The best gift that someone can give me is honest affirmation (don’t patronize me) and honest correction. (For more on this idea read this post). Not everyone has the “right” to speak into my life this way. This right is earned by the demonstration of the second characteristic… •Love – Will you love me when I’m at the top of my game? Will you love me when I’m in a slump? Love that transcends the “seasons” of life is the “stuff” that genuine friendship is made of! Some people call this “unconditional love.” •Service - Will you help me? Friends help one another. These last few weeks we’ve been blessed by our friends who have helped with meals, prep for the yard sale, words of encouragement, babysitting, etc. To all of you, we are grateful to have friends like you. Thank you for your help. •Loyalty - Will you “stick it out” with me? Will you defend me when I’m being attacked? Will you stick up for me when I’m not there? Boldface text is used to highlight the differences between Kohlberg’s model and the revised models. hypothetical moral dilemmas: either standard Kohlbergian dilemmas modified in some way or new “non-Kohlbergian” dilemmas. As examples, Kohlberg’s dilemmas were modified by substituting for Heinz a homosexual man whose boyfriend was sick from AIDS and by asking participants to imagine themselves as the protagonists in the dilemmas. New dilemmas involved decisions about whether to help a victim in an emergency, whether to keep a promise to drive friends home after becoming intoxicated, whether to engage in prostitution, whether to disclose damning information during the sale of a business, and whether to support free trade when it went against business interests (see Krebs, Vermeulen, Carpendale, & Denton, 1991, for a more elaborate description of these dilemmas). In studies comparing stage scores on Kohlberg’s test with stage scores on other dilemmas, it is imperative that the other dilemmas be scored reliably.3 High interrater reliability was achieved in all studies. 1987b; Lockwood, 1975; Smetana, 1982; Walker, de Vries, & Trevethan, 1987). Friend

...To everybody, friend plays an important part in our life, so topics which involve in friend become more and more common. There is a debate that whether people who have different interests and personalities cannot be friend. From my perspective, I agree that people should make friend with the people who have same interests and personalities. The first reason why I hold this view is that it must be easier for two people to communicate with each other when they have same interests and personalities. On one hand people always focus on what they are interested in, so they will catch all opportunities to understand it, including communication, on the other hand, the chat with tow people who have same interests and personalities can avoid the embarrassment of silent. I will take an example of myself. Once I went out with tow friends, one has the same interests and personalities to me, while the other has diverse interests and personalities from us. From my own feeling, I would like to talk with the former one better. Another aspect can never be ignore is that it is possible for two people with diverse interests and personalities to produce divergence and contradiction. In other words, two people with different interests and personalities may have two ideas to same things, so when they stand in an opposite opinion, their friendship perhaps confront with a big challenge, and this challenge possesses destructiveness. It is really possible to cause their friendship to be end.......

Friends

...Friends  Friends are people whom we turn to when our spirits need a lift. They are always by our side through thick and thin. They stand beside us even when our disposition is not perfectly right and will fight for us if we are oppressed. Therefore, it is clear that friends play a vital role in shaping who we are today. But what qualities exactly do we need to look for in a friend? A friend should always be caring towards you. He or she should take interest in your problems no matter how big or petty your problem may be. A friend should be able to sit beside you and encourage you to keep your chin up even when everyone else is against you. A friend’s empathy and lovingness will also replenish your worn-out soul and will make you realize how important a friend really is. Apart from that, a friend should be an honest person. An honest friend will dissipate any worries that he or she is lying towards you. A friend’s honesty will enable you to trust his or she’s opinion when it comes to telling you the truth about yourself. For example, an honest friend will remand you on your declining grades and will ask you to work harder while a dishonest friend will see it with a blind eye. Therefore, an overall improvement in yourself will be noticeable if you have an honest friend. Moreover, a friend should be generous both emotionally and knowledge wise. A friend who is generous ought to be able to connect with you and provide emotional support. He or she should also be......

...MINES INTRODUCTION Globalization is an idea whose time has come. From obscure origins in French and American writings in the 1960s, the concept of globalization finds expression today in all the world’s major languages ( Stiglitz, 2002).Yet, it lacks precise definition. Indeed, globalization is in danger of becoming, if it has not already become, the cliché of our times: the big idea which encompasses everything from global financial markets to theInternet but which delivers little substantive insight into the contemporary human condition.Clichés, nevertheless, often capture elements of the lived experience of an epoch. In this respect, globalization reflects a widespread perception that the world is rapidly being moulded into a shared socialspace by economic and technological forces and that development in one region of the world can haveprofound consequences for the life chances of individuals or communities on the other side of the globe. Formany, globalization is also associated with a sense of political fatalism and chronic insecurity in that thesheer scale of contemporary social and economic change appears to outstrip the capacity of nationalgovernments or citizens to control, contest or resist that change. The limits to national politics, in otherwords, are forcefully suggested by globalization.Although the popular rhetoric of globalization may capture aspects of the contemporary zeitgeist, there is aburgeoning academic debate as to whether globalization, as......

...always told me to be careful when choosing your friends and remember that not everyone is your friend. There are three different kinds of “friends” in this life. I classify them according to how well I know them and how well they know me. We encounter each of them every day, whether it be at school, home, or through social media. First, there are the "social media friends" generally known as the person behind the computer screen. Next, there are "acquaintance friends" classmates or short-term friend. Lastly, we have "best friends" our true friends. Social media sites such as Instagram or twitter have “followers” who are people behind their cellphones liking your pictures, commenting on your facebook statuses, but you do not really know who they are. You do not really talk to that person in person, this are different social media friends. Secondly, friends I call "acquaintances." This is because they are closer than your Instagram followers or facebook friends, but they nowhere near as close as your best friend. Acquaintances are usually classmates who evolve into "friends" through social media or hanging out here and there. You typically know the acquaintances name, a little of their family history, and usually have several things in common. Lastly your best friend, you probably grew up together as children. They know everything about you. Just as you know everything about them. You consider them to be like family. "A true friend will see you through when others see that you......

...motivates me to one day become my own boss of a multimillion dollar business. I could even us that business to promote myself as a boxer! Being a business owner is also another gateway for me to pursue my other goals, since most of them have some sort of budget, like starting a charity. I have always wanted to help others in need. Even as a child, I was always there to lend a helping hand. So starting a charity organization wouldn’t be a hassle for me. To be more specific on the type of charity to want to create, I want to create one for the young athletes that can’t achieve their goals either because of financial problems, or simply because they don’t have enough support. I personally know the struggle of not having support from your friends, relatives, and it could kill the will to not even try, so they end up not achieve their goals. The reason for it being a charity is so that others can contribute to it, and help a young athlete in the form of money or equipment. Something else I want to do is to travel the world, not for vacations, but to help in communities in need, such as villages in Africa or any place in general that needs help. I’ve heard of places where they don’t even have clean drinking water, and we’re over here using water for these giant water parks and cleaning our cars, while people all over the world are dying of thirst. This is why I want to travel and set up water wells so that those people don’t have to travel long distances just to get bacteria......

...In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than in mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe. Now the trumpet summons us again — not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are — but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation" — a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself. Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort? In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility — I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it — and the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you...
