Day on the Beach

Description Essay #1
Arriving at the beach my Dad bulldozed through the ever floundering sand as we swayed from side to side from his efforts. Our old car puffed with agony before he finally unearthed a parking spot neighboring the pier. Bolting out of our roadster I hammered the door shut and charged toward the pier. The soft light brown to tanish oven baked sand engulfed my feet as it muscled its way between each toe and quickly heated them.

In my struggle to reach the pier I managed to stop beneath it to cool my crisp feet. I strolled along the ocean’s edge as the chilled water revived my warm feet as I felt the sand jittering in the shallow water. Rough concrete pillars each blanketed at base with slimy green and black mold were cool to the touch. Encompassing these pillars were large heavy dark rocks carpeted with gooey moss and a few with sharp pointy edges. Coupled with these pillars and rocks were small skittish sand crabs. With there hard shell, light brown color, eyes floating above their head, and legs spread apart they were very fast.

Moving onward, I scrambled up the faded pier with old cracked dry wood that squeaked along the way until I reach the peak. My feet were once again warmed by the scorching wood of the pier. I tip-toed toward an orange heavy duty igloo water cooler yelling with my mouth wide open, OUCH, HOT, HOT, OU, until I cooled them down with the ice cold water. I stood near the cooler feeling the ocean breeze whipping my hair every which way. Looking through the wooded rail of the pier I watched the foam-covered waves topple over each other then slide back into its self. Overhead the singing sea gulls circled as other kids’ hurled food that was quickly ingested with the opening and closing of their beak.

Standing there baffled, eyes gazed over, and absorbing all the new scenery I hear a familiar whistle calling me from my Mom. I rush down from the pier and back to where my family waited to enter this massive pool. Gasping for air I darted into Mother Nature’s pool and the frigid water enveloped my body. My eyes were the size of a cow’s, my jaw fell to the ground, as a small wave sweep me off my feet slamming me to the muddy sand below. Finding my legs I stood back up coughing from the salty mouth full of water I swallowed. Bemused I looked toward my parents; my Dad was laughing displaying his gap between his two front teeth. My Mom was serious, her eye brows cringed up, her eyes smalled, and her firm voice says, “GET OVER HERE!” I did as I was told then spent the rest of the day under the watchful eye of my mother.

My first experience at the beach, we spent the entire day there, and I had a blast. It was one of the best sensory places for a child to visit. However, I have to say ever since my first experience as a child catapulting myself in the frigid water I have never done that again. I’m always the last one in, and it takes me forever to completely submerge myself.…...

Descriptive Beach Essay

...On a hot summer day, a great place to go is to the beach. You would go out to the beach to enjoy the water, the sun, the activities that are happening, or just to be with family and friends. When you're at the beach, there are some very distinct smells. You can smell the salt from the water along with the heat from the sand. My most favorite smell of all is the sweet coconut smell of sun tanning lotion that people put on themselves while they lay into the sun to basically "cook." If you're looking for a quiet day of relaxation at the beach, I don't think that will work out too well. The beach is always really loud throughout the day. You can hear the loud motors of the boats and the waves of the water as they come crashing through to shore. You'll definitely be able to hear the laughter and the excitement of the kids of all ages as they splash around, play games, and build sandcastles. While you're at the beach you can always get involved in some fun activities, if you aren't able to relax. You can go fishing, if you like touching the slimy scales of the fish and the soft touch of the cold water. Just make sure you don't get the rough, coarse sand in your shorts because you won't like that too much. Overall the beach is lots of fun to go to, if you just want to get away from the busy everyday city life. If you are there early enough, you will be able to see a beautiful, bright sunrise and if you enjoy staying out on the beach until the evening, I'm sure you......

The Beach

...The, enclosed, beach is silent. The bright ball blinds you as it emerges; it rises like a yellow lollipop on the distant horizon. Crashing against the shore, small waves wash the night's debris onto the land. Untouched golden sand covers the floor as far as your eyes can see. Soothing, a gentle sea breeze rustles through your hair. Beach shops prepare for their day of excited costumers bustling in and out of their small seafront shops. Opening their doors, they bring out all of there beach products looking out to the sea you can see the large cruise ships on the worlds edge. Abandoned, nothing there apart from a few sea gulls pecking at the rubbish left by yesterday's visitors. Empty crisp wrappers, chocolate wrappers, ice cream papers and half eaten cones scatter the yellow sand. Young children stumble onto the moist sand, with small buckets and spades in their hands, they shout and talk in excitement. Damp sand is forced between their toes. Straight away, the young children put on their swimming costumes and are smothered with thick white sun screen, to protect them from the bright sun. Children running towards the shoreline; their parents struggle onto the sand, loaded like camels with everything they will need for their day. Sandwiches, cold drinks, wind breakers, towels all bagged up and slung over both shoulders. A hot sea breeze rushes through the visitor's hair, as you stand there you can taste the salt in the air because it is so strong. The sound of the waves......

The Beach

...Miranda Poole 2/3/13 English 101 Descriptive Essay The Beach: A Relaxing Wonderland It is spring break, in the middle of March, my junior year. As I cross the state line into Florida, I picture the ocean as being a place of peace and serenity. It’s my first time visiting the ocean, and all I can think about is hoping it is as beautiful as the pictures I have seen of it. As I arrive to the beach with all my friends, the eagerness of seeing this peaceful place is rising. I can’t wait to smell the fresh salty air, feel the soft sand between my toes, walk along the breezy shoreline. As we approach the beach, the first thing I notice is the sky. As I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky and see the flawlessness of life; in the distance, rolling clear-blue waves crash into each other with such force as that of football players. The sky is breathtaking along with the sounds of the waves and the tide washing onto the shore. The water reminds me of crystals shimmering in the water with the sun reflecting off of it. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a pink hue with a bright orange sun going down into the horizon. We stroll on the beach, and my feet sink into the soft sand. I stroll along, and the grainy, slick, brown sugar sand pulls my bare feet under and leaves a perfect imprint. I pick up a handful and sift it from my palm slowly, feeling the grittiness of sand with each finger. The view down the beach of the white, but slightly brown sand was enough to make my knees......

The Beach Descriptive Essay

...Descriptive Writing The fiery ball blinds you as it floods the beach with its rays, making the shady beach of Barry Island seem like paradise, heat comparable to the Sahara desert. A child desperately tries to prevent his ice cream from a sand encrusted death as it plummets to the floor, debating whether or not he wants a vanilla and sand flavour ice cream, his face puzzled as he decides on retrieval, he would soon be distracted by the horde of people rapidly rushing to the depths of the sea. The sea sits calm and patient, almost inviting to the untrained eye. From afar the sea seems crystal-like projecting as it does a near perfect mirror image as if the sky and sea are at one. The closer you get to the sea you soon start to see its cracks as if it was a porcelain doll, beautiful and almost elegant from a distance. It's too late to turn back now the seas illusion has set in, the soggy sand has captured your footprint. Suddenly the sea shows its true colours a horrible musk of black filth, home to all types of disgusting bacteria waiting to pounce on the weak immune system. The stench of chip fat rules the air like a corrupt king slaying the sense of smell. Enticing the beach goers into a calorific snack, washed down by the warmth of a flat lifeless beer, where the rules of 'best served chilled' have been extremely violated. Seagulls circle the area ready to raid the sand for the food the sea has not yet claimed, Vermin of the air are hunting their prey. ...

...writting 09-07-13 The Beach Everyone needs a break in life. Chores, school, and work are all daily duties that people want to escape from. The beach releases me from all my responsibilities, so I try to visit the beach every summer at least once. I feel that all work and no play can be socially unhealthy. There should always be time for letup. Everyone needs to get out of work mode once in a while. My cousins enjoy the beach as much as I do, and my cousins always invite me to tag along with them. When I visit the beach, I can personally say that I always create new memories. This past summer, I only got the chance to go to the beach one time, but I still had an amazing time at the beach. The day I went to the beach was perfect. The sun was high in the sky, and the clouds provided just enough shade. The weather for the whole day was beautiful. The sand on the beach was warm to the skin. It felt as if I was walking on a bunch of pillows. As soon as I sat on the beach I completely buried my feet in the sand. The waves where flowing in because of the boat traffic in the distance. The sound of the waves were almost putting me to sleep as I laid on the shore. Many people play recordings of wave sounds to put themselves asleep at night, but the real sound of waves in person is extremely move effective. The water, the sand, and the sky was just exceptional. I could not dream up a better day. The setting of the beach was just right. The great part of the beach is people......

Descriptive Paragraph of the Beach Scene in the Yakatan

...spectacular places I’ve ever been. The beach smells fresh, almost like a new tropical breeze air freshener. Next to me is the Caribbean ocean, bright as a cloudless noon sky, washes onto the white sand. Looking at the waves’ white foam; then, I let my senses enjoy the sound as they break on the beach, almost like a shaken-up champagne bottle being opened. The sand is hot and looks like gold blended in with little white crumbs; it sparkles like the diamonds showcased in a high-end jewelry store and feels like walking on ashes from freshly extinguished fire. Despite the heat, walking on the warm, crystal sand pacifies my soul. I set up my folding lounger under the shade of a palm tree and explore my surroundings. The colorful towels spread out all over the beach are covered by bronzed figures. A net is up towards the water, and a few more figures dive to save a falling volleyball. Not far from the shore, you can see the coral sitting still in the wild and shallow water. People are laughing and playing in the burning sand, and others are relaxing on the beach reading their books while enjoying the bright rays of light coming from the sun. In a distance, I see occasional jet skis speeding over the waves, and sometimes, I can see a fish hop out of the water, its body shining in the sun. Not far away, a resort is attractively located right by the water, so all guests can look across the deep navy blue ocean each and every day. Also, houses line the beach on the left, just......

The Beach

...Descriptive writng. The Beach The beach is a relaxing getaway. There are various things about the beach that stick into my mind. The three main things that stuck to me was the view, smell, and the sound. All the way from beauty of the ocean, how the colors in the sky blended with the motion of the water. I will always remember the sound of pelicans calling each other as they swooped just in front of the orange sunset to scoop the sea water in their flabby necks. Even the taste of the air mixed with the smell of the sand that just made every sense open wide. I will always remember this moment. It was the only time I have ever felt that I had no worry in the world. The view itself would make you never want to leave. The sky blended perfectly from a fire tangerine orange to a soft baby blue. In between the loudest light of red and the quietest shade of blue, lay the deep purple of a night sky waiting for it’s time to take over the sky. The motion of the water drew you in closer to the shining sun just above the water with the moon shining directly above you like a spotlight. The waves were calm with ripples in every direction possible. The tide pushed the shiny wet sand flat as a plate. The shadows of birds flying towards the sun made me think if they were never going to stop until they actually reached the sun. The smell of the ocean is what made this experience one of a kind. The fresh air that wafted in the air gave me the chills that ran up both my arms. The wet sand......

Descriptive Essay the Beach

...Megan Wyckoff English 101 Mrs. Sarnoski January 27th 2014 Descriptive Essay Everybody in the world has a place where they can go to relax. Where they can forget about all their worries and just breathe in some fresh air and not have to think about what needs to be done and when. To many, the beach is the ultimate place for relaxation. As you stroll along the beach you can feel the sand in your feet and the waves hitting your legs. Under the surface you can feel your feet step on little seashells as you walk. When building a sandcastle the sand sifts right through your hands. Walking on the boardwalk there are too many smells to remember them all. The smell of the ocean salt is the most prominent. The smell of French fries, and Fresh popped popcorn fill the streets. What you see when your visiting the beach is simply amazing. Watching all the little children run around in the waves and building sandcastles. Adults are rubbing sunscreen all over themselves and their children. The waves crashing down out in the ocean are breathtaking. If you’re lucky you may even be able to see dolphins swimming in and out of the water. The beach is just one of the world most relaxing destinations. Whether you’re in Ocean City, New Jersey or The Dominican Republic. What you see, touch, and feel when you’re at the beach will be forever unforgettable. To me, the beach is the best place on earth....

For me, the beach is the ultimate cure to all of my problems. While I am there, all of my obligations are suddenly erased. The day was warm and muggy; it was the perfect weather to go to the beach. The water was clear and a rich deep blue in color. Not a patch of seaweed in sight. The fine white sand is burning your feet as you hear the sound of the waves crashing and the cool sea breeze brushing by. I take a deep breath of fresh air and look at the surrounding of people soaking in the sun waiting to get in the water. I slapped on the sunscreen and packed up my gear and ran towards the water, little kids were building sandcastles and having sand fights. I dogged through them and at last I was running through the shallows of the water getting nearer to the in coming wave. I dove straight through the dumping wave, the cool water rushing down my body. I popped back up to the surface, relived that I was finally out of the warm weather and cooled off by the beautiful seawater. Later, my friends decided to join me and we played volleyball in the sand. Everyone brought snacks and later that night we also had a barbeque. After a while, we swam in the sea, which was cool and pleasant. I saw sailing boats in the distance and fishermen busy with their catch. Then we sat on the beach......

A Nice Day at the Beach

...Jackson Moore November 1, 15 MKTG 3433 TLAM 9 This week’s resource is a video of Steve Easterbrook, the CEO of McDonalds, speaking on McDonalds’ needs to reconsider its business strategy and turn the company around. This video directly relates to chapter 15 of our textbook in many ways. The most obvious relationships are on target markets and customer service. One of these examples can be seen near the start of the video when Steve says that McDonalds needs to refocus and get closer to its target markets. This directly relates to the section title “Selecting Target Market” on page 493 of our textbook where it claims that, “A retailer starts to define its strategy by selecting a target market”. This is one of the most important things to consider when it comes to a company. If the company does not have a good grasp on its target market then it has no way of knowing how to tend to the demand of that market. Another connection between our reading and the video is that they both have a section devoted to customer service. Steve says that they are going to put more time and effort into focusing on the customer. He says that the company will develop a “sharper focus on the customer… a sharper focus on what they want”. On page 494, the book claims that all of this customer service is done to increase sales by attracting the target customer. Through this week’s video and reading, I have learned about many different marketing......

A Day at the Beach

...A DAY AT THE BEACH - QUESTIONS In preparing for the meeting with McDuff and Ms. Hahn, your team has been asked by Ms. Hahn to write a complete and thorough report, addressing at a minimum the following questions: Q. 1. McDuff’s attorney, Ms. Nicole Hahn, decided that it might be helpful to introduce data that would show that accident rates among drivers wearing flip-flops are higher than the accident rates among drivers wearing other types of footwear. Ms. Hahn obtained results of a federal government survey that produced data relating to non-fatal motor vehicle accidents and the nature of footwear that was worn by drivers at the time of the accidents. The data represented the difference between non-fatal accident rates of drivers wearing flip-flops and that of drivers wearing other types of footwear. The survey data is presented in Table 1 below. Ms. Hahn is not sure the results of the survey support the position that the accident rate among drivers wearing flip-flops is higher than the accident rate among drivers not wearing flip-flops. She is uneasy with the survey results, fearing that the survey might reveal the worse case outcome, namely, that drivers who wear flip-flops have lower accident rates than drivers who do not wear flip-flops. In addition, she is unsure how to analyze the data before making a final decision whether or not to use the survey results in settlement negotiations or, if needed, at trial. Ms. Hahn needs help in making sense of the data. ...

Beach

...The Beach On a hot summer day, you would go out to the beach to enjoy the view, the weather and the water. It was a sunny Friday afternoon when I decided to take my observations with me out into the world. I find that my imagination wanders off on its own and takes trips to the ocean without me, so I figured my body had some catching up to do. With a snap of my fingers and a short ride through the mountains. I found myself at my childhood playground, Santa Cruz Beach. The location is near the ocean side, steep rocky hills to the left and sand for days to the right. I ran down to the sand as fast as I can and without hesitation I laid my towel down upon the tiny grains and chips of rocks that the oceans might had turned into sand over the years. I took a moment to put my life on hold and gaze at what nature had to offer to me. I reflected upon all of the other places I could have been instead of standing with my toes curling in the warm sandy beach and smiled in appreciation of my situation. It was perfect weather out for a day at the beach. The clear sky didn’t have a single cloud to block the rays of the radiant sun. I could sense the feeling of ultra relaxation from the outstretched deep blue canopy above and the penetrating warmth that emanated from the sky and wrapped around my skin like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s night. Every once in a while a cool breeze would pass by and ease away the sun’s intense heat bath for brief moment. I could feel grains of sand...
