Abstract
Marketers never stop in their attempts to understand consumer behaviors. A challenge faced by all marketers is how to influence the purchase behavior of consumers in favor of the product or service they offer (Belch & Belch, 2009). Consumer behavior can be defined as the process and activities people engage in when searching for, selecting, purchasing, using, evaluating and disposing of products and services so as to satisfy their needs and desires (Belch & Belch, 2009). In this paper we will try to understand consumer behavior which is an integral part to product sales. Also, determine what customer groups are likely to purchase the products that have been selected.
1. Briefly describe the two (2) advertisements you selected. Ensure you include the chapter(s) in which the advertisements are found in the textbook. The first advertisement that was selected was the VO5 Styling Gel. This advertisement was found in chapter 4 on page 119 of the Advertising and Promotion text book (Belch & Belch, 2009). This advertisement is a bold advertisement that really catches the eye of the consumer because of its loud colors and dark bold text. The advertisement is printed in only two colors red and black and set on a white background. The advertisement has a girl pointing at the consumer with the text in big black letters “Now you have the power!” The advertisement is promoting a styling gel that comes in different forms and is primarily focused on the color red.
The second advertisement that was selected found in chapter 4 on page 124 of the Advertising and Promotion text book (Belch & Belch, 2009). This advertisement was for Michelin tires. This one was pretty interesting as it used the company’s mascot show a cartoon version of the plump tire-man saving a group of cute furry animals. This advertisement illustrates a car driving in the woods on a dark stormy day…...
