1st Week of December

I was very excited that finally I can have my OJT because in my imagination having an OJT is fun, but it was wrong, because it is not an easy job. On my first day of my training I was oriented by Ms. Emily Roma the Manager of Pizza Hut SM Cebu. She was a very strict manager because she wants that everything is perfect. So as a trainee I feel frighten to her.
On my first week, I can really feel the pain in my legs and feet. On that first week of my OJT I wanted to quit, because I feel exhausted after my shift. But I pursue to continue to have my OJT because it is for my own good.
Ms. Emily assigned me at making the pizza which is pretty cool for me because I really want putting toppings in the pizza. At first it is quite hard for me because I don’t know the flavors of the pizza yet. Kuya Hammer and Kuya Jason are the one who taught me what toppings that to be put in a certain flavor of the pizza and its standard amount, like mozzarella cheese, ham, pineapple, etc.

2nd Week of December
It is already the second week of my trainee but still I didn’t memorize yet the flavor of the pizza but I really try my best to know them all. So I always keep on asking to Kuya Hammer and Kuya Jason what pizza flavor they are making. The first flavor I know is the “ALOHA” which has a mozzarella cheese, diced ham, spiced ham, and…...

My Report on Education in India

...Inside India’s Education I am glad to say that I am one of those lucky few kids in India who had the privilege of attending a private school. My parents could afford to send me to a good school, and I am eternally grateful to them. But, I did not understand how lucky I was until 2006, when I volunteered to teach English to a group of kids studying or rather enrolled in a government school where subjects are taught in regional language. It was when I met these kids aged between 6-12, and I got firsthand information about their class structure, teachers, syllabus, etc. Recently, I read “Needs Improvement’: Despite Progress, India’s primary education system has ways to go” published in The Lauder Global Business Insight Report 2013 by Knowledge@Wharton. In the rest of this paper, I would like to compare my first-hand experience and reflect on this article. Majority of the population in India lives in rural areas with access mostly to government led primary schools. Rural India is the backbone of India and the future of India lies in the hands of the children of India. Currently the problems I see with government-led schools in India are: * The teaching medium in most of the schools is the regional language of the state in which the school is located [5] * The very large ratio of students to teachers hence lack of individual attention [6] * A large number of untrained teachers [7] * A general lack of disinterest in learning due to the attitude of people...

Pizza Hut

...Pizza Hut History The Pizza Hut story began in 1958 in Wichita, Kansas where two brothers, Danny and Frank Caney, opened their first restaurant. Within one year, they franchised their first unit. In 1968, the company entered the international market with a store in Canada. The following year stores opened in Australia, Mexico and Germany. In 1977, Pepsico, leader in the snack and beverage industry acquired Pizza Hut, initiating its entrance into the restaurant industry. At that point in time, Pizza Hut consisted of approximately 3,200 units (Tricon website 2001). By 1989, Pizza Hut had stores in fifty four countries and in the same year the company opened its first location in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The parent company Pepsico grew later with the acquisition of Taco Bell and KFC, each brand expanding through the development of company-owned units and franchises throughout the world. In an effort to sharpen Pepsico’s focus, in 1997, it announced a plan to separate the company’s packaged goods and restaurant businesses. The new company was named Tricon Global Restaurants, and upon its formation became the world’s largest restaurant company in terms of units, and second in the world in terms of sales (Pepsico websitepress releases). The Tricon corporate philosophy promotes “A passion for putting a ‘YUM’ on people’s faces around the world… that special eating experience that makes you smile and creates lifelong customers” (Tricon website 2001). ...between Structure and culture of Pizza Hut restaurant will have implications for Human resource development, since they are closely linked. HRD determines the effective ‘fits in’ provision in the organisation. Pizza Hut structure and culture fits in with Handy C (1985) ‘The web structure and power culture’. As pizza huts decisions are mainly undertaken at the top of the organization i.e. the head office instructs and gives feedback on the ‘CHAMPS’ standard in the restaurant which directly reflects the front line employees service level, indicating the head office balance of power according to restaurant general manager (RGM) . In addition development is also related to training objectives, which benefit the business and the individual employees, for instance areas for improvement where staff can reduce the time for delivering meals to tables, interact with customers more often so that business ‘CHAMP’ standards are satisfied and increase the customer repeat business in the process. Moreover the organisation moves very rapidly and change are dealt quickly i.e. new products in menu require employees to quickly adapt different techniques and learn promotions i.e. Christmas menus, learning to make smoothie drinks, using new coffee machine, preparing new desserts etc as soon as they are introduced. Secondly, the environment Pizza Hut operates is highly competitive i.e. Nandos, McDonalds etc as well being very sales based, because the head office sets weekly sales target, and if......

While people in every workplace talk about building teams and working as a team, it is not always easy developing an effective team. Through reflection on the communication and leadership trainings which we have had, I have become aware of useful strategies to deal with issues and to gain commitment to the goals of the team. These strategies include effective communication skills, learning my qualities and weaknesses so that I can work on them and developing team building skills. All these are important for my learning and for my development as a professional. My Ecological Footprint Report

...My Ecological Footprint Report Introduction The objective of the Ecological Footprint (EF) Calculator has allowed me to calculate overall impact on natural resources and to explore opportunities for changing my current lifestyle choices. It has also made me understanding of the linkages between environment, economy, society, and inter and intra-generational equity that relate each other. As our economy is generated by the goods and services developed from natural, social, built/financial capitals, this calculator highlights me the importance of how my daily decision-making can effect largely on the environment and my consumption is overtaken the ability of the earth to sustain inter and intra generations' life cycles. We including humans and other species have only one planet on the earth to survive well. Currently we have an ecological overshoot of human demands on natural assets which have exceeded the Earth's regenerative capacity. (Global Footprint Network, 2012) There are needs for precautions and remedial actions on increased consumptions over natural capital given by the planet's limited natural resources and ecological degradation. To avoid this upcoming effects, we all have our own individual's responsibility to reduce our impact and go GREEN from small to big chances which require our daily informed choices, planning, management, strategy and investment. Moreover, we should set realistic reduction targets and meet them for inter and intra-generations. The......

Pizza Hut Marketing Strategy

...income of people in Tier 2 cities is increasing at a rapid pace as shown in the table below. This clearly suggests that Tier II cities is fast expanding market and Pizza Hut should keep up with the pace and focus on opening more outlets in such cities. 2.2. Demographic Segmentation The second step of classifying customers is based on their demography. Classification based on Income, education or occupation is reasonable for the fast food industry. We finally segmented them based on Socio-Economic Classification (SEC) for India’s Urban Market, as it is a combination of both education and occupation, which indirectly factors in the salary component also. The group of target customers for Pizza Hut is decided as A1, A2, B1 and B2. The reason being this section of the populations have frequent meals in restaurants and also have the willingness to spend. They also have an active social life and hangout with friends or family in eating joints at least once a week. They are also the innovators or early adopters for new food products in the market. Also, people in the A1 and A2 categories can be targeted for the Dine in outlets, which are more expensive and offer a great ambience and more varieties. B1 and B2 sections might not the same purchasing power or willingness as the A1, A2 fine-dining restaurants. So, Pizza Hut Delivery outlets can be targeted at the B1 and B2 segments. 2.3. ...introducing us all to some crazy new ideas and ones that just might work. But before we dive into all of that, it’s time for lunch. Luckily we can order a pizza from Pizza Hut without breaking our keyboard stride. Pizza Hut is celebrating 20 years of online ordering at CES and that just sounds wrong. 20 years?! Back in 1994, they launched their first digital ordering hub called “PizzaNet.” The first-ever online order was a large pepperoni, mushroom and extra cheese pizza and they’ve been going strong ever since. So strong that they think of themselves as an ecommerce company – 40% of their orders come through the online system, 50% from mobile. Caroline Masullo, Pizza Hut’s director of digital experience told the LATimes that people were surprised to see a pizza company at CES but they shouldn’t be. “If you’re going to be a big e-commerce player, this is the place to be. This is where all the companies are, and we need to be on the cutting edge for our consumers’ sake. So I think we should always have a presence.” All kidding aside, the ability to order a pizza 7-days in advance is as radical as a car that reads your email to you while you drive. Both help you get things done more efficiently and ordering a pizza online is a lot safer than email in the car. Heck, you can probably order a pizza from your car using one of Pizza Hut’s dedicated apps. This past year, they added created an ordering app for the XBox360 giving gamers one less excuse to stop playing. Now,......
