...The Extent of Human Resource Management Robert Granados Business 303 Eboni LaMar January 25, 2012 The competition for talent in the US has intensified. With other countries stepping up to the plate to take business from top producing US corporations and closing in on our gross domestic product, it’s essential for our business organizations to have high producing employees in order to keep us competitive. We depend highly on Human Resource Management to hire and maintain an adequate staff within these places. Prior to my research on this subject, I had little knowledge of the extent to which HRM impacts a company. In this paper I will discuss: the benefits of having a sounds HRM department, the many working parts as well as how I may use my newfound knowledge to achieve organizational goals in the future. Managers today must have a sound understanding of human resources. In order to reach operational goals, they are dependent upon the people who work beneath them to perform properly. Failure to perform is a direct reflection of those in charge. Therefore it’s vital for the best and brightest to be chosen during the personnel selection process. The first step before any interviewing can take place is the job analysis phase. During this time, it’s necessary for organizations to analyze their overall goals......

...Abstract This paper reviewed the literature on the relationship between human resource management (HRM) and the issue of diversity. HRM is responsible for providing equal opportunities, and resolving the issues that arise due to diversity. Positive impacts were observed where organizations promoted learning environment. It also highlights different strategies that could be applied for effective diversity management. On the other hand, a need to act sensitively towards employees of diverse background was discussed, while providing them with growth opportunities could help in increasing productivity. Issue statement Human Resource Management (HRM) covers different aspects of an organization, from the recruitment of its employees, to the management of all works, and the problem solving issues that are directly affecting the organizations’ employees. ...Reflective Paper on Human Resource Management The Human Resources (HR) Department is an important aspect of any organization. The HR Department is not effective or productive without capable management. Human Resources Management (HRM) is responsible for numerous activities such as the HR development of the organization, complying with EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) guidelines, handling planning, recruiting and selection of employees, providing those employees with compensation and benefits, managing employee and labor relations, and dealing with the health and safety issues within the organization as well as its employees. Effective HRM focuses on being action-oriented, people oriented, and future oriented (Ivancevich, 2010). Many areas which HRM deals with are mandatory and regulated by the federal government with very little room for negotiations. EEO criteria’s, offering compensation and benefits, honoring employee and labor relations and even some health and safety concerns are all such functions which every organization must deliver in accordance to jurisdictions of higher governing bodies. EEO has implications for almost every activity in HRM. No other regulatory area affects HRM as does EEO. EEO programs are implemented by employers to prevent employment discrimination in the workplace or to take remedial action to offset employment discrimination (Ivancevich, 2010). Currently all organizations must produce in print that they are not discriminating......

ABSTRACT: Various attempts have been made towards tracing the historical development of the discipline of Human Resource Management (HRM). However, these initiatives have largely been concentrated on certain specific periods of time and experiences of specific countries and regions such as Australia, the USA, the UK and Asia (Nankervis et.al, 2011; Kelly, 2003; Ogier, 2003). This paper attempts to document the entire history of the discipline of Human Resource Management from a holistic perspective. The evolution and development of HRM will be traced right from the pre-historic times through to the postmodern world. Major characteristics in the evolution and development of HRM will also be examined and documented. Human Resource Management Paper

...Chapter 1 Introduction 1. Background Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) has been, and remains, one of the most powerful and influential ideas to have emerged in the field of business and management during the past twenty-five years. Policy makers at government level have drawn upon the idea in order to promote ‘high performance workplaces’ and ‘human capital management’. Within business corporations, the idea that the way in which people are managed could be one of, if not the most crucial factor in the whole array of competitivenessinducing variables, has become a widely accepted proposition during this period. Many management consultancy firms – both large and small – have built substantial businesses by translating the concept into frameworks, methodologies and prescriptions. And, not least, academics have analysed, at considerable length, the meaning, significance and the evidence base for the ideas associated with SHRM. The central idea – broadly stated – is that while for much of the industrial age, ‘labour’ was treated as an unfortunate ‘cost’, it became possible to view it in an entirely different light; as an ‘asset’. Economists and accountants routinely classified labour as one the main ‘variable costs’. Accordingly, procedures and managerial systems were aligned with this view. Labour was seen as plentiful and dispensable. Little thought was given to its recruitment, little investment was made in its......

...Identify the types of errors that can occur in a non-integration performance management, compensation, benefit, and payroll system. There are many issues or error that can occur in a non-intergrated performance management system. One error that can occur is that the system data may not match up with the management compensation, payroll or benefits. The system will need to intergrated in order to ensure that information is properly used. Discuss how an HRIS can reduce the errors and build a more stable relationship with employees. A good HRIS can reduce the errors and guild a more stable relationship with employees by store data that can be retrieved by the employee who can check for any possible errors that may occur. It would allow for the employee to edit information and ensure that accurate information is being stored. If employee can not edit the information themselves, then they can request for information to be corrected. Discuss how an HR professional can justify the cost of an HRIS for this purpose. The fact that the most important parts of the HRIS is built to access data from the state and federal agencies for compliance purposes, data for payroll, compensation and benefits for each employee updates the entire file with one entry and provide reports that are consistent saving an incredible amount of time to the HR professional is justification for having a  HRIS system.
