...WEEK 1 This would be the first week of university after a month long break with peak winter and when it came down to the selection of subjects, I straight away took the leadership management coursework thinking of nothing more then what dad has always told me as a kid, “Kalyan, being a leader doesn’t mean you have to be ahead of people and lead them alone, it means that you have to lead them in a way that the people think about you as a leader as long as they are alive. Legacy, Kalyan is the quality which determines the leaders in people. When you do something for the people in your walk of life, do it in an exceptional way that they will not forget what you have done for them and at the same time do not expect anything from them.” These words were very inspiring for me as a kid and these are the words followed by hundreds and thousands of students over 40 years of experience from a teacher whose values and principles are very particular. I’ve seen him change and mould the careers of many kids over the years with this inspiration and build an empire for himself with this burning desire for leaving a legacy behind. I’ve never understood the value of anything when I was a teenager, the reason was my dad, he was behind me without me noticing him. He was my shadow, my strength and the greatest support I have in my life. When this class of leadership had started and in the very first week of the class when the professor started asking the class about the different leaders and......

The paper aims to spot key reasons behind the declining performance the company experienced in the late 1990s a few years after the start of its globalization plan in the year 1987. The plan initiated under the new leadership of David Whitwam encountered many problems in its early stages illustrated in a declining profitability in its home market, losses in the European market and failure in some of its joint ventures in the Asian market.1 With such poor performance and failure in achieving competitive edges in global markets, Whirlpool was at a great risk of losing huge investments made in foreign markets, and losing highly-potential market shares in emerging international markets to aggressive competitors. The paper illustrates core strategic mistakes around three main strategies; sourcing and operations, entry, and marketing strategies adopted. The goal is to address lessons learned from Whirlpool’s experience in globalization in order to shed...

...managers with respect to culture, business ethics, and leadership. Culture Globalization has caused cultural diversity to become a fact of organizational life. In order for businesses to succeed, cultural diversity has to be taken into consideration when formulating business plans and strategies. Managers have also had to develop cross-cultural management skills, which are necessary to be able to manage employees and interact with clients of different cultural backgrounds (Saee 2005). “Cross-cultural management relies on understanding the cultural behavior and differences of people working in organizations that operate internationally and making them perform with him or her and together” (Saee, p. 27). Without this understanding of cultural differences, it would be very frustrating for managers to understand why business isn’t going as well in an environment that has a different culture than the businesses original environment. Managers must be willing to change their businesses in order to adapt to the preferences of the area that they are doing business in. In Van Hove’s article, Successfful Global S&OP: Leadership, Change Management, Behavior, and Cross-Cultural Differences, he states that, “once a company starts crossing national borders, other complexities enter the sales and operations planning equation. Cultural issues become even more significant; people in one geographic area prefer their culture to others. There is no right or wrong national culture, but......

...Student Name: Nina Brown Journal Topic: “Pregnant at 10 and abortion’s not an option” Source: BBC News Link: http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34195973 5 W’s and H: Who (is involved)?: Young Girls in Paraguay What (is this journal/event about)?: This article discusses young girls getting pregnant in Paraguay and they don’t have the option to abort. Where?: Paraguay When?: 10 September 2015 This article was very disconcerting; learning that there are over 700 pregnancies in children 14 years old or younger in Paraguay. Even this number may not be accurate as some families do not report such abuses in fear that something bad will happen to them. This is a problem that can and probably happens in the United States however, in the United States they have the option to terminate their pregnancies or put them up for adoption. While I was reading the opening lines, I was thinking why are there so many for a smaller population? Perla is one of many girls who pursued help at Casa Rosa Maria as she was sexually abused by her brother when she was 10 and gave birth at 11. Many of the other girls also become pregnant due to sexual abuse. It is alarming to me that many of the men don’t believe that they did nothing wrong. I do have strong belief’s that if a child is harmed in anyway, they should be punished to the full extent. However, in Paraguay many offenders get released within a few months. If it wasn’t for Casa Rosa Maria which is a Catholic Church, Perla wouldn’t......

They are all in reference to International Business Theory such as trade, international investment, financial markets, legal or political systems and international regulatory bodies and relationships. The main point behind this project is to show the connection between the greater global economy and the individual economies that operate within it. The world today is a place where barriers are constantly being broken down, trade and regional agreements are becoming a must, and where countries and organisations really have to think about the greater consequences of their own actions. During class discussion, as a group we have learnt how vital it is to know not only the international identification of a country but its characteristics when operating on an international basis. Such characteristics include countries......
