...organization has a great need in in marketing itself, interacting and communicating with its members and society to keep them informed and engaged. For special organizations like non-profit ones, the need of effective communication channels at zero cost is likely greater, especially during challenging economic time today. And social media, currently, is likely the best choices for such organizations. EARTH HOUR-A SUCCESSFUL CASE OF USING SOCIAL MEDIA FOR REACHING AND ENGAGING TARGET AUDIENCES According to Facebook early October 2012, Facebook now has more than one billion users each month and its one billion users have been responsible for 1.13 trillion “likes,” 219 billion photos and 17-billion location check-in. Being one of the “top of mind” social net work, Facebook is used by most of non profit organizations to communicate and interact with their community. Let’s take “Earth hour” as an example; it started in 2007 in a small city in Australia, Earth Hour aimed to create among Australians on the issue of climate change. Thanks for social media; Earth hour is now the biggest ever-public awareness campaign about environment. More over, Earth hour now is not only about “no electric for 1 hour” every year, it is about everything which helps to protect the nature. As co-Founder and Executive Director, Andy Ridley said “In Brazil, its used for the Amazon's conservation, in China it's about cleaner air and in India is about energy saving”. Obviously, only social media, which......

Different decades lead to different styles of music, but the effects are still the same by influencing popular culture and setting new trends that travel through different social arenas. In “The Power of Music”, Elena Mannes dictates how music affects different groups of people and how it could play a role in medical procedures. Also, Mannes says music has the potential to help people with neurological deficits. Stating that a stroke patient who has lost verbal functions, that those verbal functions may be stimulated by music.” Reading this statement gives me the understanding that music could possibly manipulate the mind of an individual that has a feeble thought process. Video games have progressed to borderline realization. An object which started as a simple piece of entertainment has had a great effect on the lives of any one who plays. Video games have moved from an individual’s living room to the World Wide Web and beyond. ...Questions The point of this assignment is for you to compare and contrast your view of the philosophical issues of free will and personal identity with the philosophical theories explained by the author of your textbook. After you read each chapter, take some time to check the statement that comes closest to your view (and summarizes a philosophical theory explained by the author). Free will or determinism? When I think about the extent of my freedom to choose in life, I believe that human beings are False absolutely free to choose whatever path in life seems best to them (libertarianism) True are sometimes free, but sometimes have their choices shaped by social, cultural and psychological forces over which they have no control (soft determinism – traditional compatibilism) False are choosing freely only if what it is they say they want is something whose consequences they understand and is a goal or desire that is genuinely good for them (deep self-compatibilism) False are completely determined in all their choices by what has come before – their biology, social forces, etc. (hard determinism) Please explain in a few sentences here why you selected the option you did. Raise at least one question about the position you have taken. I have taken the position of soft determinism because while I believe we have free will- I believe that our free will is limited by probability. I do however wonder if it is possible to defy probability. Can we truly......

...“Human actions are causally determined and therefore not free” Discuss. Determinism argues that all human actions are determined as they apply to natural laws. However, to say actions are determined means that human action isn’t free and we do not have free will. Free will is the term given to the idea of human ability to do what we like whenever we like without restraint. I disagree with the claim that human action is not free and I will put forth arguments in this essay to discuss this conclusion. Firstly, libertarians would argue that we freely chose our actions as we have an overall feeling of freedom. This relates to our common experiences of choosing and deciding and when we have to make choices we are open to all other alternatives before making a decision. Surely, we only have the ability to freely choose something if we have free will to do so and if our actions were causally determined then we wouldn’t have other alternatives to decide from. Therefore this strong feeling of free will and freedom to do as we choose to would prove that human actions isn’t causally determined. However, determinists would claim that this ‘feeling’ of freedom is not sufficient evidence to say that we are free since it is possible for us to feel free even when we are not. For example, if I had a brain tumour that I didn’t know of which caused me to drink repeatedly then I am unaware that the tumour is making me do so yet I feel as if I am freely choosing to drink. It may seem as......

...TuThurs Prof. Smith Free Will Free will can be perceived as a quality one is born with no matter what your background is. But then again what is free will? And do we all have it? This strikes a huge argument with many outlooks on either the possibility of having free will or the possibility of not having free will. Ranging from Determinists such as Albert Einstein and Libertarians such as John Locke to everyday people such as me who truly believe that we are indeed free. We can conclude that there is a possibility for free thanks to these following premises and principles. According to the Principle of Alternate Possibilities one can choose to do one or the other. Therefore if given two possibilities it is in the power of the individual to either choose to go one way or the other. If I was given the possibility of eating a burrito or a salad I would make a choice depending on the way I felt that day. It could also be based on past habits, information about how healthy both choices are, belief, or my own eating habits. This option can be seen as being determined or free will, but in this instance we will pretend I chose whatever I chose freely. The argument above is both valid and sound. It is valid because both of my premises are true in any circumstance therefore there is no way of proving it false. The soundness is proven when we line up both premises and it gives us a conclusion. One can also conclude that there is no possibility for free will. According......

...psychological world? The physical world is more because the spiritual world is based around people thoughts, feelings, commitments, and understanding. Is there such a thing as a soul? Abrahamic concept of a soul that lives on after death, and suffers rewards or punishment for deaths in the present life, appears to have originated in Zoroastrianism. And if so how does it survive outside of a physical body? We would love to believe that souls exist; we would get pleasure knowing that another life exists after death, ‘It is something eternal, spiritual, that can never die” (Krishnamuri, 2013). If it existed it would survive through spirits and faith. Do all people have free will, or are lives determined by fate? All people have free will to an extent that their minds will allow them to have. Some are held hostage in their own minds maybe afraid to accomplish a goal because they are afraid of failure. Being aware of choice determines your fate. What is the basis for knowledge? It is the explanation of observations, given our understanding of the truth, facts that are apparent to people and cannot be denied. This is called revealed knowledge or qualia/phenomenal (belief in god). Is it innate reason, experience, or something else? It is innate because some knowledge can happen as early as birth, it can also be experience some learn from actually doing directly or indirectly. Is all knowledge subjective, or are there universal truths? Subjective knowledge is one’s point of view,......

...FREE CONSENT Meaning of consent: it means an act of assenting to an offer. According to section 13, "Tow or more persons are said to consent when they agree upon the same thing in the same thing in same sense." Thus, consent involves identity of minds in respect of the subject matter of the contract. In English Law, this is called 'consensus-ad-idem'. Effect of Absence of consent: When there is no consent at all, the agreement is void ab-initio, i.e. it is not enforceable at the option of either party. Example: X has one Maruti car and one fiat car. He wants to sell fiat car. Y does not know that X has two cars. Y offers to buy X's Maruti car Rs 50,000. X accepts the offer thinking it to be an offer for his Fiat car. Here, there is no identity of mind in respect of the subject of the subject matter. Hence there is no consent at all and the agreement is void ab-initio. Meaning of Free consent: It is one of the essential elements of a valid contract as it is evidenced by section 10 which provides that all agreements are contracts if they are made by the free consent of the parties... according to section 14, consent is said to be free when it is not caused by (a) Coercion, or (b)Undue influence, or (c) Fraud, or (d) Misrepresentation, or (e) Mistake. Effect of Absence of free consent: When there is consent but it is not free (i.e. when it is caused by coercion or undue influence or fraud or misrepresentation), the contract is usually voidable at the option of the......

...As regards the human person, the genes that predispose an individual’s temperament interact with their personal experiences to mold their individuality. A person’s individuality encapsulates both their internal and external reactions, as every human possesses a solitary, distinctive mind that constitutes their self-identity. A person’s actions cannot be solely attributed to the interaction between genes and experience, however, because within every person there also lies a will— a will that is free to make decisions and perform the actions it so desires. As was established previously, “inherited temperament deals the cards of life, and the human person—body and soul with innate, adventitious, and fictitious ideas— plays the hand they are dealt as new objects, experiences, and relationships are thrown their way.” In other words: nature, the innate qualities a person is born with due to their genetic make-up, interacts with nurture, the personal experiences a person comes into contact with. This was earlier explained using the empirical concept behind psychology’s diathesis-stress models, which examine how an individual’s level of vulnerability to abnormal behavior or mental illness (the diathesis) interacts with environmental factors (the stress) to influence behavior and the development of mental disorders. Similarly, a person’s genetic distinctions (the diathesis) interact with environmental factors and events (the stress) to influence their own thoughts, desires, and......

...fate as a “ a power thought to control all events and impossible to resist” “a persons destiny.” This would imply that fate has an over whelming power over the mind. This thing called fate is able to control a person and that person has no ability to change it. Its been proven time and time again that the human mind can over come any obstacle. An asset to the mind is a persons will. With the combination of a person’s mind and their will to decide their own destiny this thing called fate can be over come. Some people say that a person’s fate is pre destined. That nothing they do in life is by accident and everything that you do has been decided by a higher power. If that were so than why would this being of higher intelligence waste his time on some that he planned out. He already knows how it going to turnout so why even blow centuries of time watching this boring play. I don’t know about you but I someone tells me the ending to the movie then why waste time waiting for what you already know is going to happen. Another popular opinion is that a persons will is stronger than that of any barrier put in his way. That this thing called fate is only an obstacle that can be over passed just by the implement of a person’s mind. This breed of people believes that nothing can control all events and that the mind can resist all temptations if properly trained. I myself have different theory. That yes there is a higher power that puts fate into play. He sits there and......
