LOCAL BRAND A brand that is sold and marketed distributed and promoted in a relatively small and restricted geographical area. A local brand is a brand that can be found in only one country or region. It may also be a brand that is developed for a specific national market. Branding In recent years there has been an eruption of new brands entering the market every day. It seems obvious that branding is a critical part of marketing. Companies must compete to secure a fragment of their consumers mind before another competitor does. Brands convey information to their customers, in particular, quality, company production, and owner ship. For example, when Acer places its name on a laptop, monitor, or tablet it is expressing its ownership of the product and its pride in developing it (Iacobucci, 2012). For the company, brands develop fidelity, assist in segmentation, positioning, and targeting. Green Clean Incorporated (GCI) has developed a logo that they hope will become familiar to everyone around the world in time. It both serves to identify itself but also conveys the purpose of its mission and its products. The logo and color will engage the customers both verbally and......

Harold Pinter

...Harold Pinter - Mountain Language Harold Pinter was born on the 10th of October in 1930 in Hackney, East London. Harold was a versatile performer, contributing to plays on and off the stage as a: playwright, screenwriter, actor, theater director and even dabbling in a bit of poetry. Harold has been credited as being one of the most influential modern British dramatists. His writing career spanned more than 50 years and he won many notable awards for his writing. Some of Harold's best plays have been adapted by Harold himself for the screen, such plays include The birthday party (1957), The Homecoming (1964) and Betrayal. A review from an online critic says: 'Overall, The Birthday Party is both extremely conventional and entirely unique. Most of its elements are easy to recognize and understand, but the relationships between those elements is slippery and difficult to pinpoint'. Another review simply says :'The truth lies in the silence, not in the words characters use'. This directs me to believe that Pinter puts limitations on communication to focus more on the visual aspect of the play. I think the best way to understand the play is to know about the famous “Pinter pause”. Another quote says: 'Even a little scan of the play will reveal how precisely Pinter uses silence and pauses in telling his story. While it is perhaps not accurate to interpret this silence as deliberately designed to communicate an idea, it certainly does create a general unease, a......

The Stone Boy - English Essay Assignment

...The Stone Boy Tragedy is something that any human has to face in life. During these moments of intense emotion, humans come together in unity, to cope with whatever distress they face. But what happens if one human is left out of the flock, to attend himself when tragedy hits? The text revolves around this theme of neglect, and how a person can become afraid and want to alienate oneself from the ones who should be close to them, if they aren’t cared for when tragedy occurs. The setting of the story “The Stone Boy” by Gina Berriault is on a farm in the countryside, the place is isolated, which fits into the theme as a symbol for alienation. Arnold lives here with his parents, older brother Eugene and older sister Nora. One day Arnold accidentally shoots and kills Eugene when his rifle gets jammed in a fence wire. Instead of going back to his family straight away, he goes picking peas for an hour. After he has told his parents what happened, he isolates himself in a barn before he’s taken to the police by his dad and uncle. Because he doesn’t run straight back home after the accident, the Sheriff speculates him being a sociopath, which his uncle takes note of. He is overlooked by his family, and rejected when he tries to talk with his mother one the night. It all ends with him leaving the house to retrieve a newborn calf. The narrator being 3rd person and bound to Arnolds’ point of view is significant in the regard that it tells us how he feels, and what his thoughts......

Harold & Maude Film Analysis

...Hal Ashby’s Harold and Maude is a cult classic from the 1970’s. Harold and Maude is a romantic comedy that centers around a young boy, Harold Chasen, an elderly woman, Maude and their odd relationship. Harold has this unusual obsession with death, and Ashby demonstrates his fascination through the comedic twist between Harold’s mother and Harold. However even Maude is also fascinated in death. She lives her life to the fullest attending funerals where Harold also goes simply because they enjoy “death”. Throughout the movie, Maude influences Harold and changes his perspective about death and the two of them eventually evolve into a romantic relationship. Ashby begins the film introducing Harold Chasen, with a close up tracking his feet, not allowing the viewers to see his face, until two minutes in the film, however even then, his face is hard to make out because the only source of light comes from the window. The moment we do see his face, Ashby reveals the relationship between him and his mother. From the moment we meet Harold, it is obvious that he is anything but joyful. He is pale, dead looking, wearing fancy suits and ties black, grey and brown. Black being a color of grief helps to show his obsession with death has him looking like death. Ashby takes the audience along with Harold to one of his favorite spots, a cemetery. Here we are introduced with a vibrant, old woman named Maude. They come into contact at a funeral and we notice their distinctive personalities.......

Branding

...Branding Yourself Brenda Varnum Kaplan University MT330 International Marketing June 7, 2011 Branding Yourself My personal international experience has not been on the marketing side, it was retail. I traveled to several countries purchasing products for my retail stores. Over the years I brought back wedding attire, formal cocktail dresses and upscale ladies silk apparel from Hong Kong and Singapore. When I was on vacation in Alaska, I brought back jewelry to sell in my boutique. Some of the items would sell here in the States at a 400-500% markup. In my past experience in retail and now in the financial industry, I have discovered that to make a business grow you first have to sell yourself. It was not called branding then, but the concept existed. It keeps regular customers and clients coming back and it is a known fact that these people are your greatest referral source. In order to succeed in becoming a respected international marketing consultant, you must “brand” yourself. What this means is you had to be confident in your abilities and you have to show that you stand out among all the others. “The main outcome of personal branding should be a clear, deep, and profound understanding of who you are and what you want to be known for” (Brand You, 2004). In today’s growing job market most candidates possess the skills to do a particular job, however it is being able to incorporate the “soft skills” that will put you in the lead...
