The culture of Hilton is diverse, respectful, hospitable as well as fun. In addition it creates an environment that employees feel valued. The diversity of an organization encompasses race, gender, ethnic group, age, personality, education, background and more. In regard to culture of the workplace, diversity involves how people perceive themselves as well as how they perceive others. Hilton promotes an environment that recognizes the differences of their employees. Diversity is not about pretending we are all the same, but acknowledging our differences in a positive way. This is an import and vital characteristic of a positive workplace culture. At the location I worked for specifically, diversity was easily experience. There are many departments within the hotel that require different levels of education as well as personalities. With so many departments working under one roof as a team, the hotel was extremely diverse.
In addition the culture is respectful. Weather between manager and staff, guest to staff, or department to department, respect is an expectation of the company. It is clearly outlined in the employee handbook as well as reinforced by management. Demonstrating respect and not tolerating disrespect are the largest ways the company shows it values respect. There are times when disrespect is experienced but it is the way that those situations are handled which makes it lasting and strong part of…...

...Organisational Culture Assignment 1 Organisational Climate and Culture: Untangling the nomological net Within recent decades, the study of previously well documented organisational conditions has become somewhat less transparent. Particularly, the research documenting organisational culture and organisational climate seem to contradict earlier methods and findings regarding these concepts, thereby creating an apparent similarity between two previously distinct notions (Denison, 1996). This paper aims to assess the concepts of culture and climate while addressing the similarities and differences between the two. Secondly, it will be determined whether these two concepts are fundamentally different or inherently the same, and the implications of this determination will be discussed. Throughout the documentation of early cultural perspectives, the distinction between organisational climate and culture was seemingly quite distinct (Denison, 1996). This was confirmed by Schwartz and Davis (1981, p. 32) when they explained that, “whatever culture is, it is not climate.” A clear distinction was found in the methodology used to assess each domain. In order to study culture, researchers employed qualitative research methods, while maintaining the view that cultures were subjective and distinctive within each organisational setting (Denison, 1996). Comparatively, the dominant method of studying organisational climate was quantitatively based with the primary purpose of generalising...

Culture and Diversity Assignment

...Early Childhood Education 01 July 2012 Culture and Diversity Webliography Assignment • Jones, T., (2005). Incorporate Diversity Into Your Classroom. Intervention In School & Clinic, 41 (1), 9-12. Retrieved from http://0-search.ebscohost.com.lasiii.losrios.edu/login.aspx?direct=true&db=trh&AN=17997021&site=ehost-live&scope=site This article has 20 relatively simple ways to incorporate diversity into the classroom. Some of the ideas were so simple they could be seamlessly integrated with other teaching that was already happening. Such as while learning about the traditional explorers from Spain, England, and Portugal; it would be a perfect time to learn about explorers from Africa, Mexico, or Norway. Another idea was to study games from other parts of the world and if the students seemed keen about one the games, the article suggested learning how to play the game and incorporate into the games already played. I chose this particular article over other articles for its simplicity and its approach to teaching diversity without actually drawing attention specifically to diversity education. Some of the other like minded articles were to complex for my simplemindedness and made it a point to teach diversity instead of incorporating it into existing learning. After reading the article I thought I could employ some of the ideas without much effort while playing with my grandchildren. • Barta, J., & Winn, T. (1996). Involving parents in......

Culture

...Working Across Border Assignment Culture The word culture is not a foreign word to people in this world as wherever they are and whatever they do, they will always find culture in their house, their surroundings and maybe around the world. But really, what is culture? According to Moran, Harrin and Moran in Managing Culture Differences (2011, pg. 10), culture is a distinctly human means of adapting to circumstances and transmitting this surviving skill and knowledge to the following generations. It gives people a sense of who they are, of belonging, of how they should behave and of what they should be doing. Culture also impacts behavior, morale and productivity at work and includes standards and patterns that influence the attitudes and actions of a company. Culture is stated to be changing but very slow in motion. Based on the definition above, culture can be pointed as the ultimate source of human conflict as there are many cultures which are adapted in this world and these different cultures resulted to different types of politics, economics, ideologies, arts, beliefs an etc. If people, businesses and countries have the same culture, they will get along and come together. However, if they have different culture, they will not manage well together and possibly have a conflict as they all think that they are standing on what is right and the other parties are wrong. As a global person who works across border, one should understand the different cultures in this......

Culture and Media Assignment

...Culture & Media Assignment Comm-1050/TEACHERS NAME INTRODUCTION Media has changed an incredible amount over decades and even every year. The media will continue to grow unless people stop using it, which let’s be honest, will never happen. In my life I have seen how the media has grown, changed, and progressed. There were parts of the media that really drew me in as if I was a part of it while other parts did not have any interest on me. At times there were even some median that I did not even know was out there. Culture and media had significant changes from when I was in Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, High School, and now College. What I found interesting as I looked back was not only did the culture and the media change, but what interested me and the media that caught my attention also changed. PRESCHOOL & ELEMENTARY MEDIA In my preschool years I don’t recall the culture and the media having an influence on me, I don’t even recall the media at all. The media to me was my family and my friends. Going to school and putting on school plays and productions. Sports were the biggest culture and media that was affecting me during this time. Whenever Halloween came around if I wasn’t dressed as a professional dirt bike rider or as a professional baseball player then I wasn’t a “cool” kid. I did believe that if I dressed the part then that portrayed who I actually was or could be. When elementary came my feelings changed a bit, but not much. During......

Corporate culture is significant in that it “influences the behavior of everyone within an organization and, if carefully crafted, can have a significant positive effect on organizational success”. Louis Gerstner (2002) comments “I came to see, in my time at IBM, that culture isn’t just one aspect of the game-it is the game. In the end, an organization is nothing more than collective capacity of its people to create value. Vision, strategy, marketing, financial management- any management system, in fact- can set you on right path and carry you for a while. But no enterprise- whether business, government, health care or any area of human endeavor – will succeed over the long haul if those element aren’t part of its DNA.” The culture of the company can......

Assignment 2: Analyzing World Cultures

...Assignment 2: Analyzing World Cultures I viewed a Japanese made anime/cartoon film called "Tekken" it was an anime video from Japan. I need another Japanese made (genuine human performing actors/actresses) motion picture called "009-1". It was somewhat similar to a "Kill Bill" sort of motion picture, aside from in Japanese and considerably more violent occasions and significantly all the more battling, that was intense rather than funny. There was a ton of sexual expression in the film that I saw. A great deal more exotic than how American motion pictures are made. I have seen a great deal of significance of family in their way of life taking into account look into and taking into account the motion pictures that I observe today. It appears their way of life their kin are exceptionally centered on where individuals originate from. In both of the motion pictures I saw individuals are exceptionally worried with their folks and their family and general and discovering them and knowing where they originated from and being a part of a family. They are extremely unstable about being called awful names by other individuals or took a gander at as terrible people. I saw that the men in the motion pictures , particularly them two the toon motion picture and the human performing artists motion picture them two indicated men were furious and now and again look down on ladies as "powerless" physically. I saw that the ladies had exceptionally solid parts to demonstrate......
