Advantages of Various Insurance

Most employers offer several types of insurance programs for their employees. Some are completely company sponsored and others are paid for by the employees through payroll deduction. The most common insurance programs that employers offer are term life insurance, universal whole life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D), and long and short term disability. The offerings vary from company to company, but it is important for employees to know the difference between them and how it plays a role in their life.
The most common insurance that companies offer their employees is term life insurance. Term life insurance is the least expense and is meant to be held only for a certain amount of time, hence the name “term life insurance”. In a term life policy you can choose the amount of the policy and how long the policy is good for. It can be for 1, 5, and 20 years, etc. At the end of the policy term the choice is given to either renew the policy, typically at a higher rate, or you can convert the policy to a permanent policy. The biggest advantage of having a term life insurance policy is the cost. The premium is typically lower than other types of policies. At ones time of death, their beneficiary will be paid out the amount of the policy. It is also pretty straight forward to the point and easy to understand. You have a policy for X amount of dollars for X amount of years. It will pay out x amount at the time of your death.
Universal whole life insurance differs from term life insurance in that it is a permanent policy meant to protect people for a lifetime. There is no set term for the policy. Premiums can be paid monthly, quarterly, and annually. Insurance payouts…...
