My hometown is Beijing, I've lived here for 22 years, and I have a very deep feeling with Beijing. In order to obtain more choices and opportunities for the future life, I chose to come to Norwich to continue learning from a month ago. As we all known, the world is a vast and varied place, and every place has different customs. And I found some similarities and differences between Beijing and Norwich. I would explore only a few of the most important ones here.

I will talking about the similarities between the two city. Firstly, let’s start from the city transport. Beijing and Norwich are one of the most important and biggest city in their country. So the transport is a important part in their city. Both Norwich and Beijing have convenient transportation and well-developed transport. Secondly, both cities are located of the east in their countries. Thirdly, both two cities have similar public facilities, for instance, two cities both have prefect hospital system, education system and recreational facilities.

Now let's have a quick and short look at differences between Beijing and Norwich. First of all, Beijing is much bigger than Norwich. Beijing covers an area of more than 6336 square miles. Moreover, Beijing has a population of 14.93 million people, and Norwich has 3 million people. In addition, two cities have different climate. Beijing is a city with four distinct seasons. Affected by latitude and longitude, Norwich has greater temperature than Beijing.

In my opinion, two cities have more differences than similarities. The reason as follows. Beijing has long and illustrious history started some 500,000 years ago. Although now Beijing is a modern and fashionable city, also you can experience traditional Beijing life. Of course, Norwich is a modern international economic, financial and trade centre in UK. But as the capital of the PRC, Beijing is the nation political, economic, cultural and educational center as well as Chinese most important center for international trade and communications.…...

My Life

...This is my senior year so I have a heavy load with classes, leading clubs, my job, and volunteering so sometimes I feel overwhelmed. That brought my memory of struggling in swimming pool. Last week I had AP chemistry and humanities AC test on the same day while I was thinking which one I should approach, my phone rang. My boss asked me to update some information right away because there is some conference the week after. I wanted to say "No, I have too many things to do!" Then I thought: why did I take the job in the first place? I felt it is very important to be responsible as an employee so I decided to postpone my homework for a bit and finishing updating the site. One hour later after I reviewed all chapters of chemistry, I did some practice quiz. I was way too sleepy to study so I went to bed. Can I stand that I will have a bad grade? No, so I set up my alarm clock to 5 and wake up early in the morning to finish my reviewing of humanities. I learned that in life there will always be minor setbacks, weaknesses, and failures. I didn’t learn this just by waking up and have a bad day. It took an immense catastrophe to open my eyes that everything is bound to change sooner or later and there is nothing you can do, but pick yourself up and keep on moving. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana with my four siblings and mother. I have an older sister, a younger sister, and two younger brothers. I am the second to the oldest. I was use to my hometown New Orleans and leaving it......

...Memorandum TO: Senior Management FROM: Mario Jackson DATE: February 13, 2013 RE: Lathe A and B A review of lathes A and B was made for the Norwich Tool Company. This analysis was conducted by Mr. Mario Jackson, to determine the incremental benefits between lathe A and B. After closely analyzing the data from lathe A and lathe B it has been determined that Lathe B should be chosen for this project. Lathe B has a comparative advantage over lathe A due to the fact that it has a payback of 3.65 years and Lathe A has a has a payback of 4.04 years. In the long run it is a faster payoff. After doing an overview of the net present value is 58,132.88 for lathe A and an Internal Rate of Return of 15.95 percent. Lathe B has a net present value of 43,483.24 and an Internal Rate of Return of 17.34. Both options offer a Net present value greater than zero, which means they are both acceptable. The Internal Rate of Return for both Lathes is greater than 13% which is the minimum required expectation for Norwich Tool Company. The option of lathe B continues to be the better choice. The rankings in the two options are not conflicting since there is still an advantage of Lathe B over Lathe A. Both options are Greater than zero for the net present value and the Internal Rate of Return is greater than 13 percent, yet the investment for lathe B is less than lathe A, which indicates that the risk of return trade off again makes lathe B the top prospect since it has a......

It often can be visualized with a flowchart as a sequence of activities with interleaving decision points or with a Process Matrix as a sequence of activities with relevance rules based on the data in the process” (Wikipedia, 2012).There are many definitions of a business process. A process has a definite starting point for time, place, and point of input. The input is transformed into output via a set of interdependent activities. He paid from his own pocket to have a new door installed and had an employee stand outside to take orders. In January, 1975, the Drive-thru was fully operational, and was so well received that by 1976, McDonald’s corporate executives ordered them to be installed in other restaurants. My Hometown

...Ervan Valdez Professor Forest English 1010 75E 4/5/2014 My Hometown The most magnificent place to be, besides my bed, is San Francisco, California. The mixture of clean crisp air and air pollution, the gorgeous view atop the Coit Tower, and the taste of salt in the waters of the bay. It is Seven O’clock in the morning, the sun is starting to drag itself higher, shining the landscape, the scent of brewed coffee in every home and restaurant indicates the start of a beautiful day. People on their way to work, students on their way to school. For me, it’s exactly the memories and joy I experience when I am there that will always have a special place in my heart. We moved to many districts in San Francisco, but the home I will always remember was in the city limits located in the middle of downtown Tenderloin. It was an old apartment with the exterior occupied by loiterers which smell of burned nicotine, and the aroma of liquor. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the apartment where I would play freeze tag with my friends in the spacious red carpet hallways, jump three steps up or down in the carpeted stairs, and sneak up to the grey painted roof, tossing rocks off to the distance. There was a parking lot in the back for tenant’s vehicles, sometimes used by the public to park for special events or enjoy the weekend nightlife. Before the sun starts to set slowly, we would have a pickup game of basketball in a rim secured on a plywood that’s also secured on a high fence about ten......

...out of no occasion. When I first moved to Louisiana, My in-laws and the new friends I met told me about how they get together to eat crawfish. When I told them that I never heard of crawfish they just laughed at me, saying it was something that I had to experience for myself. A week later, I was invited to my first crawfish boil, at my in-laws house in Sunshine, a small town just outside of Baton Rouge. Coming from Tennessee, I thought a crawfish boil was similar a Tennessee -style fish fry. I’m not much of seafood eater. In Tennessee we eat more red meat then fish, but I do enjoy fish every once in awhile. On the morning of the crawfish boil, I call my mother- in- law to see if she wants me to bring a covered dish. She said, “Oh just c’mon,” meaning she had everything under control. She is a veteran of this kind of get- together, so there was no need to worry. She was on her way to Tony’s Seafood Market in Baton Rouge to pick up the crawfish. As my husband and I arrive at my in-Laws later that day, there was smoke in the yard. There was no grill, no grease getting hot, just a big gray pot cooking outside. I did not know that they made pots that big. Imagine my surprised when they threw a big bag of live crawfish into this boiling pot of water, spiced with crab boil. This concoction of Louisiana spices, gives off an aroma so strong that my eyes and nose begin to water. I was shock when my father-in- law told me he was preparing 600 pounds of......

My Hometown

...My Hometown I have many memories of my hometown. I began to grow up almost 30 years ago in Cuba's Capital. Then, Havana seemed different, compared to how it is todays. In these three decades Havana's architecture has been changing as well as the systems of urban transportation, and the opportunities of job. Actually it's Castro's Havana totally frozen on the time? There are several differences among my hometown 30 years ago and it now in the present. Between those 30 years Havana it has been changing architectonically. On one side a lot of homes and publics buildings have been neglected, and they are becoming dilapidated. Moreover the need to transform, both, the interior and the facades of houses to create several small spaces. Also, in some private places the decoration is not appropriate, subtracting beauty to the public ornamentation. Comparing to years ago is disrespecting to the original form from the foregoing in my hometown. The transportation system has changed over these 30 years. Earlier people used mainly public transport, bus and local taxis. All at a low price as possible for everyone. In contrast, today, there is good public transport and people mainly use private vehicles more than 50 years ago as taxis and pedicabs called up or bicycle taxis. Likewise, other types of taxis that only the state can pay people more economically. Moreover, the population has increased, creating more job opportunities privately previously did not......

Hometown Bar and Grills

...Hometown Bar and Grills On Saturday the 27th of February, at 5:30 pm, I accompanied my friends and their nephew to eat at Edna’s Bar and Grill, an independently owned fast casual restaurant. This restaurant is located in Macksville, Kansas, which is halfway between Dodge City Kansas and Hutchinson Kansas. Edna's is centrally located on Highway 50 in Macksville. On Thursday the 25th of February at 6:00 pm, three friends and I went to the Golden Q for dinner and drinks. The Golden Q is also an independently owned fast casual restaurant, located in downtown Hays, Kansas. Since it is located downtown and on a one way street this can make it difficult to find for travelers. Parking The parking at Edna's is slim out front with places along the highway and the other parking is on the west side; however, none of the parking is marked. Since it is a small town most people will walk to get to the restaurant therefore, parking is not necessary. The parking at the Golden Q is a little better but still not enough for how popular it is. The parking lot on the south side of the restaurant is paved with many parking spots. Unfortunately, the overflow parking lot on the north side is not paved so when it rains or snows it becomes a huge muddy mess. It also has a few parking spots along the street. Although, being centrally located downtown and close to campus many people can walk. Layout The entrance to Edna's is a single door with a screen that which you would see in a house.......

My Hometown Is Still in My Heart

...inimitable place to be, besides in my husband’s arms, is Harrogate, Tennessee. The rolling hills, clean crisp air, and spaciousness all surpass the city life. The memories and joy I experience when I am there will always have a special place in my heart. My house resided in the country. A cow field was my backyard, and I would play hide and seek with my friends behind the hay bales. From the moment we got home and put our Bratz Doll backpacks down until the moment the pinkish, yellow sun was setting, my friends and I were always in a new adventure. At times, the golden rays would shine and radiate without a cloud in the sky. The gentle breeze was just enough to make it comfortable. The grass had already dried from the early morning dew, making it look freshly cut and greener than ever. As we would run around making up games to play, my black and white English Springer Spaniel, otherwise known as Bubba, would follow us eagerly with his wet teeming tongue hanging out of his parched mouth and his tail wagging like a hammer in an ongoing alarm clock. In Knoxville, the population and space is far too crowded to enjoy pleasures like those in Harrogate. In a way, it is suffocating here, and I miss the feeling of peace and contentment when at home. During winter season, it would snow fervently. My yard also consisted of a rather giant slope. Due to many hills and back roads that would get black ice very easily, school was called off frequently. My friends and I......

Hometown Deli

...analyze the Hometown Deli using the “Five Forces Model” to evaluate the business prior to making strategic improvement recommendations. Michael Porter provided a framework that models an industry as being influenced by five forces. The strategic business manager seeking to develop an edge over rival firms can use this model to better understand the industry context in which the business operates (Baltzan, 2012). Buyer Power Buyer Power is simply the ability that buyers have to affect price of a given item. The framework that affects buyer power can be bargaining leverage, price sensitivity, product differentiation, buyer incentives, buyer volume, substitute products available, buyer information, and brand identification (Teisberg, 2006). The major buyer factors that affect the Hometown Deli are within the marketing area. The deli exists within a small town with few buyers and no large volume of purchases from neighborhood businesses. There are no incentives to patronize the deli or reminders that the business exists. Substitute products are readily available from other potential sandwich shops. The Deli does not have a product that distinguishes it from its competitors. Hometown deli products are not important to the town’s buyers and they can do without making any purchases. To improve customer knowledge and provide incentives to return; I would prepare a grand re-opening and marketing kick- off campaign, with all the bell and whistles. The Hometown Deli......

Hometown Deli Stage 1

...Case Study: The Hometown Deli- Stage 1 I am proud to now be the sole decision maker and owner of my family’s deli, The Hometown Deli, which has been in my family since 1952. I feel honored and I am so happy that I have been given the chance to better the business and bring it into the 21st century. I need to be careful in doing so since I have never had such responsibilities before. Not only am I now faced with the challenges of learning the ropes of the business, but the new rumor about the Wall Street Deli that is possibly opening up just down the street. It isn’t just a scary thought because I have so much work already to do, but it’s scary in the fact that since we opened our doors in 1952, we have not had one single competitor. It is my job to reassure my employees and loyal customers that The Hometown Deli will sustain the new changes and be better than ever. I need to put my plans and changes into overdrive mode to get them in effect and get the business going before this potential competitor moves into the neighborhood. The first plan of action involves performing a Porter’s Five Forces Analysis of the Deli. Porter’s Five Forces model is a very valuable tool in aiding businesses that are facing tough decisions of entering a new industry or industry segment. The purpose of Porter’s model is to define the overall appeal that the business has to its consumers. Porter’s Five Forces include: Buyer Power, Supplier Power, Threat of Substitute products or services,......
