Assignment 2: Creating a Use Case

Use case for CSMS marketing subsystem

(RMO CSMS Marketing Subsystem)
Overview of Diagram
The overview of usage requirement of any system is very important and a use case diagram plays an important role as it can be used to present the system clearly to the top management. Use case diagram consists of several use cases and the actors. Several elements of use cases are as follows:

Use Cases
Use cases depict the sequence of actions or steps that are taken place in the system by several actors to achieve a goal. Margaret Rouse stated, “A use case contains all system activities that have significance to the users. A use case can be thought of as a collection of possible scenarios related to a particular goal.” In the case of RMO CSMS Marketing Subsystem, several different use cases include: * Add/update product information: This use case allows the users have the ability to add and update the information about different products. * Add/update accessory package: This use case allows users to add and update any accessory package. * Add/update promotion: This use case allows the users to be able to add and update the promotion. * Add/update business partner link: This use case allows the users to be able to add and update business partner links.
Actors
Actors interact with the system and these can be external system, any organization, or any individual. These can be represented as a stick figure. In case of RMO CSMS Marketing Subsystem, several different actors include the following: * Marketing. And * Merchandising.
In the use case diagram, actors interact with the use cases through a link which is known as association (Elements of a Use Case Diagram). The association is represented with the help of a solid line between the actors and the use cases (UML 2 Use Case Diagrams: An Agile Introduction).
According to the text in www.e-education.psu.edu, an actor portrays any entity that perform certain roles in a given system. The different roles the actor represents are the actual business roles of users in a given system. Actors are the individuals that interact with the system, so that the use goals can be accomplished. In order to specify the role of a user, actor plays an important role in any system. In RMO CSMS Marketing Subsystem, there are two actors and they are: * Marketing, and * Merchandising.
Using association links, the marketing actor interact with add/update product information, add/update promotion, and add/update business partner link use cases. The merchandising actor interacts with add/update product information, and add/update accessory package use cases. The actors can interact with only those use cases; to which they have an association link. Likewise, in RMO CSMS Marketing Subsystem, actor marketing has an association links to add/update product information, add/update promotion, add/update business partner link and the merchandising actor has an association links to add/update product information, and add/update accessory packages.
System boundary A system boundary defines the scope of what a system will be. A system cannot have infinite functionality. There are limits to every system and they are defined by the use of system boundaries. The system boundary is usually shown as a rectangle spanning all othe use cases in the system. (www.e-education.psu.edu) As for RMO CSMS Marketing subsystem they have not defined the system boundary.

Describe the industry and explain the general pattern of change of the particular market model. The restaurant Industry in Greenville, SC currently seems to be a monopolistic competition. Monopolistic Competition means that   there are many small firms, no barriers of entry, each firm is convinced that their brand id better than the other and there is not a homogenius product. The pattern of change seems to be moving from left to right. Greenville started with a few restaurants and continues to grow each month. The more research that is done, the closer the scale is shifting from left to right.  Oligapoly means that few a few firms produce 80% of the market, products can be very different and strategic behavior is at play. Strategic behavior is at play because competition is the value, it can bring benefits and it can also lead to violation if the market is not watched closely.    2. Hypothesize the basic short-run and long-run behaviors of the model in the industry you have chosen in a “market economy.” The short-run behaviors in the restaurant industry would be the reactions to inflation and deflation within the economy. ...Silvia Chapa Dr. Karani 2-20-2014 Assignment 2 1. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Smarty Pants and Donorschoose both a 10 in their efforts to build credibility and trust. Both organizations used the eight techniques for engendering credibility, legitimacy, and trust. The fact that Smarty Pants advocates for brain health in children impresses me. It is great to see an organization put forth the effort to supply a vitamin that benefits children in receiving their correct micronutrients to support brain health. As stated in the textbook, “All children benefit from appropriate daily supplements of three micronutrients that support brain health – Omega 3, DHA, and Vitamin D. Until now, these three micronutrients could be bought separately, but were not available in a single table.” Smarty Pants was able to put all three micronutrients plus more in a single table for children. Thus, Smarty Pants having pediatricians approve helps their case and builds trust with their consumers. As for Donorschoose, I am impressed with how they display their live feedback in real time. This shows that the organization has nothing to hide and is willing to let the world view what everyone is thinks about them. This allows people who are interested in donating a perspective of what other people in the world have experienced with the organization or what they feel towards them, allowing more than only the bias opinion of people who are strictly working for the organization or......

In January the area was hit by a large snow storm while you were vacationing in the Bahamas. Many of the hospital staff who provided patient care called out from work on the 3-11 and 11-7 shifts. Despite efforts from the nurse managers to get relief staff, only one nurse agreed to come in. As a result, the patient units were understaffed and health care personnel on day shift were required to remain on their assigned unit until they were relieved from duty. During the course of this occurrence several patients sustained minor injuries from falls out of bed and one patient was given the incorrect medication, resulting in death. The nurse on duty left the hospital to buy dinner at the corner Wendy’s Restaurant. After one year, the families of these patients sued the hospital on behalf of their deceased relatives, and you are one of the parties mentioned in the suit. The hospital refused liability, stating that: the patients who sustained a fall were awake, oriented and experienced no limitation in mobility; the patient who was given the incorrect medication died not from staff negligence, but from an unidentified allergic reaction to a food substance and had no history of allergies. Reason for Method Used The reason I chose the Functional Job Analysis as my method was due to its close ties with the USA government run DOT and Canada’s NOC. These close ties allowed for a secondary review of job descriptions already done in order to evaluate the job level that best suited my role. The main quality that attracted me to the Functional Job analysis was the simplicity of the......
