III. Buod

IV. Aral

Kabanata 45
“Ang mga pinag-uusig”

I. Talasalitaan * Yungib- Kuweba * Pinagsamantalahan- Minolestiya * Kumbento- Bahay-pari * Simpatya- Gnaya ng kalooban * Kumbinsihin- Hikayatin II.

IV. Aral

Shoe Polish Out of Banana Peel Extract

...Shoe Polish out of Banana Peel extract An Investigative Project Presented to: Mr. Paul Keenan C. Butt At Philippine Women’s University Jose Abad Santos Edsa QC In Partial fulfilment of the research in Chemistry By: Gabrielle Balanon III-Newton March 2014 Abstract The product of my research is a shoe polish made out of Banana peel extract. Tannin, an astringent that is an important ingredient in the process of tanning leather, can be found in Banana peels. This makes it an efficient ingredient for making shoe polish. I also decided to use Banana peels because there is a significant amount of banana peel waste being generated all around the world, so instead of just throwing them away and letting them rot, it’s better to put them to good use. The materials and ingredients needed for my research are very easy to get a hold of and doesn’t cost much as well. The process of making the product won’t take long either. It is a very affordable and effective product. It goes to show that Banana peels are more than just a part of the classic physical comedy slapstick visual gag, the "slipping on a banana peel" because it can actually make your shoes shine. Acknowledgement In the making of this research, I have a number of people who I would like to acknowledge for their unending patience and their big help. Firstly, I would like to acknowledge my parents. For all the patience they have given me. They have put in the effort......

...Project In English-IV Submitted By; Edelyn A. Salcedo IV- Generosity Submitted To; Mrs. Lilibeth Vargas (Subject teacher) Trojan War . In Greek mythology, the Trojan War was waged against the city of Troy by the Achaeans (Greeks) after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus king of Sparta. The war is one of the most important events in Greek mythology and has been narrated through many works of Greek literature, most notably through Homer's Iliad. The Iliad relates a part of the last year of the siege of Troy; the Odyssey describes the journey home of Odysseus, one of the war's heroes. Other parts of the war are described in a cycle of epic poems, which have survived through fragments. Episodes from the war provided material for Greek tragedy and other works of Greek literature, and for Roman poets including Virgil and Ovid. The war originated from a quarrel between the goddesses Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite, after Eris, the goddess of strife and discord, gave them a golden apple, sometimes known as the Apple of Discord, marked "for the fairest". Zeus sent the goddesses to Paris, who judged that Aphrodite, as the "fairest", should receive the apple. In exchange, Aphrodite made Helen, the most beautiful of all women and wife of Menelaus, fall in love with Paris, who took her to Troy. Agamemnon,......

Banana Peel

...the Study Bananas are among the most widely consumed fruits on the planet and, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Americans' favorite fresh fruit. The curvy yellow fruits are high in "potassium and pectin, a form of fiber," said Laura Flores, a San Diego-based nutritionist. They can also be a good way to get magnesium and vitamins C and B6. "Bananas are high in antioxidants, which can provide protection from free radicals, which we come into contact with every day, from the sunlight to the lotion you put on your skin," Flores added. Hawaii is the only place in the U.S. where bananas are grown commercially, although at one time they were also grown in southern California and Florida. The overwhelming majority of the bananas Americans eat come from countries in Latin America and South America, including Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Honduras, Panama, and Guatemala. Bananas were first found in New Guinea and spread throughout the Philippines nearly 4,000 years ago, and from their diversified around the world. They became a popular item in India, Indonesia, Australia, and Malaysia and were even used to make clothes and other fabrics in Japan. It wasn’t until they hit colonial plantations in America that they were used for inter cropping plants such as coffee, cacao, and pepper plantations. Their leaves provided the perfect shade for the more valuable plants, which was only the beginning of their endless environmental uses and health benefits. Bananas are rich......

Information About Banana

...being used by some households in order to keep their floor shiny and presentable. It  usually comes in different forms (solid or liquid wax) depending on the user's preference. They are locally available and people can purchase one in the supermarket instantly.  Luckily, one could actually make an improvised floorwax with just used candles, kerosene, and banana peelings!                Used candles and banana peelings are considered waste materials. Normally, those materials are just thrown away after usage. But instead of putting them in the garbage bin, they can be recycled to make a new useful product like floorwax. Banana peelings contain potassium which is the ingredient found in shoe polish.             So, why not save up those used candles and banana peelings to create a less expensive, environmentally-friendly, and low odor floor polish? It wouldn't only give you a shiny looking floor, but it would also make you utilize waste materials to produce a valuable household item. Feasibility of Banana Peel as a Floor Wax

...Facilities and Equipments Court- For Singles- 44 feet long and 17 feet wide For Doubles- 44 feet long and 20 feet wide Net- Stretched from post to post, 2 feet and 6 inches in depth, and 5 feet in height from the floor. Post- 5 ft and 1 inch in height from the floor. Racket- It is lightweight and can be made of wood, aluminum metal or synthetic material such as graphite or carbon. It can be up to 68 cm long and it’s usually weighs about 100 grams. Shuttlecock- it is made from 14- 16 goose feathers that are placed in a leather-covered cork head, made of either plastic or nylon. Types of serve Low serve The low serve is played gently over the net to land at the front of your opponent’s service court, near the short service line. It’s important that this serve passes low over the net (hence the name low serve). The low serve is used in both singles and doubles. In doubles, the low serve is used more frequently than any other serve. High serve The high serve is played powerfully upwards, so that the shuttlecock travels very high and falls almost vertically downwards at the back of the receiver’s service court. High serves are used frequently in singles, but never in doubles (at a high standard of play). The high serve can only be played with a forehand action. Unlike the other three serves, you just won’t get enough power from a backhand to play a good high serve. Flick serve The flick serve is also played upwards, but much more shallowly than the high serve.......

Alquisalas January 26, 2016 Victorias City Background of the study The population of our country are mostly composed of students. And one of the responsibility of a student is to clean their school or classroom to be specific. They tend to use (commercial) floor wax to have a clean and shiny floor. So we decided to make a floor wax which is very affordable and can give an equal quality as the commercial can, using mainly banana peel, gasoline and candles. Some people get allergic reactions to the chemical contents of commercialize floor wax. At the same time the dengue cases in our country are still relevant. Aside from making a natural and affordable floor wax, we added a content of mosquito repellent which is the mint leaves extract. The banana is an edible fruit, botanically a berry, produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants in the genus Musa. We use banana peels as one of the main components of our floor wax because it gives "slippery effect"......

Banana

... J. 1987. Banana. p. 29–46. In: Fruits of warm climates. Julia F. Morton, Miami, FL. Banana Musa x paridasiaca Description Origin and Distribution Varieties Climate Soil Propagation Culture Harvesting Yield Handling and Packing Controlled Ripening and Storage Pests Diseases Food Uses Animal Feed Other Uses Folklore The word "banana" is a general term embracing a number of species or hybrids in the genus Musa of the family Musaceae. Some species such as M. Basjoo Sieb. & Zucc. of Japan and M. ornata Roxb., native from Pakistan to Burma, are grown only as ornamental plants or for fiber. M. textilis Nee of the Philippines is grown only for its fiber, prized for strong ropes and also for tissue-thin tea bags. The so-called Abyssinian banana, Ensete ventricosum Cheesman, formerly E. edule Horan, Musa ensete Gmel., is cultivated in Ethiopia for fiber and for the staple foods derived from the young shoot, the base of the stem, and the corm. Most edible-fruited bananas, usually seedless, belong to the species M. acuminata Colla (M. cavendishii Lamb. ex Paxt., M. chinensis Sweet, M. nana Auth. NOT Lour., M. zebrina Van Houtee ex Planch.), or to the hybrid M. X paradisiaca L. (M. X sapientum L.; M. acumianta X M. balbisiana Colla). M. balbisiana Colla of southern Asia and the East Indies, bears a seedy fruit but the plant is valued for its disease-resistance and therefore plays an important role as a ";parent"; in the breeding of edible bananas. Orange Scented Floor Wax

...commercial floor wax is required in school and even in our houses. Applying floor wax on wooden or cemented floors maintains its shiny gloss. It also lessens the stain marks or other kinds of damage to the hard word and other flooring. However, buying ready-made floor wax is expensive and has unpleasant smell. The researcher decided to make an environment and economy friendly floor wax which is very affordable and has no unpleasant smell that can give equal equality as the commercial floor waxes can. It is possible to mix raw wax crystals and kerosene with banana peelings or banana leaves extract and orange extract to create a substance that can be used in polishing floors without getting an unpleasant smell. Kerosene’s oil will be used to ensure that the substance would be not so sticky because kerosene counteracts banana peelings’ stickiness. The orange extract will give a pleasant smell. The Homemade floor wax will give an equal quality of commercial products.
