Once that was done I pledged my loyalty and became a citizen. * How would you describe how you felt about the process? * I felt very nervous but relieved after I had passed and become a citizen, it was a big step for me. * How has gaining citizenship changed your life? ...in an educational environment rather than in their comfort area. Things that are obtained in a classroom like the competitiveness to beat one another, healthy interactions, difference in opinion, and just the feeling of accomplishment cannot be achieved through a computer screen. The department of education should not be funding the experimental online school. The experiment provides students to work from home with distractions, the lack of ambition, and it does not offer them with the right interactions that he or she will need. This would also be a bad idea in the sense of students cheating. Who would know if the student is actually taking the test or doing the courses by themselves or not having a the study guide and web site open in another tab on the computer during the test. The educational department should not provide funding for this experimental online school due to the fact that it 's easier for student to be distracted and procrastinate when they're at home rather than in a classroom. First, students will become more distracted because they're at home in an environment that may not be fit for a student to be taking online courses and can be doing whatever they want while they're supposed to be taking tests and doing the courses. Then, it's easier to procrastinate if there's no one to encourage them. They'll just keep putting it off thinking oh ill get it done tomorrow then tomorrow comes, and they put it off another day. ...What is online therapy? People who receive therapy vary widely in their problems and their motivations to solve them. The most obvious candidates for therapy are individuals experiencing sudden and highly stressful situations such as a divorce or unemployment, people who feel overwhelmed by the crisis conditions in which they find themselves that they cannot manage on their own. The people typically feel quite vulnerable and tend to be open to therapy because they are motivated to alter their present intolerable mental states. Some people enter therapy somewhat as a surprise to themselves. Many people entering therapy have experienced long-term psychological distress and have had lengthy histories of maladjustment. They have had interpersonal problems, such as an inability to be comfortable with intimacy, or they may have felt as though susceptible to low moods that are difficult from them to dispel. Individuals with chronic unhappiness and inability to feel confident and secure may prompt them to seek outside help. Some people who enter therapy have problems that would be considered relatively normal. That is, they appear to have achieved success, have financial stability, have generally accepting and loving families, and have accomplished many of their life goals. They enter therapy not out of personal despair or impossible interpersonal involvements, but out of a sense that they have not lived up to their own expectations and realized their own potential. There are......

...2013-04-ENC-102-OL010: English Composition II: WA1 April 6, 2013 Essay #1 Online learning is increasing in popularity. Adults as well as K-12 students are utilizing online courses to complete their education. With anything in life, there are pros and cons to consider especially when it comes to replacing traditional education with an online education. In the future, changes could be implemented to create a structure for all institutions to follow for a greater increase in online educational course offerings. In 1989, the University of Phoenix opened its virtual doors to what is called “distance learning”. This for-profit institution along with a multitude of other for-profit institutions have millions of students that take courses for a variety of reasons. For those who are taking online courses, some might say that the human interaction of taking a traditional course is better than utilizing online courses. If that is the case, then why has online learning increased significantly over the past decade? “About 30 percent of American college students take at least one course online, says Elaine Allen, statistical director of the Sloan Survey on Online Education, which monitors student involvement in online higher education”. (Burnsed, 1) In an article by Duglass Rushcoff, he states that even though students are taking courses to simply enrich their lives, “it would be a mistake to conclude that online courses fulfill the same role in a person's life as a college......

...How do these articles impact your understanding, attitudes and feelings about learning in an online environment? How does this seem to fit with your most efficient and effective way of learning? What ways can you leverage the online technology and this method of learning to maximize what you take away from this program? An online learning environment is not a problem for me, in fact I spent majority of my junior and senior year off college taking online courses using the blackboard system. The system that we are currently using is a bit different for me, it’s a lot more detailed and has many more features than blackboard. For some people online learning is a breeze and others it’s a never ending obstacle . After digesting this information I feel that online classes are just as effective as traditional classes, solely because in online environments you are expected to gather various forms of data, research, and other forms of evidence to help better your understanding of the topics that are presented to you just as in a traditional classroom setting. Bring in circled part page 406 After reading these articles I gained a better understanding of networks, technologies, and various learning styles used in online environments. Based on prior research, the six antecedents of customer satisfaction – ease of use, design, speed, security, information content, and customer support service – are proposed, and the effects of experience on the relationships between these and customer satisfaction are analyzed using a structural multi-group (a high-experience group and a low-experience group) model. The results show that design, speed, security, information content, and customer support service have a significant influence on customer satisfaction in the high-experience group or the low-experience group, but ease of use does not have a significant influence on customer satisfaction in either of the groups. Also, the results relating to the influence of the level of customer experience reveal that the effects of design, security, speed, and information content on customer satisfaction were......

...Differences Between Online Retail & Traditional Retail Businesses EinkaufswagenImage via Wikipedia Often times, it is easy to overlook the differences between selling online through a shopping cart and retail selling through a brick and mortar storefront. Online retail is different from selling through a store in many ways and you should become familiar with the differences so you can better understand the many benefits of selling online compared to selling through a physical storefront. The obvious differences are the way the products are displayed to customers and the way in which they enter your store to browse around. Main Differences Between Online Retail & Physical Storefronts Display: By shopping at a brick and mortar store the customers are able to physically touch and handle items they are interested in buying. Online retailers are forced to display items using only pictures, graphics and text based product descriptions. Expense: Typically, there are major differences in the amount of funding or startup capital needed to open the store. Brick and mortar stores usually require a bigger budget since you have to lease space, rent property and pay for other location expenses. Online store owners do not usually have to worry about building leases or property expense. ...Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act Boarder security in the United States of America has been a big topic of discussion for many years. Many bills and laws have been passed, denied, or ignored completely. One in particular is currently still fighting to become law, though. The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act was introduced in the United States Senate on April 16th, 2013, and was proposed by Sen. Charles Schumer, a Democrat from New York. The bill has been approved and passed by the Senate, but still lies in wait to be approved by the House, and by the President, before becoming an official law. This bill, if passed, will make it possible for immigrants to live in the United States legally. They will gain legal statues, and then become official citizens. This bill will also tighten boarder control, adding 40,000 more patrol agents. Visas as well will be affected, creating new ones for entrepreneurs, as well as lower skilled workers. The bill will require roughly $46.3 billion for border enforcement alone, making its chance of becoming a law rather slim. Despite the cost, this bill should be put into law because its overall effect is much greater than the monetary worth. If this was to become law, the lives of many people could be improved. Most immigrants will be coming in from Mexico in search for a better life for their families. Mexico’s position is not as well as America’s, and the people......

Lt. Gov Race

...” But Bakari Sellers, also an attorney and a state House member since 2007, said he is the only candidate who has “actually created a job for someone other than themselves.” “We have an ‘experience’ discussion, and the irony is, I’m some 30 years the junior, but I think I actually bring more experience to the table.” Sellers said that as a state representative, he helped bring 2,800 jobs to Bamberg, Barnwell and Orangeburg counties when a manufacturer moved to Denmark, Sellers’ hometown. “I can’t take credit, like the governor does, for all those jobs,” Sellers said. “But I’ve been in that room before, and that’s the irony in this whole discussion about experience.” Sellers also noted he has served in the House for two years longer than Gov. Nikki Haley before the Republican ran for governor, beating McMaster in the GOP primary. McMaster touted his four years as a U.S. attorney under President Ronald Reagan and his eight years as state attorney general, saying he worked with the Legislature to expand the investigative powers of the state grand jury and prosecuted a high-profile investment fraud case. McMaster said enlisting nonprofits and volunteer organizations to help provide services to seniors is part of his plan if elected. As attorney general, McMaster said he recruited volunteer attorneys to prosecute criminal domestic violence cases in special courts that he set up for that purpose “at no additional cost to the taxpayers.” “That is the spirit of volunteerism that......

1.02 Honors

...1.02 Honors Bill S.60 is a bill proposed to prohibit aliens who are not lawfully present in the United States from being eligible for postsecondary education benefits that are not available to all citizens and nationals of the United States. Bill S.60 was first proposed by David Sen Vitter in Louisiana. The bill would prevent illegal immigrants from being able to go to an American college with financial aid. The people that are affected are children that didn’t ask to be born in a country and never receive proper verification. It’s meant to keep immigrants out by limiting our notion of the land of opportunity. It may affect the government by initially saving money because they wouldn’t need it for extra funding. Lowers the job market competition. Many Americans argue that since the parents of illegal aliens don’t pay taxes, their children do not deserve the equal opportunity of higher education and financial aid. They also believe that illegal immigrants are lazy and taking advantage of America’s “generosity”. Many also believe illegal immigrants are criminals and that giving a criminal ‘free money’ is foolish and unethical. What’s unethical is denying children born in the United States a chance to even become someone able to pay the dues of being an American citizen. Getting a necessary higher education is a pathway to citizenship. America was built by immigrants, we are the land of opportunity, let’s not forget where we all came from. "Bill Summary & Status......

1.02 What Is Citizenship

...1.02 What is citizenship Interview with Rahim Aldemir What inspired you to become a U.S. citizen? I became a U.S. citizen to create a new life in America. My home country was stricken with poverty, I wanted to go to America so I could have a chance at life. What steps did you have to take as part of the naturalization process? I had to maintain a residence for 5 years before I could apply to be a citizen. I was then scheduled fingerprinting and an interview. During my interview I had to take exams on writing and reading English as well as the United States government and history. After passing my exams I was scheduled for a swearing in ceremony, at the ceremony I took an oath of allegiance and was a certified U.S. citizen. How would you describe how you felt about the process? The process was easy enough for me, I began learning English as a second language in my home country. I only had to study for a week because I had already known all the material for the exams and interview. My only complaint is that 5 years is a long time to wait to become a citizen, I wish I could have applied earlier. How has gaining citizenship changed your life? Is your daily life different because of gaining citizenship? There is little noticeable difference in my daily life. I still continue to go through my daily routine. The United States gives anyone who is not a citizen a good life because there is no noticeable difference. Do you feel the process was worthwhile? Yes, I enjoy having...

Online education is one of the ways to learn various subjects. We can take a lecture or hand in our assignments through the Internet. Therefore, people can learn what they want to learn whenever or wherever they want. In America, some colleges adopt this education. However, this new way to educate students is not prevailed in all countries because in some countries, they have enough educational system for students. Although some countries have enough colleges or educational system, the online education should be a part of educational system in all colleges for three reasons: cost, environmental and flexibility. First, online education can give a good influence in educational cost. To be sure, some people have enough money to go to college and online education is not necessary because there are many professors who teach various kinds of subjects and we can ask directly what we want to know without paying money. However, when we think about the poor people with some problems, we can understand the thought that online education should be a part of educational system. For example in Japan, according to the research by Tokyo University, about ten thousand students retired from their......
