Writing Cuneiform

...Cuneiform and modern typing on a computer has similarities and differences. Both forms of writing revolutionized the society. For Mesopotamia, cuneiform made a big difference for them because they can record important events and important people in Mesopotamia. In modern time, typing was very important because if you make a mistake, you just have to click a button. And if you want to add something in the middle, instead of erasing you can just add it in. Out of the two, typing is easier. It is easier because you don’t need clay and it isn’t messy. If you make a mistake you can erase it easily. When the clay is dry and you made a mistake you have to start over. There are also differences between typing and cuneiform. For cuneiform it is longer to right and it is by hand. You need clay tablets. There is a stylus and symbols instead of letters. It is harder to correct and needs a lot of training. Cuneiform is wedge shaped and the tablet is sun dried on dried in a kiln. On the computer, you push buttons to get letters. It is a faster way to write. To print, you use ink and typing uses a keyboard. Although typing is better, it is also more expensive. You also use paper instead of clay to print. Typing uses electricity and you need little training. It is also easy to correct and faster send to people. Even though it is hard to write in cuneiform by looking for every letter it is fun doing it in on clay. Scribes in the ancient times must have had a lot of fun working with clay. I......

Tablet Computers

...Paper GS 1140 5 January, 2014 Paradigm Shift INTRODUCTION Tablet computers are small, thin, and convenient computers that will fit in the palm of your hand. They can be used for games, news, or work. They vary in size from the smaller 7 inch to the larger 17 inch models. The definition of a tablet computer from the pc-mag website is a general-purpose computer contained in a single panel. Its distinguishing characteristic is the use of a touch screen as the input device. Modern tablets are operated by fingers, and a stylus is an option, whereas earlier tablets required a stylus. (pcmag, 2013) SUMMARY OF KEY FINDINGS One impact of tablet technology is the use in education. I feel that information from any school book, dictionary, or encyclopedia at your fingers is a useful tool to have in education. The bulkiness of school books is non-existent with a tablet computer. I think it can be used as a powerful learning tool in and out of the classroom. Another impact of tablet technology would be in the workplace. You could have access to spreadsheets or inventory results at the palm of your hand. Access to these things could make your job a lot easier and more productive. Stopping work to look up information on a desktop would be irrelevant with a tablet on your person. Looking up the information on the fly would be a great time saver. Tablet technology in the medical field is another great way to utilize tablet computers portability. A physician could use it in......

Business Use of Tablets

...Business Use of Tablets In a society that is dominated by smart phones, laptops, computers and other various forms of technology, perhaps the most recent and developed device that has taken the world by storm is the tablet. Many people feel that a cell phone is limited in its abilities, and who wants to purchase a laptop that is two to three times the size and price of a tablet? A tablet is functional, reasonably priced, and a perfect device for an extremely wide spread demographic group. The amount of individuals that can benefit from the use of a tablet is large enough in itself, but adding to this list beyond individual use is rather simple. Many businesses and corporations have jumped on the tablet bandwagon, and for good reason. They increase efficiency, are optimal forms of communication, and are extremely effective in allowing certain tasks to be completed in a more professional and rapid manor. Of course, there would be an extremely detailed and confusing way to describe how tablets work, but there is also quite a simple explanation as well. Tablets are a bigger, faster, and more functional version of a smart phone. At the same time, they are smaller, lass expensive, but not as widely efficient as laptops and computers. They enable you to video chat, work on documents, have access to your email, take pictures, use various applications for entertainment purposes, and much more. You can surf the Internet, check your stock prices, tell what the weather will be for......

The iPhone isn't so much a phone as a replacement for a phone. That's an important distinction, because it's an early instance of what will become a common pattern. Many if not most of the special-purpose objects around us are going to be replaced by apps running on tablets. This is already clear in cases like GPSes, music players, and cameras. But I think it will surprise people how many things are going to get replaced. We funded one startup that's replacing keys. The fact that you can change font sizes easily means the iPad effectively replaces reading glasses. I wouldn't be surprised if by playing some clever tricks with the accelerometer you could even replace the bathroom scale. The advantages of doing things in software on a single device are so great that everything that can get turned into software will. So for the next couple years, a good recipe for startups will be to look around you for things that people haven't realized yet can be made unnecessary by a tablet app. In 1938 Buckminster Fuller coined the term ephemeralization to describe the increasing tendency of physical machinery to be replaced by what we would now call software. This tablet will be used by personnel for medical and administrative purposes throughout the hospital. Criteria for Consideration The following criteria have been considered as part of this evaluation: Operating System: There are many different options available in healthcare mobility solutions; however, the three most common operating systems in place today are MS Windows 10, iOS 9.x and Android 6.0. There are well-defined positives and negatives around each platform that must be carefully reviewed prior to making a decision. As operating system selection is primary to device selection, it is critical that this step in the selection criteria is well thought out. The Tablet

...THE TABLET With two hands grasping a thin stone tablet, Priam struggled to leap into the tree in complete silence. The branch swayed under his weight and rustled its leaves. Priam froze. Too much noise! Too much! He drew himself rigid. He refused to breathe. His heart hammered within his chest. He was close now, the tall gray mass peeking from the breaks in the leaves. His senses heightened as if he were hunting, but his knees trembled, his breaths shortened and grew louder against his will, and his instincts told him to flee. But Priam battled his instinct and sprang into the final tree. Priam perched upon a branch near the edge of the forest, eyes wide. Priam would not release his tablet, he never wished to abandon it from his strong grip, so he lowered himself onto the branch with one foot and swung the other over the branch until he sat with his legs dangling below him. The wall had not fled. And he could watch it. It was an enormous gray mass, climbing high into the sky so Priam could only see it through the canopy if he ventured to the thinnest edge of the forest. The wall never darted into its land of the Others, those that had driven his people into the forest long ago. Yet it threatened Priam, to flee, to disappear, to leave him alone. So Priam skulked toward it every time as not to awake it from its slumber. He had been successful today, and he could breathe again. As he stared at the wall, he lifted the tablet before him, his tongue wagging from the side of his......
