Their roles are primarily implementing different strategies to accomplish the same goal under the Merchandising category. They will all report to Richard Chene.
-------------------------------------------------
The objective behind this strategic planning was to deliver a detailed plan that evaluated all aspects of Big Lots current operations including their leadership hierarchy make it organized by assigning a specific leadership role for each category. Big Lots has already implemented their plan for the next three years “and shared stories of stores past that were driven more by finding cheap deals than assembling a logical assortment of goods”(Eaton,2014). By implementing the three categories they are hopeful to organize and improve each department with consistent product type and availability.

He is well known in the vendor community in many of our merchandising categories, including a multitude of home-related products used in the kitchen, food preparation, tabletop, housewares, and home textiles along with food, consumables, and pet-related products. He is a lifelong merchant with command and a track record of getting results” (Gross, 2013).
-------------------------------------------------
Trey Johnson as a General Merchandising Manager shall remain the same. He will continue to bring Big Lots, improvement in the areas of the Foods and Consumables based on his previous experience in the same area with Family Dollar Corporation, Sears Holding Corporation, Walmart Inc., and SuperValu Inc. Martha Withers-Hall, will also provide improvements in the areas of Furniture and Home using her experience with Stage Stores Inc., Stein Mart, and May Department Stores. Lucy Cindric has industry experience with Stage Stores Inc., Walmart Inc., May Company Department Stores, Foley's, and Dayton Hudson Corporation. The definition of symbiotic according to Webster’s Dictionary: “A symbiotic relationship is a relationship between two entities which is mutually beneficial for the participants of the relationship. ...Classical/Scientific management 1 - Classical management theory stipulates that organizations are closed systems that are static and never changing and are unaffected by the outside world. It is concerned with the management of tasks rather than the organization. 2 – Organizations are rational entities where employees work to achieve a common objective. Follow a horizontal structure. Employees do not have monopoly over the tasks knowledge and know how. They are told what to do when to do it and how to do it. 3 - Employees only motivation is to earn money. They tend to use their skills as a bargaining chip for a better wage. For this reasons organizations design jobs in a way to reduce skill levels and minimize employee discretion over activities as well as increase levels of management control. Frederic Taylor incorporated the following ideas in his management theory. 1 – Create work standards and procedures to enhance productivity. 2 – Remove workers discretion and control over their activities. 3 – A systematic collection of knowledge about work processes by managers. A good contemporary example of a scientific management is the fast food chains such as mc donalds or burger king. McDonaldisation is the process where all communicative interactions and personalized relations are replaced by bureaucratized service delivery techniques. Administrative Management. Administrative management was developed by Henri Fayol. It is concerned with the management of the......
