Employee Portfolio - Motivation Action Plan

...Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan MGT/311 June 30, 2013 Abstract Motivation is the process that determines how hard an individual works to achieve a goal. There are several modern theories of motivation that will help managers meet the motivational needs of their employees. Using the most appropriate theory of motivation will ensure that the motivational strategy and action plan selected will be effective and achieve the desired results. Keeping employees motivated will help the organization run smoothly and efficiently. Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan Of the several modern motivational theories that are currently used, three have been selected to create a motivational action plan for the Riordan employees. Each plan is designed to help motivate the individual employee and keep them functioning at their highest level of quality. The motivational theory that has been selected for Jami is the self-determination theory. This theory is based on the belief that people need or want to control their own actions. The motivational action plan follows this theory by giving Jami some decision-making power. The action plan also offers verbal acknowledgment of the work that she performs. These actions will help keep Jami motivated and encourage her to strive for greater success. The motivational theory that best fits with the personality characteristics of Breana is the goal-setting theory. This theory focuses on the belief that by giving an......

Motivation Plan

...Motivation Plan Motivation Plan It takes a good deal of discontentment in a team for a leader to have to make a motivational plan. For any adjustment to occur correctly, the leader must identify a varying set of unique characteristics for each member of his or her team to assist in establishing cohesive relationships within that team. According to Woodward (2011, March 7), “Building and cultivating relationships is an integral part of any career strategy” (para. 1). The leader must understand the organizational culture and each team member’s attitudes, emotions, personality, behavior, and values before implementing the changes for the new motivational plan. Organizational Culture When identifying the culture of the organization, Robbins and Judge (2013) stated, “Organizational culture refers to a system of shared meaning held by members that distinguishes the organization from other organizations” (p. 512). At each of level, division, department, and team, the cultural identification philosophy is also used. A leader can treat the culture as the personality of the organizational and align his or her management style to that personality. Mentor identified the organizational culture as fun and inviting with a high level of required results (personal communication, June 6, 2013); Palmira (2013) classifies this as a “Work Hard/Play Hard Culture” (para. 12). The personality is one of fun, humor, and dedication to the customer. When viewing the culture as a personality,......

...Motivation Action Plan David Evinrude MGT 311 March 3, 2014 John Clair Motivation Action Plan Employees are a critical element to the successful operation of a business and building customer satisfaction in the field. Understanding an employee's behavioral characteristics helps management understand the strengths and weaknesses of an employee while providing them with valuable information to help them develop a strategy to keep them motivated. The motivational strategy that a manager develops for each individual employee could either make or break the organization when it comes to the customer or job satisfaction. After reviewing the employee's assessments and management performance, similarities were discovered between each employee. Each employee seemed to have middle to higher emotional intelligence and were pretty involved in their current positions. A couple of the employee's seemed to become bored with tasks and would lose their focus when it came to tasks that need to be completed while the other employee was focused with the tasks at hand. Upon reviewing each employee's portfolio, it seems each person required the same type of action plan to keep them motivated. In developing the motivational action plan, each employee had a common area that would help keep them motivated. The goal setting approach was identified as a key motivational strategy for each employee. Goal setting provides each person with a defined set of goals that need to be completed......

...Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan Bonnie Lorence MGT/311: Organizational Development January 16, 2012 Dennis Hoerr After careful review of the self-assessments administered to three of Riordan’s employees, the following motivation action plan details the strategies suggested for each employee based on individual characteristics in an attempt to maintain or increase his or her levels of motivation. In regard to employee Brian Tumbarello, Riordan chose a motivational strategy and action plan conducive to the self-determination theory, “which proposes that people prefer to feel they have control over their actions, so anything that makes a previously enjoyed task feel more like an obligation than a freely chosen activity will undermine motivation” (Robbins & Judge, 2011, p. 211). Because Brian is definitely satisfied in his position, the need to increase his wage at this time is not necessary. Positive plans for motivational strategy should focus on maintaining his interest while allowing him additional freedom to make decisions. Supporting both his growth and development within the organization may allow Brian to advance into a management position if he desires. Although Linda’s performance rating appears to be low, she does possess skills and knowledge beneficial to the company. Motivational strategies suggested for her......
