Positive Behavior Replacement Brittany St.Clair Grand Canyon July 9, 2013

Reinforcement is a consequence which follows a behavior, and therefore strengthens the behavior. (Wheeler, 2010) In regards to wanting to teach children a better behavior path to take, this is stating that the reinforcement given to the children are only considered such if it actually makes for better behavior decisions. Reinforcement occurs consistently in everyday life in things such as work, school, parenting, and so much more; and using reinforcement is a great start to strengthening the behavior. There is both positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement, both of which could work to the advantage of both the child as well as the educator. Positive reinforcement is a well known form of reinforcement that is often used in a classroom setting. Positive reinforcement used within the classroom is when the educator uses an activity, a behavior plan, or something that would increase the probability of the behavior to be better in the future. This can often be the best route to take when attempting to curb negative behaviors as well as to initiate more positive behaviors. One example of how to use positive reinforcement in a classroom would be a teacher giving a student options. The child can then determine what they would prefer. For example if a child has a problem with wanting to act out during class, a teacher wanting to use positive reinforcement could use options with the student. If for example the student can make it until Thursday without acting out, the student can choose whether he or she wants computer time or library time. Offering freedoms and choices as reinforcement is a great way to get children to make better choices. If there is a tangible incentive for a child to behave, then the teacher’s desired…...

This paper will detail a Plan for Positive Influence that will increase team motivation, satisfaction, and performance. The first element of this plan is to implement an effective appraisal system. An effective appraisal system “provides an opportunity to set goals, clarify expectations, reinforce a job well done, initiate change, and foster a healthy working relationship between supervisor and employee” (Ditzler, 1994, para. 2). Strategic control is also enhanced with such a system. “An effective performance appraisal system assures that feedback is provided on a continuous basis, not in the form of a written annual evaluation, but in the form of daily, weekly, and monthly comments from an employee’s supervisor or manager”(Caruth & Humphreys, 2008, p.27). To promote open communication and constructive feedback, team members will have a bi- weekly one on one meeting with their immediate manager. During this meeting, manager and employee will initiate and follow-up on discussions regarding employee performance (as to what is being done well and what requires improvement),......

Creating a Plan for Positive Influence

...Creating a Plan for Positive Influence Sandra Frieze University of Phoenix Creating a Plan for Positive Influence The effect of a positive influence plan in a business can transform a working environment, especially when a team needs to work together for a period of one year before the project is complete. Productivity increases, customers are more satisfied and new clients are attracted to the company. A manager must take time to fully develop and implement a plan based on positive influence. This is accomplished through self-analysis, daily efforts in role modeling and instilling positive behaviors in workers. These types of initiatives create a motivated and dedicated team. Positive Behaviors Assess yourself critically in terms of your own positive behavior. As the manager, you are the role model for your employees so you need to correct and address issues, such as pessimistic language, in a timely manner. If a negative issue comes up, it is important to address and resolve the issue in as much of a positive way as possible. Establishing and keeping a positive atmosphere and environment can take some effort. Encourage your employees to become more positive in little ways like smiling more, speaking in an upbeat tone and thanking co-workers more often for their contributions.
