I agree with this topic because the better-solution in this story is able to be the new trend for today's world. The better-solution changes the way of thinking to make profits to everyone, not just maximize profit for companies and countries. I believe that the sustainable development which includes economy, environment, and social community will be the global mega trend. Nowadays, many big companies concern more about environment. For example, Method, which produces nontoxic, biodegradable natural cleaning supplies, shows the solution to produce products and think about the environment. They use the ocean plastic that is friendly to the environment to make and reuse bottles. An ocean plastic is a waste from beach. Also, you can see ocean plastic is printed on every bottle of Method. In my opinion, Method is making the better environment to build the business by changing the way of thinking.
Not only have the companies collaborated to make the better world, but people have to put a value on the environment. However, the better solution is not easy to change people thinking in short period of time because people prefer to make their lives easier and not concern much about the environment and social community. We should have the regulations for producers to make the better world, reduce pollutions and change the way of thinking. The campaign that can change the people thinking. In short, a high GDP is important for every country to show that people have good lives, but environment for a long run is more essential for everyone.

I completely agree with Simone Anholt because I like his sentence "He wants to live in the good country", so do I, and also we don't live in a perfect world. A lot of crazy problems happen all the time. Many people think that living in the richest country is good for their lives, but I think that is not a real happiness. We all just want basic needs to continue our lives. In my opinion, we do not need to bully others to have better lives and to be happy, but we should help each other. The happiness can come from giving. We should not beat others up to be happy.
However, as we are human-being. We need to fight and complete each other for living because we need to earn resources or money to have good lives. No one refuses that money is good. Money is crucial in our lives, but money is not everything in our lives. Someone need to beat up others because they never know their real need. They need everything that they want because of the ambition. In term of economic, we should allocate the resources that are limited. This main idea is not support people to have too much resource for themselves.
I will provide the good concept of economy that is called "Sufficient economy" This idea come from the king of Thailand. According to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej “Economic development must be done step by step. It should begin with the strengthening of our economic foundation, by assuring that the majority if our population has enough to live on…Once reasonable progress has been achieved, we should then embark on the next steps, by pursuing more advanced levels of economic development.”
“Being a tiger is not important. The important thing is for us to have a sufficient economy. A sufficient economy means to have enough to support ourselves…we have to take a careful step backward…each village or district must have relative self-sufficient.”
From my point of view, this idea show that the happiness and good country is from the sufficiency, and not being extraordinary.…...

...like to acknowledge the enormous help given to me in creating this book. For their memories, their patience, and their guidance, I wish to thank Charlotte, Rob, and Jonathan Schwartz, Maurie Stein, Charlie Derber, Gordie Fellman, David Schwartz, Rabbi Al Axelrad, and the multitude of Morrie’s friends and colleagues. Also, special thanks to Bill Thomas, my editor, for handling this project with just the right touch. And, as always, my appreciation to David Black, who often believes in me more than I do myself. Mostly, my thanks to Morrie, for wanting to do this last thesis together. Have you ever had a teacher like this? The Curriculum The last class of my old professor’s life took place once a week in his house, by a window in the study where he could watch a small hibiscus plant shed its pink leaves. The class met on Tuesdays. It began after breakfast. The subject was The Meaning of Life. It was taught from experience. No grades were given, but there were oral exams each week. You were expected to respond to questions, and you were expected to pose questions of your own. You were also required to perform physical tasks now and then, such as lifting the professor’s head to a comfortable spot on the pillow or placing his glasses on the bridge of his nose. Kissing him good-bye earned you extra credit. No books were required, yet many topics were covered, including love, work, community, family, aging, forgiveness, and, finally, death. The last lecture was brief, only a few......

...Kyrsten Arnold Period 4 11/1/11 Scary Story This was going to be a scary night. First, at dinnertime, my mother, father, and I had the normal Friday night meal, pizza. All three of us had gathered in the family room and ate in silence as we watched my dad’s favorite TV show “Chopped”. After I finished my last delicious bite of pepperoni pizza, I became tired of cooking competitions, so I began to wash my dishes. As I did I took a glance out the window in front of the sink and had to do a double take, because there, slightly behind a tree, only a few yards behind my house was a tall man in a long dark coat and a pitch black hat. I blinked several times and rubbed my eyes. When I looked back, he was gone. Phew, it was just my eyes playing tricks on me. I let out a relived sigh as I finished my dishes and headed up to my room to read my book. Next, at bedtime, just as I was about to pull the sheets over me, I saw him again, but he looked different. He stood in rags and this time I could see his face. His pale face was like that of a vampire and his dead gray eyes burned into mine. Then I realized he was carrying something big. My eyes grew wide and I rubbed them frantically, but when I opened them again he was still there and had moved even closer to the house. As he moved forward he stepped into a pool of moonlight and I could see what was in his hands. A chainsaw. A bloody, red chainsaw was what he carried. I wanted to scream but my mouth felt dry and scratchy, like...

...Scenes from a death When J came out of the door for the first time he almost felt as if the illusion had spread its aura beyond the premises of that lugubrious hospital where the air was occupied by the rancid medicines and the stench of death which mingled more frequently than one expected. He had put up a cigarette to his mouth before even opening the door pretending his eagerness to put out the stress which in actuality did not existed but he almost forgot to light it up when he saw a legion proceeding towards the gate with their murmurs which were more of noises than whispers. For a moment J thought that these people must have been mislead by someone and have mistook this hospital for a place of some deity but soon the contradiction prevailed as two men from the crowd made haste to open the door followed by another four men who carried a body which seemed dead by all means but in truth there was still some life left in it. During the course of action the murmurs changed to convulsions but if one gave a little attention one could easily make out that it were prayers which came out incoherently from the trembling voices. Looking at such a commotion two ward boys from the hospital came out to dispose of the situation but on realizing the fervour of the event they instead rushed forward to help the patient whose life frailly depended on the efficacy of those workers. Soon the patient was taken in the labyrinth of the hospital rooms where it was natural for one to get lost...

...Story of a father and a little boy who had a bad temper There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said “you have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.” You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there. Moral for the story: Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later....

The film portrays the story of a boy named Salvatore “ToTo” di Vita, and the way he grows up with the story of the cinema from a town called Giancaldo in the province of Sicily. The boy bonds with a man named Alfredo who worked at the local theater, Alfredo teaches everything he knows to Salvatore until one day Alfredo has an accident and goes blind. Salvatore later fall’s in love with Elena and soon has to leave his town in order to follow his career. He returns to Giancaldo 30 years later in order to learn the lesson of letting go. The score is very beautiful and very touching throughout the film and it depicts the emotions going on very accurately. It was played during the shooting of the film, which I think makes all the difference for the actors in really feeling every scene. There was a lot of inspiration and artistry during the making of this film. From the beginning of the movie, we get to know and fall for little Salvatore and that reminds us of how we were when we were little kids. From then on we start to feel related to him and how he grows up. There are lots of emotions all throughout the film because he goes through every stage of life with the cinema at his side and how the cinema also changes. It shows you how at first even kisses were banned from the screen and the local priest......

...Zheng He vs. Christopher Columbus When you hear the name Christopher Columbus the first thing that probably comes to your mind is that he was the one who founded America. However, if you actually do some research you will find out that he wasn’t the only one. Evidence shows that there was another man who discovered America seventy years before, Zheng He. He was a Chinese admiral during the Ming Dynasty, who also served as the Ming Dynasty Emperor and leader of seven voyages in the Indian Ocean. Christopher Columbus and Zheng He were both great travelers with great differences in their journey. Columbus’ story is one of great greed and domination while Zheng’s however one of a more noble cause. Very rarely, does the name Zheng He ever come up unless you’re in China. But he was a very important traveler in the world of discovery and he predates many of the more famous explorers. The purpose of his travel and explorations was to display the power of China while also creating better relations with other nations and setting up trade agreements in different parts of the world. One of the things that Zheng He’s voyages are known for is the size of the fleets that he commanded. In all, there were seven voyages headed up by Zheng He, including voyages to East Africa, India, and Arabia. Zheng He and his expedition exemplified the highest level of ancient Chinese propriety in terms of foreign trade. Zheng’s voyage stimulated and inspired the development of overseas trade....

...A STORY OF HONESTY   A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business. Instead of choosing one of his directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together. “It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO,” he said.”I have decided to choose one of you.” The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. “I am going to give each one of you a seed today – a very special seed. I want you plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO.”   One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. ...the Magi" is a short story written by O. Henry (a pen name for William Sydney Porter), about a young married couple and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. As a sentimental story with a moral lesson about gift-giving, it has been a popular one for adaptation, especially for presentation during the Christmas season. The plot and its "twist ending" are well-known, and the ending is generally considered an example of situational irony. It was allegedly written at Pete's Tavern[2][3] on Irving Place in New York City. Plot Mr. James Dillingham Young ("Jim") and his wife, Della, are a couple living in a modest flat. They each have one possession in which they take pride: Della's beautiful long, flowing hair and Jim's gold watch, which had belonged to his father and grandfather. On Christmas Eve, with only $1.87 in hand, and desperate to find a gift for Jim, Della sells her hair for $20, and eventually finds a platinum fob chain for Jim's watch for $21. Happy to have found the perfect gift at last, she runs home and begins to prepare dinner. When Jim comes home, he looks at Della with an expression “that she could not read, and it terrified her.” Della then admits to Jim that she sold her hair to buy him his present. Jim gives Della her present — an array of expensive combs for her hair (referred to as “The Combs”). Della then shows Jim the chain she bought for him, to which Jim says he sold his watch to......

...walking home from school.  His name was Kyle.  It looked like he was carrying all of his books.  I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?  He must really be a nerd."  I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.  His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him.  He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes.  My heart went out to him.  So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.  They really should get lives." He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"  There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.  I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.  As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.  He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.  We talked all the way home, and I carried his books.  He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.  I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends.  He said yes. We hung all weekend and the more I got to know......

...short stories, 250 words long look up, look to the sides, just don’t look at the reflection in the bar mirror She’s a red dress and thick rimmed glasses and all sorts of wit and intelligence in conversation. Next to her is a man that’s just a little more dim witted and a flannel shirt that was pressed just slightly too recently. And all around them are duplicates; replicants- people that are acquaintances or soon to be fair weather friends. All around them are life paths that they were one butterfly away from taking. The woman in the red dress is yawning now- opening her mouth so wide people near her can see the fills in her molars- but she doesn’t yawn consciously. She is uncouth without even giving a thought to it. She is feeling tired. More importantly, she’s feeling hungry- trying to eat in all the air that is around to prove to herself that her heart still beats and it’s not all just a dream. Among all of the people by the bar there is color- various colors- some bright, some subdued and pastel. The coloring of their clothing tell stories that are alike in their uniqueness. She lays one hand on the bar and shakes her head. He looks at her, concerned, and asks what’s wrong. “Nothing,” she lies. “Are you sure?” he asks. “Yes. Let’s dance.” She takes his hand out of his pocket, lifts him away from the bar, and they sway back and forth, back and forth, until all the notes blend into one beat. Until she can create the......
