Introduction to Apple

"Innovation comes from people meeting up in the hallways or calling each other at 10:30 at night with a new idea, or because they realized something that shoots holes in how we've been thinking about a problem. It's ad hoc meetings of six people called by someone who thinks he has figured out the coolest new thing ever and who wants to know what other people think of his idea."

Intro to Fine Art Assignment 3

...Intro to Fine Art Assignment 3 Question 1. In order to fully understand Roman art, we must understand that “Roman culture was modeled on that of the Greeks.” (Lewis 228) More specifically our textbook states that “while the romans absorb their artistic ideals from the Greeks, they were more realistic than idealistic, more active than philosophical, more pragmatic than creative.” (Lewis 228) One example of the more realistic art contributions made by the Romans is “a tradition of realistic portraits.” (Lewis 228-229) The Roman sculpture of Cato and Porzia exemplifies this realistic portrait sculpture. The portrait is very realistic and descriptive of all of their features despite their somewhat unattractive nature. By contrast, the Greek’s would have preferred a much more idealized sculpture of the couple. Another aspect of art introduced by the Romans can be seen in their architecture. The Romans used many of the Greek techniques but also “borrowed the idea of the arch from the East and exploited its possibilities to construct public buildings of great size, feats of ancient engineering.” (Lewis 230) The Roman Coliseum could not have been built using traditional Greek architecture due to the weight of the structure. In addition to the use of the arch in Roman architecture, “The Romans developed the architectural feature of the dome.” (Lewis 233) The Roman Temple the Pantheon is a great example of the Romans use of the dome in architecture. The Roman use small stones......

...the banking sector NBFCs had to rely excessively on unsecured public deposits for their existence /survival by paying higher rate of interest. To service such high cost deposits, some NBFCs were forced to deploy their funds which carried high return coupled with high risk. This ultimately resulted in higher risks for their depositors, which in some cases had culminated in the crisis of confidence and credibility. As a result RBI came up with harsh measures to regulate the sector in June 1997. It made credit rating for the NBFCs compulsory and stipulated the upper limit of deposits depending upon the credit rating of a particular NBFC. Registration with the RBI was also made compulsory The Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 was amended on 1st December, 1964 by the Reserve Bank Amendment Act, 1963 to include provisions relating to nonbanking institutions receiving deposits and financial institutions. It was observed that the existing legislative and regulatory framework required further refinement and improvement because of the rising number of defaulting NBFCs and the need for an efficient and quick system for redressal of grievances of individual depositors. Also, it was felt necessary to initiate immediate action for the protection of depositors’ interest. RBI issued the Non Banking Companies (Reserve Bank) Directions, 1977, guidelines on prudential norms and various other Directions and clarifications, from time to time for governing the activities of NBFCs. ...Terry Fox Who: Terry Fox was a Canadian humanitarian, athlete, and cancer research activist What: Terry Fox ran across Canada on one leg to raise money for cancer research and awareness Where: Terry ran from St Johns on the east coast to the outside of Thunder Bay When: He started his run on April 12th, 1980 and ended on September 1st 1980 Why: To raise money for cancer research and for everyone suffering from cancer also to find a cure Terry fox was not only a great Canadian but also an inspiring individual, with great goals and ambitions. I personally find what he did very touching and inspirational. The fact that he attempted to run across Canada on one leg (since the other one had been amputated because of his cancer) is simply so brave and noble of him. Also it must have defiantly been so hard to run 5373 km on one leg, furthermore I know for a fact I couldn’t even imagine running 2 km on two legs; let alone running what Terry did on one leg. The part I also find very great about him is that he didn’t just do this for himself he did this for everyone else that was suffering from cancer, he was obviously in no condition to run but he still did because he wanted to show people that if you try you can make a difference. Terry did make a difference, thanks to his run people to this day run each year to raise money for cancer, a matter of fact there is a special day for him which is the annual Terry Fox Run Day which is held every year in September. ...stakeholders, that “Influence reflects a stakeholder’s relative power over and within an organization,” its importance indicates the degree to which the organization cannot be considered successful it a stakeholder’s needs, expectations and issues are not addressed. 2 The process of Delegation: Delegation is defined as “the assignment of responsibility or authority to another person (normally from a manager to a subordinate) to carry out specific activities. It is one of the core concepts of management, leadership. However, the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome of the delegated work. Delegation empowers a subordinate to make decisions, i.e. it is a shift of decision-making authority from one organizational level to a lower one.” 3 The process of delegation, albeit a simple one at Negril Café, occurs through Top Level Management (the C.E.O and Director) passing on authority to Middle Management (the Operations Managers), who in turn delegates to Low level Management (Restaurant Managers) who in turn passes on certain level of authority to the workforce. While we have occasional hiccups within this line of task assignments, Negril Café’s management handles delegation with grace. We’ve found that most persons involved are effective and eager to act on behalf of the delegator. Still, there are a few that continually drop the ball when tasks are expected to be addressed. This is the area where we find low level management suffering from a......

1st Crusade

...How successful was the 1st Crusade? The 1st crusade was initiated by the call from Pope Urban II in 1095 to regain the Holy Land of Jerusalem, he promised those that went on this journey a place in heaven. This created one of the bloodiest religious wars in history between the Christian and Muslim worlds. The Christian side was made up of poor, less-advanced, yet savage Franks, and the more civilised Christians from the Byzantium empire in the East. The first major success for the Christians was the Siege of Antioch. On arrival, the defences of the city seemed unstoppable. The franks were truly astonished as they were used to wooden castles and fighting with ineffective weapons, but what they were faced with was 6 mile long stone walls and sharp weapons. Despite this, the Christians managed to get an insider who retrieved information that a large Muslim army was on its way, as well as this they managed to blockade the city in an attempt to weaken their defence. Before the Army had chance to arrive a long but brutal attack was made on Antioch. Once over the walls of Antioch no mercy was shown, it was a bloody battle as anyone in the Christian path was killed and tortured, some were even eaten by some of the most savage cannibalised Franks. Georges Tates believed 'it gave an impression that could never be forgotten'. Following the Siege of Antioch, it was then seen that the 'road to Jerusalem' had opened. After years of minor battles, both successful and unsuccessful the......

Further, their subsidiaries are also listed in the local stock exchanges, for example Unilever Pakistan is listed in Karachi and Lahore Stock Exchanges in Pakistan. (Unilever, 2001-2006) Before the launch of the euro, all reporting of the consolidated accounts was in pounds sterling as shown by the consolidated accounts of 1999. Afterwards the euro was adopted as a base currency for the consolidated accounts representation. Unilever adopted the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) on 1st January 2005, which differs from US GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles), as adopted by UK and European Law. (Unilever, 2001-2006). Moreover, before 2000 they divided their operation into five regions, more than 100 countries, namely: * Europe * Latin America * North America * Asia and Pacific * Africa, Middle East and Turkey However, afterwards they reduced their regions (only in their reports, not physically) to three, namely: * Europe * The Americas * Asia Africa (Unilever, 2001-2006) Furthermore, Unilever has a dual management structure which is constantly passing through reforms since 2000. In using the writing process and becoming proficient in it, you will be able to produce quality papers for your class. “Studies show that students who learn the writing process score better on state writing tests than those who receive only explicit instruction in the skills assessed on the test. This type of authentic writing produces lifelong learners and allows students to apply their writing skills to all subjects." (Kozdras, 2015) However, in the process you will need to think critically about every step. By this I mean you will need to think outside the box, and depending on your paper or course, you might need to put your one foot on each side of the agreement or topic of your assignment. Steps I take to improve my critical thinking are, question any assumptions, don't take information on the authority until I've investigated it myself, and question things. An example, where I use these steps, is before choosing my next course. I wonder how other people's experiences where while attending the course, investigate the course myself and ask a question the instructor. After all this, I get a brief idea of the course and go in with knowledge and knowing what to expect. While attending any university, you're exposed to many helpful resources. Intro to Black Experience Assignment 2

...Writing Assignment #2 Historians, political scientists and anthropologists have played a major role in the field of African American studies. There are several similarities and differences when comparing the methodology of all these people. To begin, history has been the most responsible for the restoration of the African past than any other discipline. The methodology of a historian is that of data collection. This can consist of using primary or secondary sources such as government documents, diaries, memoirs, books etc. Where a historian differs from the other fields is that they are completely objective and aim for the systematic understanding of Africa They provide the foundation for other areas to use and obtain a more comprehensive understanding. Continuing, anthropology is the study of culture and began studying Africa before history did. Early anthropologists researched in collaboration with colonial administrators who visited and interviewed Africans about their customs in their free time and created monographs. They have contributed greatly to the field of African American studies, in fact more than eight presidents of the African Studies Association have been anthropologists. Lastly, political science is the study of government and the decision-making process. They were the last to enter into the field of African American Studies due to the development of society and government. Research Assignment 3 Intro to Programming Logic and Design

...Research Assignment 3: Exploring Reverse Engineering • What is reverse engineering? Reverse engineering is the general process of analyzing a technology specifically to ascertain how it was designed or how it operates. This kind of inquiry engages individuals in a constructive learning process about the operation of systems and products. Reverse engineering as a method is not confined to any particular purpose, but is often an important part of the scientific method and technological development. The process of taking something apart and revealing the way in which it works is often an effective way to learn how to build a technology or make improvements to it. When reverse engineering software, researchers are able to examine the strength of systems and identify their weaknesses in terms of performance, security, and interoperability. The reverse engineering process allows researchers to understand both how a program works and also what aspects of the program contribute to its not working. • What are the advantages and disadvantages of using reverse engineering to discover the logics of a software program? Reverse engineering in software is reversing a program's machine code back into it's original source code. The advantages to using this technique is that one can repair certain bugs, see how a program operates, and improve the operation              of the program.
