The company should decide whether to go ahead with the Citic Tower II project or not. The following alternatives can be used to address the problem: NPV: Net present value (NPV) is defined as the total present value (PV) of a time series of cash flows. It is a standard method for using the time value of money to appraise long-term projects. The method is used for capital budgeting, and widely throughout economics, it measures the excess or shortfall of cash flows, in present value terms, once financing charges are met.

OPTION PRICING: The buyer of a call option gets the right to buy the underlying the underlying asset at affixed price, where as the buyer of a put option obtains the right to sell the underlying asset at a fixed price. Alternatives to the binomial model In the binomial option pricing model, the underlying asset and risk free lending or borrowing are combined to create a portfolio that had the same cash flows as the option being valued; we called this portfolio the replicating portfolio. Although the binomial model provides the intuitive feel for the determinants of the option value, it requires a large number of inputs in terms of expected future prices at each node. As we can make time periods shorter in the binomial model, we can make assumptions about asset prices. We can assume that price changes becomes smaller as time periods approaches zero leading to continuous price process. THE BLACK – SCHOLES MODEL: When the price process is continuous, that is price changes become smaller as time period gets shorter, the binomial model for pricing options converges on the Black – Scholes model. The model allows us to estimate the value of any option using a small number of inputs, and it has shown to be remarkably robust in valuing many listed options. The Black-Scholes model is used to calculate a theoretical call price (ignoring…...

...Heritage Conservation of Merewether Tower & its impact on urban morphology Qurat-ul-Ain Rehman Abstract The past should never be forgotten as it constitutes an important part of the civilization of mankind. Historic monuments may contain some bitter and sweet memories therefore it should be preserved for future generations to know the life their ancestors were living. Although important, many historic sites are usually torn down in order to make room for development but there are people who believe that these sites should be saved from the hammer. Conserving these sites takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the local authorities but it can transform the morphology of the region and reward the developers for their hard work. Karachi was home to British troops in the 19th century and is therefore rich in Victorian era buildings. Most of these buildings are in a bad shape but the government is working to preserve them. Although the pace of redevelopment is slow, the fact that work is going on gives a person relief that the historic buildings of the city will be preserved. One such building is the Merewether tower; this iconic structure is one of few structures that are in a good condition, but sources claim that from the inside, it is slowly being degraded. Once the gateway to the city, it has been forgotten by many although its name is very common. The objective of this research is to document the existing conditions of the tower and the surroundings so that......

...October 6, 2012 CRW150 - Introduction to Creative Writing - Class # 27071 Doris Patton Midterm Part 1: Creative Story The Stone Tower 1 “Can you get a clear shot Draz?” asked Tankus. “If he takes a step forward I can,” answered Draz. Daylight was disappearing in the forest as dusk began to set, but there was still enough light for the two friends to observe the movements of the tracker who had been silently tailing them for a good part of the day. “What kind of tracker is he?” said Tankus. “He looks like some kind of rat or something.” The tracker was hunched over now, trying to pick up their scent which he had lost several yards back in the brush. Skin like beaten old leather stretched over his long thin bones giving him a scare-crow like appearance, but it was the long, pointed nose set between black, beady eyes that made him look like a rat. He edged forward suddenly picking up their scent again. "Fwoooosh!" Draz’s laser arrow found its mark in the tracker’s temple. “Okay that’s cool,” said Tankus, “we know he’s been with us for several miles, so where do you suppose the rest of his entourage is? Where are the meat and the brains that sent out this dog?” “I don’t know,” said Draz, “I just hope we have enough fire power to keep them back. I don’t know how much more time Kalem needs to break into that old place.” Tankus raked his blonde goatee with his long nimble fingers, trying to add things up in his mind quickly. He was the planner of the group......

The “classification” that assigns “Test Negative” to every score has FP rate of 0 and TP rate of 0, represented as point (0, 0). The “classification” that assigns “Test Positive” to every value has FP rate of 1 and TP rate of 1, represented as the point (1, 1). Joining all known (x, y) points by straight lines, the area under the resulting empirical ROC curve is known as the Area Under the Curve or AUC. The AUC ranges from 0.5, for a test no better than chance, to 1, for a perfect test. The Area Under the Curve is calculated by the summation of the average height multiplied by the width, as follows: ! ! ...School of Engineering Power Tower 12/11/2015 Engr 469 Fall Semester Instructor: Professor A. S. (Ed) Cheng Team: Sanjeev Gupta Abit Baral Abstract: In this article different aspects of Power Tower has been investigated. Power Tower or Heliostat power plant is one of the most promising and affordable Concentrated Solar Power technology. Different parts of the Power tower namely heliostats, central receiver, heat transfer fluid, turbine and storage tanks has been examined. Also current situation of Power Tower have been researched and compared with other Solar technology. Introduction: Power towers have a potential of being one of the lowest cost and environmental friendly solution to our power needs. Today power tower systems are often considered to be the most promising Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) technology for the future. In power tower concentrating solar power systems, numerous large, flat, suntracking mirrors, known as heliostats, focus sunlight onto a receiver at the top of a tall tower. A heattransfer fluid heated in the receiver is used to generate steam, which, in turn, is used in a conventional turbine generator to produce electricity. Some power towers use water/steam or molten salt as the heat transfer fluid. Different part of these types of power plant are analyzed in detail below. Components of CSP power tower. 1. Heliostats 2. Tower with receiver 3. ......

...Power Tower in an Open Pit Mine: called a “Pit Power Tower” (PPT). | | By Jonathan Gwiazda and Francis A. DiBella | 1. Introduction1.2 Problem Statement The number of people and the amount of technology in the world are on the rise. People and technology both require energy. This rise in population and technology has led to a corresponding increase in energy demand. This trend is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. The three primary methods of power production today are 1) fossil fuels, such as coal or natural gas, 2) hydroelectric dams, and 3) nuclear power. The undeveloped potential of each of these power methods is restricted by either the associated environmental impact or by the limits of the resource itself. Current methods of power production are in need of supplementation. An ideal source would be renewable and have minimal environmental impact. This paper presents one such method.1.3 Overview and Scope < A href="http://ljb.advertserve.com/servlet/click/zone?zid=29&pid=2&lookup=true&position=1" target="_top">< IMG src="http://ljb.advertserve.com/servlet/view/banner/image/zone?zid=29&pid=2&position=1" height="240" width="120" hspace="0" vspace="0" border="0" alt="Click Here!">< /A> | The paper begins with the background and description of the proposed power source, its advantages, and a tabular outline of three example sites. Concerns for each component of the system are briefly considered. The paper ends with......

...Applied Statistics Microsoft Excel Decomposition may reduce appeal emphasis on applications. Flow charts help make the analysis decision by identifying technique, computing statistics, and interpreting results. Associated data set accompanies the set purports to build a excel spreadsheet that discovers formula, illustrates the parameters, observes dynamic graphs and simulations that recodes, edits, validate, charts, and automatically links equations, data, and formulas to recalculate the data analysis. Excel recognizes statistical capability conjunction that carries out complex algorithms that implement correlated data columns. Excel quickly analyzes and interprets information filtered into a spreadsheet so the process is much easier then working out these formulas by hand. Excel spreadsheets create charts, graphs, and filters data all into one. Excel uses all of the basic mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. Fractions and decimals are just as common for interpretation data into a excel spreadsheet. An advantage about excel is you can place any formula into the spreadsheet whether in ascending or descending order and using the same formula, it will automatically compute the answer for the next equation. Another advantage is if information is inaccurate, you can go back and check your work with just a click, unlike using y calculations or by hand you have to erase so much and start all over again, which could be time......
