Why should I study for my upcoming Medical Terminology Test? Costs | Benefits | Sleep time is less (short-term) | Better GPA (long-term) | Less usage of my electronics (short-term) | Be more focused on this test and other to come (long-term) | Less time spent with friends (short-term) | Learned something that will better my future career in the medical field. (long-term) |

1.Explain how the concepts of scarcity, choice, and opportunity cost relate to your dilemma. ◘ Having the drive to want to study is what will take you far. As we all know time is a scarce resource. We want more, but have to do it a limited TIME frame, and scarcity is just that, limited resources. This forces us to make choices, choices that we might not want to make, but have to. Opportunity cost is the most valued alternative, meaning giving up something you want to do but can’t really do. In my case that would be studying instead of pointless time wasting on things that could be dealt with later on in the week. It’s better to chose a goal that will really benefit you in the long run. 2. When making a decision, are the costs and benefits equally important to you? Why or why not. Based on your chart, explain which category, costs or benefits, would have the largest impact on your decision?

◘ When making a decision I would say that the cost and benefits are not equally important. Why not, because I feel the benefits are the positive effect of the cost. To me the benefit category would have the largest impact on my decision. I want positive results from what I gave up for it. In my dilemma, studying is my number one priority right now for my grade’s. I need good grades, because good grade lead you into an awesome college, then into a bright…...

What I Have Learned

...LIFE, AS WE KNOW IT From different ups and downs I had experienced and from different people I have met in my college days, I can say that I had learned so much, much more than high school and elementary days. If those younger years let me become learned of basic education, this stage of life, being a college student taught me more than medical and nursing concepts. But it also taught me about other aspects of life such as the whole life itself, understanding other people’s life and feelings, knowing how me, myself and I help me in every problems, treasuring friendships and respecting other people. Health care spirituality is one of the courses that let me learn how these things affect my living. It teaches me more about life and the consequences of it. Life is a continuing process of learning. I believe that the every good deed, and everything we do to others, will not be written on transcript of records, but recorded on Almighty’s. At first, going to college made me feel ambivalent feelings. Feelings of excitement, fear, feeling of being misunderstood, not being heard, and of being alone. Coming from a Catholic school high school institution, I decided to choose a Catholic college institution. One selfish reason is that, I prefer to go to school which has a lower dense of population, I don’t prefer to be in a crowded universities and college, because I think that the lower the population is, the more focused the teachers and administration can give to the students.......

Why Do I Have to Do This?

...users found the map product incomplete and sometimes comically wrong in many locations throughout the world. Some critics said iOS 6 didn't offer many significant advancements over its predecessors, while Google's Android system continues to evolve more rapidly. Monday's changes, particularly Forstall's departure, came as a major surprise. The only comment from Cook in the announcement didn't shed much light on them, either. "We are in one of the most prolific periods of innovation and new products in Apple's history," Cook said in a written statement. "The amazing products that we've introduced in September and October, iPhone 5, iOS 6, iPad mini, iPad, iMac, MacBook Pro, iPod touch, iPod nano and many of our applications, could only have been created at Apple and are the direct result of our relentless focus on tightly integrating world-class hardware, software and services." Forstall did not speak at last week's unveiling of the iPad Mini. But he took the stage at September's iPhone 5 event, detailing the aforementioned operating-system updates. Forstall has been with Apple since 1997 and, in addition to guiding iOS, is one of the original architects of the company's desktop and laptop software, Mac OS X. He was responsible for several versions of the software, most notably Mac OS X Leopard in 2007. Before Apple, he worked with Jobs at his short-lived NeXT, the computer company he ran between stints at Apple....

Why I?

...Why I love fashion At an early age wool, cotton, linen, and silk have been always a part of me. Not much has changed since that time except for the fact that I have grown to love and appreciate what goes on behind the scenes in the fashion industry. I simply dress to have amusement to my existence. As Bill Cunningham described in his wonderful documentary "Fashion is our suit of armor to survive every day life. It would be like doing away with civilization." I was confused on whether to engage my life to the fashion industry being such a competitive job. I believe that fashion has pushed me out of my comfort zone to try things I never would have imagined I would. What keeps me passionate about the fashion world is the freedom and creative expression one gets. You can express yourself and maybe people will listen or respond. If I see someone with a great pair of shoes on (for example), I may go up to them and tell them and we strike up a conversation and perhaps we become friends. This isn't always the case but it is more likely since you started with a mutual interest. I knew I could start making the world pretty one girl at a time! Fashions is art that we wear every day and live our lives in. Unless you live in a nudist colony, clothes are something that we must wear every day. The beauty of that is that through clothing we have the opportunity to express a part of our personalities and ourselves. I love beautiful and functional design of all types whether it be......

Why Can't I Belong

...Why Can’t I Belong Belonging such a fickle term, such a horrid and vile word and James hated it. Perhaps it was not the word itself, but more so the weight it carried. He hated the idea of being part of a group of friends and never thought about trying to fit in, as it had never worked. That is why he hated belonging, because he never had, or at least no one had ever let him. Being part of a group was so important James when he was younger, and he had tried many times to make friends with his classmates, but nothing had worked. He tried playing the games they played, listening to the music they listened to, the whole works, but nothing seemed to pan out for him. No matter how hard he tried the would snicker at him, make jokes at his expense, or simply ignore him. It was infuriating and confusing for James, he didn’t understand why no one would accept him. His parents had always told him that if her was himself people would like him, and that there was no point in acting like someone he wasn’t. That was what seemed to bother James though, when he was himself, still no one liked him; and if no one liked him for him, when why should he like himself? All of these thoughts, all of the anger, all of the confusion, it was overwhelming. James felt completely isolated, he felt like he didn’t belong. That word, just part of the cyclical thinking he experienced, and every time that it emerged it tore away another piece of his being. A million times over James had thought about what had...

Why Can't We Be Good?

...PHI 106 Assignment #1 Why Can’t We Be Good? “Our society simply has no generally acceptable solution to the ethical dilemma of abortion. So here is a test for us. This is ethnics. We are in front of a painful and Momentous question of right and wrong. How shall we try to think - to think, and not just wrangle - about it?”(“Why Can’t We Be Good?”, pg.63) I believe that everyone has an opinion about a certain situation whether it’d be right or wrong. Giving an opinion about a certain subject brings out the emotions that a person feels. Morality is another word for someone’s opinion about what is right or wrong and it goes back to what a person feels. For instance, many people discuss abortion and whether the solution harms the fetus or not, no one is sure. My opinion about abortion is that it is a form of murdering and lessens the value of human life and can cause long term damage to women or health risk. People who are pro-life consider abortions to be inhumane and believe they should be outlawed. As, viewed by people who categorize themselves as pro-life, it is seen as the murder of an innocent life. Plus, abortion lessens the chance for adoption if the child is born and sadly women that choose abortion usually do not have the financial resources to support the child. There are also, other safer forms of birth control. But I also, believe that in any situation if a woman is raped or abused, she should have the rights to do an abortion is that is the......

“Am I a Product of My Past or Do I Have a Choice in What I Do? Why Do I Do What I Do?”

...I believe that our environment can inhibit our options, but the choices we make can enhance our experience within the environment we have been placed in. In my stance on the question at hand I would like to present my take on Skinner’s ideas that, “It is the environment which is responsible for objectionable behavior, and it is the environment, not some attribute of the individual, which must be changed.” and, “A person does not act upon the world, the world acts upon him.” I understand Skinner’s view point, however, I differ from his ideas in three ways: first, we are products of the choices we have made in the past; secondly, our physical environment can be changed by us; and third, our mental environment is influenced by authorities, but not controlled. In the following paragraphs I will use observational learning, instinctive drift, and behavior modification to explain each of my personal views pertaining to the question, “Why do I do what I do?” I have lived in Southwest Kansas my entire life because my parents chose to start their lives here; therefore I am a product of the choice my parents made for me seventeen years ago pertaining to where I live. However, like any environment there are ecological factors to consider such as weather, wildlife, and resources. For example, let’s say I had only previously encountered garter snakes and bullsnakes and had had positive experiences with both, and my parents had never told me to fear snakes. Then one day I encounter...

I Have

...Economic opportunity, social equality and personal freedom are societal ideals desired by nearly every individual, and such is no different for those who lived the Cuban Revolution. Poet and political activist Nicolás Guillén well documents these widely sought after ideals in Cuban society by expressing the newfound liberties of post-revolutionary Cuba in his 1964 poem “I Have.” Through anaphoric repetition of the poem’s titular phrase, Guillén emphatically depicts a vibrant Cuban nation teeming with natural beauty, societal peace and equality, and individual liberties by poetically listing the newfound personal freedoms and opportunities of post-revolutionary Cuban society. Guillén illustrates the dissipation of racial and class divisions by establishing himself, “being Black,” as a firsthand authority in witnessing the changing social climate of Cuba (29). By specifically referring to his skin color as a source of his authority on the subject, Guillén establishes ethos in his firsthand accounts of how racial and class boundaries are deteriorating. To evidence his assertion of a positively transformed social climate, Guillén illustrates a new Cuban society devoid of racist mentalities and remarks by calling upon specific examples of how no one can “stop [him] at the door” or “on the rug of a hotel” and how no one can “scream at [him] that there are no rooms” (30-32). Guillén’s illustration of dissipating racial tensions is accompanied his personal account of how he......

Why Can't I Divide by Zero?

...Why can’t I divide by zero? The explanation of why we cannot divide any number by zero is really easy. The three links contain different explanations, but eventually, they all come down to one. To begin, it is said that we students are told that a division by zero is undefined. And this, supposedly is not entirely true, but somewhat true, they tell us this because they, and we eventually cannot define an answer that would work. But in the other hand, if we are told that a division by zero equals to infinity, then that is entirely NOT true. Why? Because as the contents say, infinity is not a number, it is simply like a concept let’s say, because if it would be a number, there would be many contradictions, like the “collision” of our whole number system. So, as mathematician Mahavira (9th century A.D.) said “A number remains unchanged when divided by zero.”, we can get to the simple and easy conclusion that a number cannot be divided by zero simply because, if you multiply that number by zero, the answer will ALWAYS be zero. Now, in the case of 0/0=0, we may say that that is true because 0x0=0, and that may lead to us thinking or realizing that dividing by zero can give you a real number, but this is wrong. We must not confuse, as I said above, any number times zero will equal zero, so therefore the answer to 0/0 can be any number. And also, we must not forget that any number divided by that same number, will equal to one (1/1=1, 2/2=1,3/3=1..), so in that case of......

...the rather divisive decision was made to cast the former ‘Daredevil’ actor as Bruce Wayne it was widely speculated that Zack Snyder was hounding Christian Bale to reprise his role for ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’. It’s now been revealed that rumour was only half true, because Snyder has confessed that he wanted Bale in the ‘Man Of Steel’ sequel, but in a completely different role to Batman. Snyder admitted to Film Ink that this would have been the ultimate proof that ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ was in a completely different universe and reality to ‘Batman Begins’, ‘The Dark Knight’, and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. “This is a total and opposite reality from the Chris Nolan movies,” Zack Snyder remarked. “It’s another universe, so we couldn’t hire Christian Bale if we wanted to, because he doesn’t exist in our world. Maybe we could hire him to play another part. We did talk about that briefly. I just wanted to hire Christian to play another part to make that obvious.” Zack Snyder then joked that Bale could have been plastered with make-up and then portrayed Alfred Pennyworth, a role that Jeremy Irons has in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.’...

Why Women Cant Have It All Response

... English 122 Prof McKinnon 7/16/12 “Why women can’t have it all” by Slaughter: Response After reading the title of this article “Why women can’t have it all” it makes me ponder what this “all” exactly means. After reading the article I discovered that “all” is a great career, a big bank account, a successful husband, perfect kids, and a nice house at the same time. As she Slaughter did experience this dilemma of choosing to spend more time with her family or keep her decent career which is director of policy planning for the State Department. She also begins to question the equality of women is the workplace are they being treated the same way as man? In my business class, my professor informed me that during job interviews they intend to avoid pregnant women as they will get 10 paid weeks off and would ruin the payroll of the company. This is the just one of many disadvantages that career moms face. As I continued reading the article I felt I had to be defensive in some parts , but not because I disagree her claims and it felt as if there was a dagger soon to be puncturing my lung ,but me being a male accused of things I did not commit. While reading the article it ranged if men won’t sacrifice because they think the women eventually will. Slaughter answers this question by saying that men are socialized to prioritize differently than women, but I myself would never ask someone to sacrifice something if I wouldn’t if I were in her or his shoes. After a mindset......
