My Angel

July 13, 2012 was the day Angel Alberto Reynoso was born, this was one of the best days of my life because, and being able to look into those beautiful little round brown eyes was a memory that will last a life time. My husband and I had been trying to have a baby for two years, and almost just gave up. There are many things before we found out we were going to have Angel. It did not feel good getting the worst news at suck a young age. Angel is the best and most wonderful human being that I can ever know. Many mothers say that the best day of they’re life was when they had their child, I say the best day of my life was finding out I was pregnant. There were many complications up until the day I found out I was pregnant. About five months before I got pregnant I went in to the doctor’s office to get some answers of why I was not getting pregnant. I was not on birth control for about a year and we were having unprotected sex to get pregnant. I remember the doctor asking me the dreading question “how is your sex life?” I could tell he was new to the field with his uncomfortable break on his voice. So I decided to just go for it and be honest and break the ice and said “we have a lot of sex, more than ever, in the morning, for my lunch break, when I got off, and before we went to sleep” He looked at me and his eyes open so wide, I almost thought his eyes were going to come out of there sockets like a cartoon character watching a bomb about to blow up in their hands. He told me he was going to do some test and give me an ultra sound of my ovaries. About three months went by and I got a call from the nurse saying the doctor needed to speak to me. He told me I had PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). He said they needed to run more test and one of them consisted of them injecting a large needle into my stomach with dye and getting an MRI. This would have flushed everything clogging my ovaries out. I went home and asked my husband “what should I do”. We then agreed that it might just be best to wait and try this later and just focus on our goals and school. A few months went by and I got very sick and decided to just take a pregnancy test. When we saw that big plus sign we were so happy and in shock. We were so happy that finally our wish came true.

The whole pregnancy I did everything to take care of this little one. I ate so much, I felt he was in my stomach just eating everything and not leaving anything for me. When I found out he was a boy we knew what his name would be. My dad’s name was Miguel Angel and my husband’s fathers name was Angelo, and giving the circumstances and everything we went thru we knew that Angel Alberto was the most perfect name for our son. We went thru so much and there he was just cooking like cake in my belly, just ready to come to this world. Then on July 13th 2012 at 10pm on the dot he was born seven pounds three ounces, 21 and a quarter inches of healthy little boy. He was crying when he came out and they put him on my chest and he looked at me with his small black eyes, and I broke down. I cried so hard he was bouncing off my chest and he quiet down slowly, “hello Angel I’m so happy you’re here” I cried. He was perfect from his little hands and feet, to his charcoal black eyes, his small button nose, his perfect small puckered lips, and his hairy body. So hairy he almost looked like a baby monkey. My son is now ten months and is the biggest fatty in the world. He will eat anything you let him eat. He likes all the weird Gerber’s that other babies refuse to eat. He grunt when there is no more food and yells when he sees us eating. He has been smiling since the day he was born and is the cutest smile in the world. It is big and gummy, with no teeth in his mouth he looks like an old man smiling we call it “his grandpa grin”. He has the most interesting personality in the world. He cries if you say “ouch that hurts”. He looks at you and will just rub your face and talk it his gibber gabber and look as though you should understand him. Angel is the most interesting human being I have ever known.
The day my son was born was the day my life truly had meaning. I could not have asked for a better gift in this world. I got the worst news a woman could get and overcame those odds. His character shows me there he will be a great man. My son is the best person in this world to me and my husband. I am looking forward to all his advancements, and cannot wait to see what kind of person he becomes. Having my Angel was one of the best days of my life and the fact that we went thru so much made it even more of a blessing for us.…...

Angel

...English 140-01 Nicholas 10 October 2012 Angel As I slide another book onto the shelf, I am drawn back to that night….. The old oaks lining the street created a perfect canopy over the sleeping neighborhood of neat and tiny cottage homes. The branches seemed to be expertly woven together. The moon was full and fat but only small slivers of light slipped through the leaves. I stood as motionless as a statue on the corner, watching and listening for any other signs of life. The night air was so crisp and my senses so predatorily heightened that I felt sure I would be able to detect even the softest scent of another’s presence. I was alone and undetected, my natural state. I began to silently saunter down the little lane. I nonchalantly inspected the houses as I went, until I came upon the one that drew me in with that magnetic pull I had come to know and love so well. That feeling meant that that peace would soon be restored to my aching, raging mind. I knew that other voice inside of me would be silenced once I had carried out its orders once again. I cautiously crept around to the back of the home and immediately took note of the swing set in the yard. A small smile turned the corner of my lips up ever so slightly. This was the place. I looked across the back of the house, and couldn’t believe my good luck. No, not luck, destiny it must have been. Some force out there in the universe was as intent as I that my task be completed. At the corner......

Angels

...Angels Among Us Melissa Sheeley ENG 125 Andrea Moak March 21, 2011 As the song from the band Alabama goes, “I believe there are angels among us, sent down to us from somewhere up above, they come to you and me in our darkest hours to show us how to live, to teach us how to give, to guide us with the light of love (Lyrics Mode, 2011).” I think the poem Grief Calls Us to the Things of this World (Clugston, 2010) written by Sherman Alexie has a lot in common with Alabama’s song I Believe There are Angels Among Us. The paper you are about to read is going to describe how they relate to each other and analyze the poem as to whether after someone passes if they are still around us. The song sung by Alabama tells of a boy walking home and gets lost in the dark in the woods as he takes a short cut home. A man takes him by the hand and helps him home safely. The boy’s mom does not see the man standing next to her son as he stands on the front steps holding hands with her son. The boy figures an angel has come down from Heaven and helped him get home safely. The song goes on to say how even in our darkest hours there is someone there telling us it is going to be okay and will get us through. The theme of the poem written by Sherman Alexie is that of a reminder of his dad not being around anymore physically but spiritually, he writes of a man going to a hotel room and finding a phone next to the toilet in the bathroom....

My Guardian Angel

...create memories, and to reminisce about all the times they had. It was always my wish to have both Mommy and Daddy in my life, but my story is different. At the age of seventeen my mother gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and named her Niah Dominique Cummings. Growing up, I knew for a fact that I had my mother in my life, but I hardly ever saw my father. I came to my senses that there was no father. My mother finally filled me in and told me that my father had moved to Atlanta, Georgia two days after I was born. Which basically meant he was not there the day I was born. It was heartbreaking to hear, but I had to face it. I didn't know what it felt like to have that father figure in my life. To have Daddy tuck me in at night, telling me every day how beautiful I was, to give me kisses on the cheek or forehead, to drop me off at school every morning, or to even tell me that I was his little princess. All I had was my mother, who had struggled since she was sixteen years old. The year before I was born my mother gave birth to a handsome, talented, intelligent, and smart young man. She named him Kazre Lamont Cummings. He is my older brother and is now seventeen years old. The year after I was born, she had another boy who was given the name Darnell Taylor Robert Jr., following after his father. At a young age my mother had to take on the full responsibility of two children, with nobody to help her but my Aunt Edith. She had no support at all from her closest friends, or......

Angels

...James Coates Mrs. Kopcak English May 10, 2006 Angels Angels were a major part of ancient civilizations, but how did the whole myth about angels start and has it changed over the years? How does the past compare to today’s world? Are there different classes of angels? What are their jobs, what do their jobs have them doing? The word 'angel' comes from the Greek angelos, which itself could be considered as a translation of the Hebrew word mal'akh, meaning 'messenger', suggesting that a being responsible for carrying messages between the human world and some other realm or realms of existence, someone who is an intermediary between 'down here' and 'up there'. The origins of angels, started back in ancient Sumeria. The Sumerian society is the oldest society that has left us clear evidence of the use of a winged human motif. This evidence is in the form of stone carvings, either in the form of three-D statues or relief carvings that provide the illusion of three-dimensionality. The religion of these people was complex, embracing a wide variety of spirits and gods, but of particular interest was their belief in 'messengers of the gods', angelic forces who ran errands between gods and humans. The Sumerians also believed that each person had a 'ghost' of some sort (what we would now probably label as 'guardian angel') with this entity remaining a constant companion for a person throughout their life. After the polytheistic Semitic tribes had conquered the Sumerians around 1900...

...suddenly go off. See we have barely touched the fringe of what God wants. When I saw the benefits of praying in tongues for 8 hours, it stirred my desire to see what happens if you go further. That was when I went for 2 days without sleep and for 48 hours I just went on in tongues. And you would have to have a big jar of water. You will get pretty thirsty in the natural. But at the end of those 48 hours something snapped. It was like a veil was opened. It was like moving back into the Garden of Eden where if God comes you see God. You look out into the sky you could actually see where the thrones of the demons are. And you could actually see angels flying up and down. It was like living in an open vision. But it slowly began to fade and I realized it has to be maintained. There is a certain realm that is there. Words Are Pictures In The Spirit World One characteristic of the spirit realm is that every word is a picture. Part of the observations is that while in that realm whatever words that is spoken form an object. And after that the Lord began to show me what heaven is like. See what I was experiencing is what heaven was like. Like when I said the word chair, a chair would appear. Literally in the spirit you see a chair being formed in front of you. It is like in heaven you ask God, "I would like extra rooms to my mansion." In an instant it is there. I back this up with scripture. When in Gen. 1 God said let there be light. Instantly it came. Some......

In this essay there is an analysis and interpret the short story´s composition, supernatural elements, theme and the relationship between Annie and her father. The composition in the short story contains flashbacks because it jumps back and forth in time. In the short story there are some streams of consciousness, and that is why the chronological order has been unregulated. There is harmony between the start and the end. The use of flashbacks has an effect - it gives a full picture of the theme to understand the main character and her problems dealing with her father’s dead. It is a common element for a short story to have flashbacks. “The first time I saw my father after he died, I was in the shower, hair plastered with conditioner, when the water stuttered and turned cold. He was at the sink in front of the misted-up mirror with the tap running, his back to me. It was two weeks after his funeral. His things were all where he’d left them. ” This is the first flash back in time in the short story...

No Angel

...No Angel The short story No Angel is written by the Bernie McGill in 2010. She is an author who lives in Northern Ireland, where the story also takes place. It is from the anthrology The Best British Short Stories 2011. The story is about grief, loneliness and how to recover from a death of a loved one. People got different ways to move on, but no matter what, it is terribly painful to lose a loved one, because you suddenly are alone. On the one hand you recover by trying to forget about the pain the loss has brought, but on the other hand you want to remember the one who passed away, because of the fear of loneliness and because the death is hard to accept. Others don’t want to accept the fact that they’re gone and will never be here again, and thereby they find a rather special way to keep the memory of the lost person. They create the lost one(s) inside their head, and pretending they see the dead(s) as ghosts or angels. This makes them able to talk to them and get advices from their beloved, even though they are no longer here. This is the way our main character of No Angel is using to handle her sorrows of her family’s death. The main characters name is Annie. You get to know it when the father says “Have you forgotten what they did to your brother, Annie?...”(p. 3, l. 63). Annie has lost her brother and both of her parents and deals with being left on her own without them to support, guide and, most of all, love her. She still sees them after they’re dead as......

My Three Angels

...The plot of My Three Angels follows the Ducotel family and their general store that is in extreme debt during Christmas 1910, in the French Guiana. Coming from Paris, their evil-minded cousin, Henri Trochard, is planning to shut down the business and marry off his cold-hearted nephew, Paul; who the Ducotel’s daughter, Marie Louise is madly in love with. In desperate times the shops roof is in need of major repair so Felix Ducotel hires three convicts to fix it. These convicts overhear the problems of the family and plan to take matters into their own hands to assist them. Do the ends justify the means? This question exemplifies what the theme of the production is, it refers to the concept that it doesn’t matter how an idea is achieved but as long as you get the desired result it is a success. The three convicts murdered the cousin, just so he wouldn’t close the general store down; they also murdered the nephew because he was going to expose them to the police after finding out that they murdered his uncle. It didn’t matter how they did it, the convicts just had to get rid of the cousin and nephew no matter what the costs. The characters within this production are witty, ebullient and entertaining. The three convicts, played by Austin Blackburn, Trevor Miles and Emanuel Clark, gave each role their own personal touch. Austin Blackburn playing Joseph, shows the audience that he is content even though he strangled his wife. Trevor Miles, playing Jules, was an accountant before...

Angel on My Shoulder

...2015 The Angel on My Shoulder My grandmother was a truly amazing person. She was compassionate, a great cook and the most loving person I know, and without any ego at all. In other words, exactly like me! Seriously, though, we have a lot in common. Among other things, I inherited her ugly feet, her love of lilies and her obsession with books. She preferred mystery novels and gospel music. While I shared her love of mystery novels I wasn’t fond of the gospel music. I remember having a sleepover at her house, which happened often when I was young, and waking up to the smell of pancakes and bacon. I looked forward to breakfast with my Gram, we would sit at the table, eat and listen to her gospel music. I may not have been fond of her music, I was a young teen after all, but that time with her on those mornings meant the world to me. The difference in music we had was only skin-deep That reminds me of one small difference between us: she was an amazing cook, while I still have trouble boiling noodles. Salmon cakes, pasta, and chocolate peanut butter no bake cookies were a few of my favorites. Everything she made was all so good. You could walk into her house and pass out from the smells alone. It makes me hungry just thinking about it. As we both grew older, we grew even closer. When my mom and I would fight, which happened many times, she always took my side, even when I was clearly in the wrong. She defended and protected me. I could count on my......

No Angel

...We all have different ways to deal with grief, longing and loneliness. In this essay I am going to analyze and interpret the short story “No Angel” by Bernie McGill from 2010. It’s a story writ-ten with a very unique spoken language and with an unusual composition, which I will de-scribe even further later in this essay. Additionally, I will make a characterization of the per-sons, get around the use of supernatural elements and in the end explain how I have inter-preted the short story. The story is written in a 1st person narrator, who is Annie – the main character. The spoken language is unique because the story takes place in contemporary Northern Ireland, and the writer has chosen to show the Irish dialect in the spoken language. The language, especially when the father speaks, contains a lot of slang and unusual ways to pronounce the words. An example of this, appears in this quotation: ““What’s that oul’ shite you’re listening to?” he said, and near put me off the road. A twitter of a laugh: “That would deave you,” and his arm reached out, and turned down the dial.” (Page 5, line 133-135). The fact that the short story is written from the narrative’s perspective, gives the reader an opportunity to feel like he is inside An-nie’s head. Her narrative language is not very formal; as an example she calls her father “Dad-dy”. The story begins in medias res, because the reader is thrown directly into the action when Annie sees her dead father for the first time in the...

No Angel

...No Angel When you lose some of your beloved, it can be awfully difficult to move on with your own life. If they were a part of your everyday life, it's not abnormal to feel like something is missing, and a feeling like this can cause a confused mind. Some people move on like nothing has happened when a family member dies, but others don't know how to keep thinking straight. At times it can be dreadfully painful to think about dead people you used to love, and some people even envision the dead standing in front of them and think that they are actually able to have a conversation with them. "No Angel" is a short story written by Bernie McGill in 2011. The theme of the story is "the loss of beloved family members", and it shows an interesting example of a persons' life and thoughts after this person loses her nearest family members. "No Angel" is briefly about Annie, who is the protagonist of the story. Annie tries to live a normal and stereotypical life after her brother, mother and father pass away, but her father continuously appears in front of her after his death, and this makes it hard for Annie to live a normal life. Annie tells about her father's appearances through flashbacks. The plot of the story takes place in the 2000's, and is told by a first person narrator, Annie. The plot is written in chronological order, but there occur several flashback throughout the entire story. The story is set in in Northern Ireland, where McGill was born, and the environment there...

No Angel

...No Angel By Bernie McGill Death is inevitable and death is a natural part of human life. At some point in our lives, we have or will experience losing an acquaintance. To loose someone you love can be difficult to overcome. The question is how we handle the loss of a loved one. In the short story, “No Angel” Bernie McGill tells about how a woman handle her grief after she has lost her whole family. As written previously, a woman loses her family tragically. The first family member she loses is her seven teen year old little brother, Robbie. He was murdered on a cold December night. After short six months, she loses her mother, who could not bear the grief of losing her only son. The only person, who is left in the woman’s life for now, is her father. Twenty-two years past the death of her mother, her father also passed away, because his lungs did not work anymore. The woman is now going through a very difficult time. The loss of her family, make her create her own vision of her dead family, so she can talk to them. The short story is told in first person narrative, where the narrator is our character. The point of view are limited because we do not hear the name of the woman, but we hear her inner and outer thoughts. Among other things, the short story says that the woman has a good lecturing job. We hear that she is attentive soft spoken and afraid of darkness. The composition is not chronological because there are flashback and flash forward. The story starts...
