An evaluation was performed for Ashley France. This evaluation is divided into three different sections. In the first section, Ashley was evaluated on her personality attributes. The second section she was evaluated on the behaviors (the good, the bad, and the ugly) that she engaged in. Finally, she was evaluated on her attitude.
The first section of the evaluation is for personal attributes. Ashley has demonstrated several attributes during the evaluation period. Ashley is a very conscientious person. She has always been dependable and hardworking. Ashley is an honest individual. Being honest is an attribute that all employees should demonstrate no matter what the consequences are. She is also a very caring individual. She is always willing to extend a helping hand to others when they need one. She would even take time out of her day to make sure that they understand. Another attribute that Ashley possesses is she is self-taught. Many times Ashley was given a task, with very little instructions, and was able to complete the task in a timely manner. She is a very fast learner. She only needs to be taught something one time, and she picks right up on the material.
The second section of the evaluation is the behaviors that Ashley demonstrated during the evaluation period. Ashley is very accountable. She accepts responsibility for her own actions and decisions and demonstrates commitment to accomplish work in an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective manner. She managed her time effectively to meet deadlines and achieved all goals she set for herself at the beginning of the period. Ashley is team focused. She works cooperatively with others to achieve the goals of the team as a whole. For example, when Ashley would complete all of her work, she would always lend a helping hand to other to make sure that all team deadlines were going to be met on time. She also made sure that everyone on her team knew what they were doing, and if they did not, she was there to explain things in an understandable way. She was always willing to express confidence in her fellow co-workers when they were presented with a difficult task. Ashley is a very polite individual. She always treats each co-worker with the same way she would want to be treated. One behavior that Ashley does not embody is communication. When it comes to being the one who has to communicate bad news to someone that will cause conflict, Ashley is not your person. She avoids conflict at all costs. Another behavior that Ashley demonstrates is that she is a procrastinator. Even though she has never missed a deadline, she waits to the last minute to complete a task. She does not utilize her time well. She spends time that should be used for work, and spends it on Facebook or reading emails.
The final section of the evaluation is to assess Ashley’s attitude. Overall, Ashley is a very positive, upbeat person. She uses her positive attitude to encourage and motivate her co-workers. An example of this was when one of her co-workers was having a difficult time completing a task that was assigned to him. She assured him that he could not only complete the task, but could complete it efficiently. Her positive attitude helped to change the thinking of her co-worker and gave him the motivation to keep pushing forward and complete the assignment. Ashley’s attitude is very contagious. A positive attitude like hers in the workplace not only makes for a better work environment it also helps the team as a whole achieve their goals and attain success.

...Joe Salatino, President of Great Northern American Case Study Mikie Epps Professor Christopher Haseer Assignment 2 BUS 520 6 May 2012 Joe Salatino, President of Great Northern American Case Study Introduction This paper will discuss why Joe’s employees need to understand the importance of how people form perceptions and make attributions. It will also evaluate which learning theory would be most appropriate for Joe to apply in his situation and explain why. A discussion on the way Joe could apply the learning theory that was previous selected to improve employees’ performance will also be included. Upon conclusion a determination will be made on how Joe could leverage an understanding of the value of self-efficacy to ensure he hires the most successful salespeople. Forming perceptions and making attributions According to Dr. Bill Saleeby, perception is a process that creates meaning by interpreting and selecting. Our perceptions of others are based entirely on these concepts; on our own selection of friends and our interpretation of their characteristics. Since first impressions are usually made within the first 10 seconds, these perceptions are important because it allows us to evaluate any possible closed-mindedness or quick judgment. Dr. Bill Saleebey also states that most people base their perceptions of others on character rather than environment and surroundings. Periodical perceptions, which are used regularly by Joe’s employees, are......

...our competitors rather than bringing up our own advantages. If a customer is talking about going to Sprint for example and they are talking about their unlimited data I may talk about how they only have unlimited data on their network and the negative things that go along with Sprint. Instead I should focus my attempt on providing the customer with the advantages of Verizon. I could talk about how we by far have the best network, we have the fastest data speeds, and how they’d be losing all their minutes that come along with Verizon to Verizon free calling. I’m playing down to the customers’ level instead of raising up my level. Verizon has a few instances where it uses evidence based management, but there also areas where they could improve. According to the site “Evidence Based Management” there are 5 key principals to EBM which are 1. Face the hard facts, and build a culture in which people are encouraged to tell the truth, even if it is unpleasant. 2. Be committed to "fact based" decision making -- which means being committed to getting the best evidence and using it to guide actions. 3. Treat your organization as an unfinished prototype -- encourage experimentation and learning by doing. 4. Look for the risks and drawbacks in what people recommend -- even the best medicine has side effects. 5. Avoid basing decisions on untested but strongly held beliefs, what you have done in the past, or on uncritical "benchmarking" of what winners do. Number 1 is hard......

...Assignment1: Finding the Leader in You: Self Assessment/Johari Window Business 520: Leadership and Organizational Professor: Dr. Anthony Muscia Date: January 27, 2014 A self-assessment is one of the most difficult things for a person to complete. When doing a self-assessment one has to look at all the factors in their life which may sometimes be good and other times bad. Whether due to the difficulty of honestly analyzing ones own actions or just a reluctance to acknowledge past letdowns; self-assessments can be a very hard task. A person still can try their best to be open and honest, but all people have habits or certain things they do that they are not always aware of. Dr. Terry Armstrong states, “we might not be aware of everything there is to know about ourselves, but good communication is always the beginning” (2006). Develop a profile of your personality characteristics and assessment results. When developing my personality traits and characteristics profile I found that I am a strong decision maker who isn’t afraid of confrontation. I am very social and loyalty means a great deal to me. I am clearly an extravert, but I do have a few introverted ways. I like to be around friends and build lasting relationships, but I am not always the first person to begin conversation or step totally “outside of my box” in situations. This premise continues as I look deeper into my personality. I am a very cooperative person, but their have......

...Running head: ROWE PROGRAM AT BEST BUY 1 Assignment #5 – Case “ROWE Program at Best Buy” September 1, 2011 1. Describe the Culture of Best Buy. The Culture of Best Buy used to be embrace long hours, sacrifice of family, stress, and a sense of working too hard. At one time, going AWOL during daylight hours would have been grounds for a pink slip. That is no longer true at Best Buy. The nation’s leading electronics retailer has embarked on a radical, if risky; experiment to transform a culture one known for killer hours and herd-riding bosses. The endeavor, called ROWE, for “Results-Only Work Environment,” (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2011) seeks to demolish decades-old business dogma that equates physical presence with productivity. The goal at Best Buy is to judge performance on output instead of hours. Instead of launching a “work-live balance” (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2011) program, Best Buy rethought the very concept of work. Under the Results-Only Work Environment program, or ROWE, employees can work when and where they like, as long as they get the job done. The change begins with what Best Buy calls “sludge sessions” (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2011). These sessions are where employees dig out the cultural barriers to change, the jokes and comments that reinforce overwork. According to Traci Tobias, the manager of travel reimbursement for Best Buy, if you came in after 10 am you were the bunt of jokes such as, “Wow, I wish I...

While BMW celebrates its successes, the company remains humble and recognizes that things can go wrong. In 1959 the company nearly went bankrupt after it badly misjudged the market trends of the era. The company would not be here today if it did not receive a bailout from a wealthy German family and the continued support of their workforce. This served as a pivotal point in BMW’s history that would drive the company’s performance. As a part of the on-boarding orientation training BMW makes a point to share the story of 1959 with each new plant associate. From day one BMW employees understand the vision, mission, and goals of the company; this in turn creates a sense of placement for the employee within the company. Employees are not only armed with the training and knowledge they will need to be successful at BMW but know how they have and continue to impact the company.
