper August 2, 2012 Eating Yourself Beautiful Have you ever heard the statement, you are what you eat? We’ll if you haven’t then let me be the first to tell you, it’s true. The food we eat and put into our bodies is the fuel our bodies need to function properly. Hippocrates believed that the human body has an innate capacity for self-healing (Colquhoun, Ledesma, 2008). Without the proper foods and nutrients our bodies cannot absorb the proper enzymes, nutrients and antioxidants needed to maintain a healthy body. There are very few things a person can do to impact their lives more powerfully, deeply and permanently than changing your diet. Every piece of food that enters your mouth has a direct impact on your mind, body, and soul. “The human body is the best picture of the human soul,” Ludwig Wittgenstein, Austrian-British philosopher. That’s the philosophy that I have learned through my research into the health benefits of food. Everything going on, on the outside of your body is a reflection of what’s going on in your internal organs. I learned this for myself firsthand a couple of months ago when I changed my diet completely. I am a thirty year old single mother who just recently moved home with my family to finish my degree in nursing. This stage of my life has by far been the hardest stage of my life. I was suffering with depression, anxiety, and on top of that my health was slowly deteriorating in front of my eyes. I didn’t......

...events that have occurred during a hand and then you must decide what you would do next. Most of the examples come from the higher limits, although you will see some hands from the lower limits. The strategies at both the limits are similar once you have a good understanding of how the number and type of players in a hand relate to strategy and strength of hand. I have played in some $3-$6 games tougher than some of the $20-$40 games I have played. There are some really good players who only play at the lower limits, while at the same time there are plenty of really poor players who play at $20-$40. Sometimes it is more difficult to "read" your opponents at the lower levels since they generally make more mistakes. Nevertheless, I believe all of the examples are relevant and helpful no matter what limit you are playing as long as you keep in mind the number and type of players you are playing against. When reading through the problems, it is important to realize that the play of the particular player is not always correct but usually reasonable. Nevertheless, the question will guide you through the hand and then ask what you would do next given the sequence of events, even though you may not agree with all of the player's moves up to that point. For each question, I give my recommended "answer" to the problem. To best improve your game, answer the problems yourself before reading my answer and explanation. My answers are meant to demonstrate the best strategy to use most......

How You Will Prepare Yourself and Reach an Agreement with Management

...difficulties or change in government policy. In such situations, managers can, for instance, devise a strategy and set up committees that deal with disturbances and crises. (iii)Resource allocator As resource allocators, managers are responsible for the distribution of the organisation's resources such as money, time, equipment, staff and materials among organisational members. (iv) Negotiator The negotiator role relates to participation in negotiation activities with outside organisations (for example when negotiating a contract with suppliers) or with individuals working for the same organisation (for instance when bargaining about working terms and conditions with the trade union). Negotiation plays an important part of the manager's job because of his/her authority, responsibility and knowledge of information. 21 Evaluation of Mintzberg's role approach Mintzberg acknowledged that his categorisation of the ten roles was somewhat an arbitrary division of the manager's activities. It presented only one of the many possible ways of classifying the managerial roles. In practice, the ten roles are not isolated but they form an integrated whole. The effectiveness of the manager's performance is affected if any of the roles is removed. A number of studies support Mintzberg's view that this set of ten roles is common to the work of all managers in different organisations and at different levels of the hierarchy. However, the importance of the roles varies......

... such as “active learning,” 1 University of Kentucky, USA Downloaded from sag.sagepub.com by guest on January 21, 2015 466 Simulation & Gaming 41(4) “experiential learning,” and so on. We also have agreement that PBL, in this broad sense, is more involving and enjoyable than more traditional approaches (Albanese & Mitchell, 1993; Colliver, 2000; Lycke, Grøttum, & Strømsø, 2006; Norman & Schmidt, 2000). PBL approaches not only help stimulate interest in the subject but also—as some scholars (e.g., Riis, Hohansen, & Millelsen, 1995) have shown, although the point is still in contention (see the reviews in Gijbels et al., 2005; Prince, 2004)— can promote more knowledge transfer as well as long-term retention. Furthermore, because learning styles can differ considerably from person to person, for example, four types based on the Myers-Briggs type indicator (McCaulley, 1990) and five according to the Felder-Silverman hearing style model (Felder, 1996), PBL accommodates more of those styles than traditional classroom practice can. Indeed, successful PBL is not learning for its own sake; instead, the focus is on providing an experience that gives participants a sense that they are engaging in a real problem; learning then becomes a natural by-product of their engagement in and motivation to solve the problem. In that way, concepts are introduced in a more natural way, that is, by a facilitator or coach as needed rather than front-loaded into lectures according to......

5 Ways to Prepare for an Interview

...ways to prepare for an interview Prepare a good answer for the key job interview questions “What are your strengths?” and “What are your weaknesses?” Keep in mind what the job description says – and focus on things that they need. Instead of saying what every single person in the world says when asked this question (hard-working, a team-player, good organizational skills…) say “I am good at anticipating problems and taking quick action. Don’t say anything too critical/negative (Accountant – “I am not very good with numbers”!) therefore reply with something that points out a weakness that you have worked on or are currently working on, like this: “About 2 years ago I had problems with creating complicated spreadsheets and really my company had no one to train me at all. So I took a course in my spare time for a few months so I can learn more about spreadsheets. Now only occasionally I do need to refer back to my notes but I have learned to be more patient with myself and to take my time if I am getting stuck or confused.” Exhibit good body language/Impression When sitting in an interview remember to use good posture and don't cross your arms when sitting across from your potential employer. Likeability is vital, act confident and friendly with solid eye contact, and a lot of smiles. If you do this right, you will set off the right energy and the chances of the interview going well will increase. This is a small and simple step that you should always do to prepare......

...They have been capable of successfully launching rockets into the stratosphere, spending large sums of money to make this fantasy come true. Not criticizing their accomplishments, but I do believe that this is just a waste of time. Let’s start with the United States. The United States has managed to send about 12 American men to the moon, to this day they are still spending money to try and get more people on the moon and explore new planets. Knowing this, America’s economy is getting worse and worse. Taxes are going up and that doesn’t really seem to do anything or make a difference because Americans don’t want to spend more money on taxes. As of October 13th 2013, America’s debt has increased by 328 billion dollars in a single day surpassing 17 trillion dollars for the first time. Now, if America has so much time to somehow acquire money that can send astronauts up to space, it would be very considerate if they thought of using that money to get America out of this 17 trillion dollar predicament. Another point is that, money is better used to help the people of their own country have or live better lives. We know that us humans exist but we don't know if these so called "space creators" exist so why bother. If there are things out there they don't hurt us. We people in your country we are like family and you have to help family because family comes first Nowadays, Space and Government agencies have devoted more than hundreds of billions of dollars to space......

How Something Can Come from “Nothing”

...day that something can come from nothing. A god of the gaps is probably the most common, as well as most elementary, argument for debating science vs. religion. This idea is simply employing a divine meaning to things that science has no answer to. It is often a question of why, and assumes purpose to everything. One thing that science cannot refute is a purpose to our world. It is scientifically inert, that is to say that there is no plausible way to test its predictions. The scientific method is just field testing the observable world we see around us. We are all naturally inquisitive; we thrive to find our “purpose” in the world. But this, I believe, is simply a limit to our senses. When there are questions that science cannot answer, such as why we came to be, skeptics often say that it is outside the bounds of our universe. This, to me, is just a lazy answer. The god of the gaps is a “fill in the blank” answer to everything that has been so far, untestable. This does not mean that anybody has the right to invoke a spiritual meaning, or a majestic god to explain things. This explanation opens far more doors of unanswerable questions that frankly, are irrational to believe in. How, by definition, means in what manner, or by what means (“how”, 2016). Why is defined as; for what reason, cause, or purpose (“why”, 2016). These are two very distinct meanings; again one invokes a purpose, where the other is simply asking how something......
