Channing Tatum

Channing Matthew Tatum was born on April 26th, 1980 in Cullman, Alabama. He is the oldest of eight children. Channing spent his childhood going between his town and Mississippi to spend summers with his grandparents (imdb.com). He grew up playing football all his life. By the time he was in ninth grade he was sent to a military boarding school. He became actively involved in football. Channing even earned an athletic scholarship to continue with his sports skill in West Virginia at Glenville State College (channingtatumunwrapped.com). Although Channing thought he had his life planned out playing football, he was wrong. I chose Channing Tatum because he’s a great actor and good role model. Playing football and the routine he had to carry out in order to maintain his scholarship just wasn’t for him (imdb.com). He made a decision to leave all he had achieved behind and start a new chapter in his life. Channing always had a passion for dancing. He started to focus on that. Channing Tatum surprisingly passed the audition looking for a back up dancer for the music video “She Bangs” by Ricky Martin (imdb.com). This led him to earn a job as a choreographer in Miami. He then met a model that introduced him to some modeling agencies. Channing didn’t really see a career in modeling, but after a few shoots he began to like it. This opened so many great opportunities for Channing. He later joined Major Models in New York City. His modeling was a success. He would appear in different magazines, fashion shows, and commercials. This now brought him to get more attention from the public. With his career becoming more successful, he crossed over to acting. Channing made his way to land his first performance in an episode of “CSI Miami” in the year of 2002. In 2004 he moved on to the big screen production to film “Coach Carter”. This movie grossed over 67 million dollars (imbd.com). As the years moved on, Channing Tatum became more successful and started to star in movies such as “She’s The Man”, “Step Up”, “Dear Jon”, “The Vow”, and so much more. I chose this actor because he has an interesting story and he’s a great actor. The public thinks that Channing Tatum is the “Sexiest Man Alive” according to People Magazine. Everybody loves and adores this charming actor. Although Channing Tatum didn’t make it as a football player, he became very successful in life doing what he loves. He has millions of fans supporting him and what he does. Channing lives a successful life with his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum with their daughter born 2013 in London, England. Channing Tatum will always be known for his great acting, film production, dancing, and modeling.

Art Tatum Holy Toledo

...Waller was a magnificent pianist. A true jazz great. Wherever he played people would come from miles around to see him. So when one night Art Tatum wlked in the club where Fats was playing, and Fats responded to his presence by saying "God is in the house tonight" it meant something. Art Tatum was not just great, he was transcendent. Praise for Art Tatum abounds. In 'Art Tatum ; The Art Of Jazz Piano' (3)Les Paul struggles to express his awe..." I can take a piano roll, and slow it down... real slow, and then you still can't figure out how he did it!" Raised right here in Toledo, Art became an undeniable Jazz legend. As his prowess was unleashed upon the planet people walked away from the piano and chose different instruments with which to express themselves. Many of these same artists exhibited greatness in their own right. But not on the piano, not after hearing Art. Jazz is an American Art form. We ought to have pride in it. Art is a hometown hero. We ought to have pride in him. Well, he was from Toledo and so am I, so I thought I'ld go have a look at the historic landmark where Art spent the bulk of his childhood. Take some pictures and just sort of soak in the vibe. I could not have been more dissapointed. Mrs. Ernistine Allen, a neighbor of the Tatums', has said "this was a respectable, middle- class neighborhood at the time," and that "Considering the times, they lived well- they had a......

...embracing the fact that the protesters weren’t violent. The other problem I had with the movie involved how the activists were portrayed. It made it seem as if these people were essentially nomads who just traveled around the world fighting these corporations and doing nothing else. I am all for protesting and standing for what you support but Battle in Seattle portrayed the protesters as protesting just because everyone else is doing it and to pick a side. Django, one of the characters seemed more focused on the WTO’s ruling against endangered species while Jay, seemed more focused on the revenge on the WTO’s for his brother’s death. Overall although I didn’t quite agree with the way they portrayed the WTO I quite liked the movie (Channing Tatum and all) and I liked how through the movie the producers could make the people watching have such strong emotions towards the movie and the WTO....

Hr Diversity

...1.) I like the work of Tatum and her students. I think Tatum try to teach teacher to understand how to motivate all students, even those typically left out, learn how to implement the Equity Framework, enabling you to close the achievement and eliminate it permanently. Tatum believes in straight talk about race, particularly in the classroom. Tatum also show how to create an inclusive and safe environment for both teachers and students. She examined multiple classrooms, schools, and districts where the achievement gap has been successfully eliminated. Tatum want to explore that students of color face a gap between their own culture and the culture of school. The gap emerges at the earliest phases of school where students’ pre-existing knowledge is not honored in the school environment and students are “set-up” to fail. Students of color end up behind white students at the earliest stages of school. Students of color therefore feel a conflict between their home racial and ethnic identity and the identity that is required to be successful in school. Inclusion of race-related content in a college course identified three sources of resistance to learning about racism: race as taboo topic; myth of meritocracy; and denial of personal connection to racism. Strategies for reducing resistance include a safe classroom climate; opportunity for self-generated knowledge; model of racial identity development; and empowering students as change agents. The question of this is “Why do we......

Viola is able to break many stereotypes, proving that she can hold her own when it comes to things such as romance, athletics, beauty, and education. By breaking these stereotypes, she is showing girls of all ages that they too can be just like her, bending the rules that are set forth by society and becoming their own person without fear of judgment from others. Effective time management can reduce one’s stress level and help him/her to be a more successful student (Channing L. Bete, “Time Management for College Students.”). By becoming aware of how one spends his/her time, he/she will be able to evaluate how efficiently he/she is using time. There a number of possible solutions to managing time wisely. First, the student can make a list of all of the things he/she has to accomplish along with how much time to dedicate to each activity. Secondly, he/she can use a calendar/planner to divide the activities into daily routines, activities such as assignment due dates, deadlines for projects, exam dates, etc.(Channing L. Bete, “Time Management for College Students.”). Third, he/she can avoid interruptions by finding quiet places to do homework, projects, or assignments (Channing L. Bete, “Time Management for College Students.”). Fourth the student should avoid procrastination (Channing L. Bete, “Time Management for College Students.”). Waiting until the last minute to complete assignment will only make matters worse. If the student continuously puts off assignments, they will eventually build up and he/she will probably do poorly because he/she has tons of work to complete and not enough time. Last but not least, the student needs to schedule some free time/ breaks (Channing L. Bete, “Time Management for College......

Unitarian Universalist

...Philadelphia to draft the Universalist declaration of faith (Hemeyer, 2010). Another notable early leader is Elhanan Winchester (1751-1797) (Hemeyer, 2010). He was an intellectual, and helped to spread the Universalist message by utilizing his skill in writing (Hemeyer, 2010). He also gave credibility to the Universalists (Hemeyer, 2010). A Unitarian by the name of Hosea Ballou (1771-1852) blended universalism in ways that prefigured the future merger between the two groups (Hemeyer, 2010). The first American attempt to develop a coherent theology along Universalist lines was Ballou’s “Treatise on the Atonement” (Hemeyer, 2010). He became the pastor of the Second Universalist Church in Boston, and worked closely with William Ellery Channing (Hemeyer, 2010). Channing later became known as the father of American Unitarianism (Hemeyer, 2010). During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries universalism spread slowly (Hemeyer, 2010). However it was successful in rural and frontier areas (Hemeyer, 2010). Universalism had become known as a liberalized and universalized form of Christianity by the mid-1990s (Hemeyer, 2010). It remained this way until its eventual merge with Unitarianism (Hemeyer, 2010). The other religion that contributed to what we know today as Unitarian Universalist are the Unitarians. Unitarians reacted to other elements of traditional Christian teaching such as the doctrine that God is a trinity, formalized by the Council of Nicaea in 325 C.E. (Hemeyer, 2010).......

How to Get Out of a Bad Date

...to be careful when you meet someone online and then see each other in real life because not everything seems like his profile picture or his bio. But we are very stubborn woman and we always learn the hard way. Well that was what happened to me and it starts with when we both agreed to finally meet. The day when I met him in person I seriously needed to reevaluate everything and say, “On second thought, I’m not really into online dating anymore”. Before my eyes was a man about four feet seven, and I am a five feet eight female, the irony is real. I surely couldn’t tell him in the face that he was a lying, ugly, and old man when it clearly said in his bio he was 24, and I am 21 YEAR OLD! In his profile picture he had a resemblance of Channing Tatum, but here in front of me he resembles papa smurf. I’m no model but I have to admit, I am easy on the eyes, with my blonde silky hair, and charming personality, but enough about me and my gracious good looks. He then motions for me to go inside the restaurant we are meeting at, which is McDonalds by the way, and of course he picked it. And the creepiest part, he couldn’t stop staring at me, and he had some sort of allergies which had him sneezing every five minutes, and I couldn’t eat my cheeseburger in peace. He kept saying jokes that were old as his soul and I kept awkwardly chuckling. That was it, I needed to figure out my game plan, my list of excuses, and a well thought out exit on how to get out of this bad date....

Unexploded Bomb in Human Body

...Gerald Angel was one of the soldiers in the humvee truck that got hit by the RPG missiles. He got hit by metal shrapnel from one of the RPG’s hitting the truck. I picked three virtues for him and they were: courage, patience, and Integrity. The gunman in the humvee was Private Channing Maas. Private Channing Maas has a RPG sticking out of him. Gerald Angel which all the crew called him “Doc” stayed with him even though his life was in danger. This would fall under courage. The other virtue I picked was patience and the Doc had a lot of patience to sit by Private Maas even though he was also injured by the shrapnel from other RPG. The final virtue I picked for the Doc was integrity. The Doc had strong moral principles. He stated that he would not leave him no matter what. He had a lot of empathy as well. Based off of these I would put the Doc in the self-discipline category Another person in the video clip was John Collier the chief officer on the flight med chopper. The three virtues I picked for Collier were caring, sympathy, and mercifulness. He had sympathy with Private Maas because of the situation he was in, even though it is against orders to transport Maas because he is considered a live bomb and could blow up a five million dollar helicopter and kill 7 other soldiers in the chopper he decided to transport him. He knew if he didn’t Maas will die. With Collier being in charge of his med crew he would not transport Maas unless the whole crew agreed and new the risks of...

Body Image

...expansive time in the spotlight. Because of their fame and the inherently humane desire for attention and belongingness (usually in effect during adolescent years), it is common for teenage females to seek a body image close to this. However, this sort of body image is not easy to achieve and might be easier for those that are genetically pre-disposed. As for those who are not so genetically fortunate, there are individuals who starve themselves or become bulimic to achieve that particular body image. I find that the media’s ability to snag anyone and make them famous (think “Alex from Target”) is a cruel yet legal tool that can be used to control the public. While the male body image has not changed and is rather safe to achieve (Channing Tatum, Tyler Lautner), a changing female body image is something that can be an indirect risk to the public not just for aspiring females, but males as well....

Data Redundancy

...comes to the function of a database. The presence of duplicated data can often have an adverse effect on the function of the system, resulting in returning information in response to system queries that is less than helpful. One of the key functions of data management identification of duplicated data and the removal of those duplications (Tatum, 2015). The potential for data redundancy is found in just about any type of database program. Programs that are considered flat, such as spreadsheets, and rely on manual entry of data are particularly susceptible to the duplication of information that may lead to complications when it comes to retrieving the information desired. Relational style databases, such as sales contact databases, often include processes that help to minimize the chances for unintentional duplication, such as the creation of two different contact files on the same contact associated with the same company. Even with the use of system checks to help reduce the incidence of data redundancy, there is still the potential for issues to occur, making it necessary to periodically engage in the task of data cleanup within a database (Tatum, 2015). At best, data redundancy means that the database is littered with information that is not essential but poses no real threat to the ability to find the data when and as needed. At worst, the presence of the duplicated data slows down the essential functions of the database and can complicate the process of using the......

...by repeatedly showing scenes with money whether it being strapped to a hooker or thrown off a boat. The use of money symbolises power in the film and presents what money can do to change a person’s life. In the trailer the men make reckless decisions and act abnormally. This is shown in the film trailer by the quick scenes and fast action shots. The speed of the different shots symbolises the frantic life the characters have. Another media text I analysed was the GQ magazine cover featuring Channing Tatum for December 2012. Throughout many GQ covers I explored it was clear that GQ magazine present men with an appealing body image showing them have a good sense of style. In this issue Tatum is presented as very stylish and formal through the clothes he is wearing. The smart modern suit and buttoned up blazer symbolises Channing Tatum as being very smart and shows him taking pride in his appearance. The medium shot used on the front cover of the magazine allows the reader to see Channing Tatum’s upper half of the body, and his facial expressions. This is very effective because it gives the reader a better angle to see what he’s wearing and his body language. The language used in the GQ magazine and advertisements in men’s magazines, is found to construct and represent specific types of masculine identity. Racism and Its Affects

...devastating effects of racism on people of color, as well as whites. “Racism, like other forms of oppression, is not only a personal ideology based on racial prejudice, but a system involving cultural messages and institutional policies and practices as well as beliefs and actions of individual” (Tatum, pg. 9). As a result of this system, it leaves the oppressed at a great disadvantage in society. This includes “access to social, cultural, and economic resources and decision making” (Rothenberg, 2007). In order for change to come about and for the American society to reach racial inequality, we first have to acknowledge the problem openly, which our society has yet to do. In this paper I am going to analyze the meaning of racism and how it affects both people of color and whites. In doing so, I am going to explore how racism impacts one’s racial identity, using my life experiences as an example. I will also demonstrate how racism leads to prejudice and discrimination and provide examples of these. I will close the paper with solutions and ideas to improve our communities and our society as a whole. Racism Defined Racism is defined as a system of advantage based on race (Tatum 1997). In America whites have control over resources such as jobs and education. This gives them the power to be racists toward others. Because people of color do not have this power, they are not able to be racist towards whites. Many whites would not consider......
